Mark. WOW! PCG have cracked it! Stunning! Taking the battle to the Golf. Design, quality and that French chic. As You rightly say there is still a need for a ''hatchback''. So many families would be far better to go 'hatchback' than SUV! Peugeot and indeed Renault have come on leaps and bounds. Imagine a 308 Gti! Brilliant real world review. Thank You. Let's up this is a success.

I cant understand that people have so hard time with the steering wheel. Ofourse, if you are used with a bigger steering wheel it take time to adjust, but ofcourse anyone can drive with that steering wheel. Once you get hang of it, its superior.

Outstanding video as per usual Mark. It’s great seeing a fantastic looking hatch. Really hope the hatch and saloon segment will live on for quite some time yet.

Fully agree on the hot hatch discussion at the end, I had a MK1 Golf GTI in the 1990s when I was in my 20s that I wish I still had today, once we're finished with the school runs etc I'd love the idea of downsizing and having another GTI. PSA group always had their small hot hatches that people loved, it'd be a shame to see them vanish.

100%. It's going to take a lot convincing for brands to do them but Ford, VW and Peugeot are probably some of the only hopes.

Great review as always and love the look of that car and the new Astra that's coming. But why do car companies always give you guys the top spec cars, when they are the least bought. I already know the answer is aspirations.
But I think car reviews should be done on the bottom spec cars to show the public what will actually be bought instead. May be a bit boring you might say, fair enough. But it might improve the bottom spec cars when they are shown under the spot light of here's a list of options you dont actually get for your hard earned 31K.
It's what I would do or even follow up in another video with the bottom spec.
Anyway keep up the good work.

hi Paul - you're right about the lesser specs and to be fair, Peugeot have a lot of 'Allure' models on fleet too, this GT spec just took my personal fancy. I'll take an Allure for the longer test!

Hi Nobby, another great review mate, keep it up. You mentioned the PSE version was being considered....did you hear this from PSA employee? Ever since the launch ive been interested in this car however the Boss of Peugeot ruled it out at the time as reported by car journos.... A PSE version is the only thing that will get me out of my 308 GTI and into the new one

I'm thinking about buying one of those in 1-2 years. It will either be this one or a 2020 challenger. The only thing kind of stopping me buying the Peugeot is that the 1.2 petrol engine is kind of weak. If a GTI model comes out in 1-2 years from now i will 100% get one asap.

Don't forget that Peugeot bought Opel and they put their people as chief designer and ceo, 86%of parts in new Astra is shared with Pug, so basically you are buying a new Peugeot just from Russelsheim. Same thing is with Alfa where the new Ceo is Peugeot last vicepresident.

Great review and I thought I had found a suitable replacement for my diesel estate, looks good and lots of features. However this was before I had a test drive and the steering wheel is an outright deal-breaker, I just can't understand how it got approved for anybody 6ft and over. Yes, you can make it work if you lower the seat down and the steering wheel itself, but you then have your hands getting caught if you are turning. In all my years of driving, I've never had to sacrifice driving position just to be able to see the instrument panel. A classic case of appearance over functionality.

I like the look of it. What I don't like is the auto only option and the overly light steering. I drove our work new van today which is a Citroen Berlingo and uses the same type of steering, admittedly the light steering is a bonus on a van but having driven some of the other PSA group's cars it's the one aspect of them I don't like ie the steering being too light, that and despite their being auto only I'd heard mixed reviews of the auto gearbox ie they're very indecisive and the manual gearbox which I know isn't an option is quite notchy so maybe the auto isn't a bad thing. How far did you get out of it before the battery ran out of juice and what mpg did you get out out of it with a dead battery?

The Berlingo/Partner and Citroen C4 Picasso actually share the same platforms, am certain of that with a compatibility of 65% for non=styling parts. Anybody who has worked on these cars know what stuff they are made up of. There is also some level of compatibility for components with the 308 of maybe 30%.

I can't drive Peugeots. Even though many of the models have enough front seat travel, at 6 ft 4 I have the front seat all the way down and steering wheel all the way up. I have very long legs. Their cockpit system is ridiculous. The instruments are obscured to me. That's UNSAFE. If you are going to do that sort of system, you need it at a visible height at all settings that travels up and down with the wheel, and even smaller wheel size at the top half. They don't have to go full yoke, although that would be better again for visibility. Toyota's coming yoke is awesome, much better than Tesla's, and Peugeot should think about competing with that.
