Might be worth trying the non-hybrid options at some point, particularly the petrol, just to see how differently it behaves (300kg less, different suspension setup, that sort of thing).
I just hires the 1.2 petrol wagon for two weeks . Drove it around Scotland and dropping it off at Heathrow. I’m impressed the care drives great. Sticks to the road like shit to a blanket . Smooth as. No noise and the suspension is great even on some pretty rough surfaces. It’s a 3 cylinder motor. It is noisy on hard acceleration. Sounds like a motorbike then. Boy racers will love it. Not so sure about the touch screen. Didn’t spend the time to get up close and personal with that. The car looks great and the seats are great. They look like they will go the distance as well. It is difficult to get in and out of in tight spots in a car park.
It does look great. You can get a high spec 180hp hybrid for 34k as a special launch deal and its quite tempting....same torque as the 225hp. But given your observations on the engine a test drive is definitely in order. Update: I just sat in one at my local dealer and as you say, the interior is very impressive, as is the infotainment with wireless android auto.
Glad that some manufacturers are going for comfort over sportiness in their ride set up, as I think that probably half of drivers prefer that. Looked like a massive panel gap, ( i gap?) from door to wing, from your side mounted camera shots, and with all of the electronics in the cabin I’d worry about long term reliability. Another great review though Mark, they’re now consistently excellent.
Bit mean on James Miller that. 😂 Such a shame it's not more dynamic. Remove the good drive and you might as well look in a different class to get the same/better practically.
Yeah. Not keen on the new badge. I think they could have gotten away with it if it was like...3D but with it being flat and plasticy...also...it reminds me of the old Proton logo!
Great and original review of the new 308 as all the reviews I've watched on TH-cam (and that's a lot) follow the same format and same detail. Enjoyed this one.
I think it looks great, but hearing that engine screaming for mercy sums up the rest of what’s on offer… If forced to, I’d buy the petrol (1.2) and save the money (and 300kg of weight).
So, what happened to the panorama roof? How is the 360 camera work? Is the adaptive speed control? What about lane assist? What happended to the parking assisit? Is the sound still there? The steering wheel seems a bit German, look at the speed control? Can you fold the seats from the trunc? The car is lower that the previous 308, is it ok? It is A GT model, which is a bit over the top for the price. The interior is black! Why? What about the seats and headrest? It is fitting you? We look forward to the second drive. Keep up the good work.
Dude I like your content a lot, but what the hell with this review; You didn't review a lot of things of the car, besides how it looks, the trunk and how it drives, those are not the only things that make it a great choice in this segment. I've been watching a lot of reviews of this car, for months, because it's in my shortlist, and I honestly felt like you were trying a totally different vehicle, Honestly I had to check that you were talking about the 308..and the jokes omg..You missed the point here mate..The Safety and ADAS is great, the gas savings, great...The infotainment is so much better to the actual competition, is not close, the thing is good, I tried it with skepticism (I like physical buttons) and I was surprised! Compare this to the new Golf, The Focus, side by side, and you have the 308 being the best in the important things..I owned a Focus and is not comfy at all, BUT HEY IT DRIVES GREAT SO MUCH FUN...and the Golf has the history, but have you tried the steering wheels buttons...even compare it to the A3, A200, Mazda 3, and for the price is a much better deal...at the end the goal is to review the things and details that makes a daily driver, a great car, and the 308 is very close to that.
"maybe a fang, I don't know, might be a tiger... or a lion... i don't know..." - while reviewing a car that sports a lion in its emblem. Seriously, mate?
Every reviewer talks about the steering wheels blocking instruments in Peugeots. Why do they keep using the same flawed design? Overall, this car scores a meh . As exciting as a nil nil draw for Peugeot FC
There its not flawed design, all reviewers are use allot of different cars and only Peugeot its unique. If you spend more time with i-cockpit (introduced 2013) and set up your driving position then you will never come back. It's laughable to see many driver's on roads sit behind the wheel that low with eyes barely above steering wheel.
Might be worth trying the non-hybrid options at some point, particularly the petrol, just to see how differently it behaves (300kg less, different suspension setup, that sort of thing).

You got my like, mate.
If I was in the market for a 308 sized car, I wouldn’t look at any other car

41 grand!!!!! I think I'd go for a Focus and spend my savings on something cheaper like some bars of gold :-)
A Focus 🤣🤦🏻♂️
@@kalonbzh5529 serious question why the facepalm? Better handling plus it's cheaper
Not for long Matt as fords are stopping making focus
£41,000 😱 That's the same price as a 2022 BMW 320d xDrive M Sport. I know which one I would buy.
Good luck with your Diesel all this EU shit, that almost put a gun between our eyes to buy an hybrid
Bit mean on James Miller that. 😂
Such a shame it's not more dynamic. Remove the good drive and you might as well look in a different class to get the same/better practically.
Really good review, as a 208 owner, I can see the same strengths and weaknesses coming through both designs
Peugeot engineering - "How many new badges would you like on the car?"
Peugeot designers - "Yes"
Yeah. Not keen on the new badge. I think they could have gotten away with it if it was like...3D but with it being flat and plasticy...also...it reminds me of the old Proton logo!
this review sounds to me like Mark wanted to say more about this car but has a gun pointed on him 😅
(but you’re doing great, as usual)

I really like the new ‘feel’ to the review. Excellent. Thank you.
Thanks. 🤘🏻 Mark

Foxing crazy price! Can buy a fully electric EV6 for that.
Looks like you tested the engine in hybrid mode, because I have the 308 hybrid 225 ho and sounds better the engine in sport mode
Love your reviews!
Mark... is this your twin?... this was actual journalism?! *insert mike flowers saying nice*
I’m not sure how to take that.
@@vanaramauk meant with great respect. I was expecting more comedic clips. Still loved the video as always.
This guy really couldn't be arsed to do this review could he 😂
For the first time, I do get this feeling :(
I was up at 4am to get there mate. Thought I’d got away with it too. 😭😂
@@vanaramauk so sorry, Mark! I felt awful after I said that. Hope you are feeling better. Still my fave ;)
@@vanaramauk haha no probs still a cracking reviewer!
I also thought it was a fairly good review
Nice review bit down on jokes. Mark gets 18k. What a result! As long time follower, You Tube should promote this channel more.
I’d used my stupidity quota up for the month mate. 😭😂 Mark.
Good looking car and looks nice quality but at these prices will have tough competition.
New non plugin hybrid added to 308 range. No reviews yet. ( 1.2 Hybrid 136 e-DSC6 )
Good review once he was on the road. Very knowledgeable.
the Smax at 1.38 driving along a dead road with its hazards on. not quite as funny as 41k for a family hatch tho. just wow!
I enjoyed watching the Video Review. I actually like It as It looks very stylish
wish RWD's were more common these days
I was actually going to test drive this in the SW form. After this review I won’t bother . You have saved me half a day
They should of brought out the e308 with the rest of the range

Why did u use images of old models in the comparison?
Peugeot . Put a proper steering wheel in so I can see the instruments . Then I might consider !!!!!!!!!!
A boot is a hole - end of conversation.!!!
I have the 1.2L 3 cyl engine one and it sounds much better than this hybrid.
Why don't they make a sedan version of this?
Hew canny lad!
If any other reviewer spends time talking about the logo I will Scream!!!!!! The logo rates 6987 in terms of importance. Keep to the important things.
Nice, but very pricey.
41k! 😩
I never buy it because of the exhausts

The new badge is rubbish, completely ignores the brands fine heritage.

Considering it's a reimagining of their '60s badge, your point is moot.
First
Fake exhaust, small rear seat, Bad boot, slow engine, body roll, failed instrument panel, all bad. Look like I shouldn’t buy this Peugeot.
