Angelina Jordan Astar makes me believe all the greats of decades past got together in heaven to create her. She turns 16 on January 10th, 2022. Here is the story why Angelina always performs barefoot. At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East.

Screamin' Jay Hawkins performed this classic over many years and over time he brought in more of his expertise in opera singing. It seems Angelina studied *all* his performances, as there are elements here from his first TV appearance, and from late in his career.
After eighty years of listening to music I will state that she is the greatest vocal artist of all time. No one can cross the genres she has already done by age fifteen. There is others who may be superior technically but none can emote the feelings she creates within the listener with each song she sings.
One more point about Angelina-she sounds like she did in this song because that’s the voice and style she chose to give us authentic old school blues. Her voice and talent is incredibly flexible. Watch Bohemian Rhapsody to hear something completely different-and absolutely stunning. But since you like blues-go right to her cover of Etta James “I’d Rather Go Blind”. No production-just Angelina at 13 with a mic and a music track giving us 1960’s soul right from Detroit. You’ve never heard anyone like Angelina.
She was doing a tribute to Screamin' Jay Hawkins here, and it's amazing. I have heard a later version by her which I can't locate right now which is not as raw, but I'm happy to hear her back off a bit. I don't want her to damage that amazing voice. I'm waiting with great anticipation to see what she and Republic come up with. She's been releasing some covers (mostly Adele) but the few originals she's released are absolutely my favorites so I'm excited for what's coming.

So her grandmother lived with Angelina and her family and used to play jazz for her and that is where she got all her jazz from and. She is Norwegian, born in oslo. And this is actually her 3rd or 4th language. She speak farsi (mothers side) and im pretty sure she speaks abit of Japanese too. (her dads side) but i might be wrong. She has been performing at a high level all over the world since age 8 when she won Norway's Got Talent singing Billie Holiday, Nancy Sinatra, and Gershwin. There has never been a singer with her versatility with regard to numerous genres. Add in the fact that as a 'vocal chameleon' she is able to emulate the actual voices of many artists when she wants to. It's why she is referred to as 'Girl Of 1000 Voices'. I just found Angelina a year ago and I have still not listened to all her songs. Lol. I love watching reaction channels and seeing their videos when she sings it’s so fun. No, this is not what she sounds like ALL the time. This is one of her "1000 voices". If you are really impressed by her singing, listen to her beginning at NGT when she was 7 and won when she was 8. At 6 she sounded totally different in the studio compare to her performances on NGT.
You have no idea what you just stumbled on. That was recorded almost 7 years ago when she was a little girl. In a few days (Jan 10th) she turns 16 & she has really grown up & I mean up (6'1" tall). I probably shouldn't say anything before you see Angelina's version of "I'd Rather Go Blind", but… well, just be prepared for a _much_ less "theatrical" approach from her (compared to Rachel's). As Ugo has already pointed out, she sang the song sitting on a couch at home, but even if she was in front of a huge crowd, I don't think she would do it any differently (well, except that she would be standing ;). She likes to put all of the focus on her vocals, and none (or very little) on "playing to the crowd". (I should point out, I don't mean this to be a criticism of Rachel's performance - given the circumstances, she was wise to use "every arrow in her quiver", as it were. It's just not Angelina's style to give that kind of performance.) For another example of what I'm talking about - in a somewhat more apples-to-apples comparison - see 13-year-old Carly Rose Sonenclar's "Feeling Good" audition on _X Factor_ (easy enough to find with a search) versus 10-year-old Angelina's performance of the same song live on _The Stream Gir Tilbake_ (on her Official channel - the same one "I Put a Spell on You" is on). Angelina's approach is not completely devoid of any "crowd pleasing", of course (that climax…), but it's clear that her priorities are completely different from Carly's. And it's not just that Angelina was not in a competition whereas Carly was. This will be made clear when you see her run on _Norway's Got Talent_ [Norske Talenter]: four songs in four rounds, and not a single belted note (and come to think of it, not a single step taken on stage while she was singing, either [LOL]). OBTW, you might notice something else about Angelina's "I'd Rather Go Blind" video: the take we are watching her sing doesn't match the audio take we are hearing - in other words, it appears to have been "lip synced" (this is most obvious at one point where we hear her sing the word "boy" as her mouth is wide open). AFAICT, this is the only cover she did that way (not counting the most recent "music videos" she's done under the auspices of Republic Records, since it's becoming very difficult to tell the difference between stuff "sung live" vs. not). There are a few other (pre-2020) covers of hers where it's pretty obvious that multiple audio takes have been used, but in those cases the audio and video seem to match through most of the video, with just a few points of mismatch here and there (thus, edited but not "lip synced"). But the vast majority of videos we've gotten of her singing through the years have been single, uninterrupted takes, whether recorded at home or performed on stage (or in rehearsal spaces, etc.). Angelina Jordan Astar makes me believe all the greats of decades past got together in heaven to create her. She turns 16 on January 10th, 2022. Here is the story why Angelina always performs barefoot.
At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true.
Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East.

After eighty years of listening to music I will state that she is the greatest vocal artist of all time. No one can cross the genres she has already done by age fifteen. There is others who may be superior technically but none can emote the feelings she creates within the listener with each song she sings.

No production-just Angelina at 13 with a mic and a music track giving us 1960’s soul right from Detroit. You’ve never heard anyone like Angelina.

I have watched Angelina from age of 7 years and no matter what age or what genre, she has over 150 covers, she is masterful with how she sings you will enjoy the ride, and her followers are some of the nicest people you can meet and Angelina has a heart of gold "stories you are sure to hear" and is surrounded by a family that is there for her beautiful people.

There is a whole story behind that and i seen someone already write that in the comments so im not gonna make you read more then you have to (A alan Schecherly wrote the story about whh she is not wearing shoes) . She also wrote a story about it and published a book about it called mellom to hjerter (between two hearts) and is the youngest to ever publish a book in Norway by the age of 9 years old.

The Angels (The name of her fan base) is pretty passionate about her ans very protective over her. Alot of us have seen her grown up from 7 years old to now(15)

And her *Im still holding out for you* is... She is 10 years old its like trying to explain what you just saw here just now. Its a feeling and im not really good at explaining my feelings i just feel them.. Its truly amazing What she done from some lyrics she got at that age.
And something recent.. She did Adele *Easy on me* which is totally different from this. But she is called the girl with the 1000 voices because she can do basically anything and her vocal range is incredible. She also did *All i ask* by adele this year and a couple of Michael Jackson songs.

And one i really think you will like and came to mine when you said you were into this type of jazz blues was *I'd rather go blind* by Etta James. Its just her and a mic in front of a camera with the instrumental.. And her voice is ridiculously stupid. (13 years old)
And her own song that she wrote called *million miles* which she wrote to her grandfather who passed away is beautiful. And her grandmother is an artist and actually made the art for one of the music videos of that song. But her live studio version is better in my opinion.

"I Put a Spell On You" has been covered many times and is recognized as a classic, yet almost never is the tone of the original 1956 "Screamin" Jay Hawkins version captured. This is because Hawkins was the original shock-rock guy (think Ozzy Osbourne type craziness) and his style is difficult to emulate and also because his dated delivery is uncomfortable and stereotypical to our modern sensibilities.

You asked about some of her later music, apart from the fact that everything Angelina has sung is gold, I would suggest a 13 year old Angelina paying tribute to the Whitney Houston classic "I have nothing" or one of Angelina's latest releases a cover of Adele s " Easy on me" . The great thing about Angelina is that she always pays homage to the original artists but adds in her own interpretation to the song in which many times surpasses the original.🥰

No, this is not what she sounds like ALL the time. This is one of her "1000 voices". If you are really impressed by her singing, listen to her beginning at NGT when she was 7 and won when she was 8. At 6 she sounded totally different in the studio compare to her performances on NGT.

You have no idea what you just stumbled on. That was recorded almost 7 years ago when she was a little girl. In a few days (Jan 10th) she turns 16 & she has really grown up & I mean up (6'1" tall). This opinion is quickly being reinforced as her career is finally starting to I believe explode. I'm surprised there are still many who know nothing about her but again I think that is going to change.If you want to hear music listen to anyone. If you want to feel it listen to Angelina. I probably shouldn't say anything before you see Angelina's version of "I'd Rather Go Blind", but… well, just be prepared for a _much_ less "theatrical" approach from her (compared to Rachel's). As Ugo has already pointed out, she sang the song sitting on a couch at home, but even if she was in front of a huge crowd, I don't think she would do it any differently (well, except that she would be standing ;). She likes to put all of the focus on her vocals, and none (or very little) on "playing to the crowd". (I should point out, I don't mean this to be a criticism of Rachel's performance - given the circumstances, she was wise to use "every arrow in her quiver", as it were. It's just not Angelina's style to give that kind of performance.) For another example of what I'm talking about - in a somewhat more apples-to-apples comparison - see 13-year-old Carly Rose Sonenclar's "Feeling Good" audition on _X Factor_ (easy enough to find with a search) versus 10-year-old Angelina's performance of the same song live on _The Stream Gir Tilbake_ (on her Official channel - the same one "I Put a Spell on You" is on). Angelina's approach is not completely devoid of any "crowd pleasing", of course (that climax…), but it's clear that her priorities are completely different from Carly's. And it's not just that Angelina was not in a competition whereas Carly was. This will be made clear when you see her run on _Norway's Got Talent_ [Norske Talenter]: four songs in four rounds, and not a single belted note (and come to think of it, not a single step taken on stage while she was singing, either [LOL]).
OBTW, you might notice something else about Angelina's "I'd Rather Go Blind" video: the take we are watching her sing doesn't match the audio take we are hearing - in other words, it appears to have been "lip synced" (this is most obvious at one point where we hear her sing the word "boy" as her mouth is wide open). AFAICT, this is the only cover she did that way (not counting the most recent "music videos" she's done under the auspices of Republic Records, since it's becoming very difficult to tell the difference between stuff "sung live" vs. not). There are a few other (pre-2020) covers of hers where it's pretty obvious that multiple audio takes have been used, but in those cases the audio and video seem to match through most of the video, with just a few points of mismatch here and there (thus, edited but not "lip synced"). But the vast majority of videos we've gotten of her singing through the years have been single, uninterrupted takes, whether recorded at home or performed on stage (or in rehearsal spaces, etc.). There are literally _hundreds_ of such videos.

It is said, that she gathered money for charitable causes about between 20 to 30 Million USD. Musicians around the world adore her today. Angelina Jordan is today a household Brand. It is said, that Adele is a fan of her and honored by Angelinas covers of Adels songs.Quincy Jones is a BIG fan of her and Queen is proud of her interpretion of Bohemian Rhapsodie. Sir Elton John, so I heard, thanked her for "dusting of this old song and breathing new live into it." Marc Ronson saw her on a concert and sent her a original tape when she was around 13.
