    I watched a lot of reviews of the 308 before buying one. A common comment by journos was around the driving position. i've also seen a lot of comments from owners that the driving position is a 'non-event', myself included. I'm five foot eleven and found a good driving position without any problems. i love the view you get of the driving information right in your driving line, especially when using the built in sat nav. lovely car to drive, and despite only having that 3 cylinder engine, i still find myself going quicker than i should be on motorways without realising it.

      I think journalists make a a big deal out of a non matter as you put it. I bet they lower the steering wheel so they can see the instrument cluster above the rim, which is certainly not what Peugeot intented. Some info above and some through I guess would be the correct way.
      This a truly good looking car. I just don't know how the 3 cylinder is in everyday use and especially on highway speeds. How do you like it so far?

    • @andyfulton8120
      @andyfulton8120 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@WeeFreeMan78 if no-one told you it was a 3 cylinder engine you wouldn't know. Round town or on the motorway you never feel short-changed. i tend to cruise at around 80 mph and it seems effortless. like all (most?) turbos it can suffer from a momentary lag when you pull away at junctions, but past that it's perky enough. I've had plenty of people cricking their necks when driving by so it's clearly a car that stands out.
      I've got the SW version and can understand that a 1.2L 3 cylinder engine sounds like a complete mis-fit, but honestly, it really isn't.

    In the 308, lifting the seat up also tilts the seat forward, lowering the angle of your hips to knees. I drive a 2016 308 SW allure premium. I'm 6f 2" and I love the steering position. I have about 4" of space between the bottom of the wheel and the top of my legs. In a Peugeot I-Cockpit, you need to adjust seat height, back rest angle and wheel position in order to make it work.

  • @lorenzwiedemar1837

    The steering position is often negatively mentioned in the Peugeot tests. However, when I first shoved my but into a 2018 308gt, i immedistely knew, this is built for me. I wouldn't want it any other way. In gact, agter driving thst Peugeot for one year, i had to lend my neighbour car cause my daugther used my car for her vaccation. When i sat in the driver seat of my neibours Saab 93 it really felt ankward. That biiiig stearing wheel in front of me reminded me of a ship steering wheel.

      I kind of agree but I kind of know that it is wrong. I have the same motor on a bigger car and it has a very good punch. So the question is why you need more power? For my self it purely ego, if someone ask I want to tell them (insert more hp). While driving, very good and no problem.

    For the most comfortable driving position the top of the steering wheel should match shoulder height. So having it that low is the right setup.

    Interesting review. We have had a 308gt premium 1.2 petrol since November 2022, built in France and without a charging plate, visio park 3 (auto parking and sky glass roof) because Peugeot forgot to inform us that lockdown upset their suppliers delivery? Otherwise a great car to drive and the colour (Olive ) turns heads. Unfortunately Peugeot is a rubbish company and useless customer care. So be warned.

    Alot of whining about the motor, try it. I drive the same motor in a bigger vehicle and it is a good punch. This one is lighter and even faster and have a higher top speed. So is it a sport car, no. Is it very slow, no. How often does one need to drive over 200 km/h or a sport car acceleration? These people would buy a sport car, this is one of the best looking cars out there with a totally okey with punch. So how often does people do street races in here?

    See how someone at 5ft 10 (ok, 5ft 11 lol) struggles with the driving position cause the wheel is touching his legs if he wants to see the instruments? it has been proven time and time again that Peugeot's new cockpit just doesn't work for anyone other than those in a verry narrow height range, yet they insist on keeping it.
    I think if they are going to keep doing this they need to investigate a Yoke like the coming Toyota Yoke wheel, to allow it to be raised higher without instrument obstruction.
    Edit, this is a really big issue.. I honestly thought I would love this car as I thought the outside was class, but all this review has done is put me off the Peugeot brand entirely. I just can't understand how it gets a pass when the driving position is so bad for anyone over 5 ft 9 or how absurdly priced it is and how SLOW it is. I just realised they are reviewing the top spec non PHEV 1.2 litre. This is a 54 grand car people. Tell me Peugeot aren't NUTS.

I'd say it depends when you buy and what generation, the older ones are garbage with a side a more garbage, but the new stuff looks nice and drives pretty OK.
