Loved the way you made use of what you already had in your pantry. Taking advantage of other suggestions as well to make variations for what’s in my pantry. I appreciate this video. Thanks ❤
I just made some and I had to use spaghetti. I found out you can break it in thirds and put in your blender. Pulse the blender 4-5 times and it breaks the spaghetti up perfectly.
NO - DO NOT STIR OCCASIONALLY! Just like cooking a pot of plain rice - do not lift lid until time is up. Product will be best if you then take off heat (lid still on) and let it sit for 5 or 10 minutes. THEN remove lid and stir/fluff.
I do them in zip-lock baggies. I do quart bags with a rice and vermicelli or orzo, and snack baggies with either chicken or beef bouillon, seasoning, and some dehydrated veggie powder. I can choose which pasta and which flavor of bouillon I want, and add some canned chicken or roast beef to make a complete dinner. They store nicely in a bin on my pantry shelves.
Thanks for this information and wonderful instruction. I will definately make this, but in smaller servings as I live alone at 87 years old. I buy Key Stone beef from the company by the case. I could maybe use part of a can sometimes. Thanks again
Love this! I reckon I can add freeze dried or dehydrated broccoli, maybe dried mushrooms..this is great! Just a note: why haven you been making more videos? I love listening to you..its like a visit with a neighbor!
Great tutorial. Thank for sharing. BTW, my daughter and husband moved to Alabama a little over a year ago and they love it except for the tornado warnings. I visited her last year and loved it too! Living in Las Vegas with it’s desert environment made looking at all the greenery in your state like a drink of cool water. She lives in Tallassee and her husband is in the reserve Air Force after both of them served their 6 years active term.
Thank you! I love Rice-A-Roni but it is too salty and you don't get much in the box for the price. This is a great idea and I'm going to do it. Thank you just found your channel and I am now a new subscriber.
This just popped into my feed. I already have this recipe it’s close to the one I use. But I going to give this a try maybe today. These comments are something indeed. 😂😂😂
Thanks for the comment. 😀. FYI one thing I’ve tweaked since this video is I add a little more garlic, but that’s more to my family’s liking. Just tweak it away!
If you need to stay away from MSG Aldi's has a brand of their chicken bouillon that does not have it in it .. I am severely allergic and have a severe reaction to monosodium glutamate AKA MSG I use a lot of Aldi's brands and the price is excellent compared to having to buy a healthy choice or an organic something ...
@@jessegpresley do you not know about MSG? Haha “MSG has been linked with obesity, metabolic disorders, Chinese Restaurant Syndrome, neurotoxic effects and detrimental effects on the reproductive organs.”
Yep! A staple in my pantry. Love to make fideo sopa (like a soup but slightly thicker) with tomato sauce and chicken broth. My favorite fideo is made by Moderna and can be found in the Mexican aisle in bags.
New to your channel and loved this video… I was curious since your vacuum sealing it could you just put the spices in with the pasta and rice directly instead of having it to put it in a little bag?
No you cannot put the spices in with the macaroni and rice. Because you have to brown that first, then add the water Or broth. Then you add the Spice To the liquid. Okay... It needs to be separated.
I think you would be okay to not food saver them if you don't have one and just make sure your jars are tight. You could also make some up and put them in storage baggies. I'm using the food saver with mine because I made up so many.
Sure, you could use beef boullion. I'm not sure it would taste exactly like the boxed version. I plan on trying out some different options for beef and will be doing a video soon, so stay tuned. Thanks for the great comment!
I used to make my own spaghetti sauce from scratch and then dehydrated it. I no longer do that. It's partly to do with my low back and the constant pain I live with.
So... save $$ by making your own rice-a-roni, but use expensive par-cooked rice and expensive pre-broken spaghetti noodles? Doesn't make sense - either make it yourself (break own spaghetti, cook own rice) or just buy the cheaper rice-a-roni!! SMH.
Thank you for your comment. Remember this video is an older video... “Expensive par-cooked rice” was bought in bulk and was a HUGE bag from Sam’s. I used both pre-broken spaghetti because I had it and when I ran out of it I did use broken spaghetti which worked wonderfully. This project was also about using the spices a person would most likely already have in their pantry to make, as the title states, inspired kits for their pantry to give them some options. I do appreciate the discussion and in the end, especially with how inflation has impacted all of us, every viewer has to glean from older videos what works for their family in today’s environment. Have a great Labor Day and blessed week.
Why do you have to be so negative friend. Shes giving you an option for rice-a-roni. Shes not giving you instructions on how to make a rocket engine. Something that might tickle your taste buds a little. Break your own spaghetti huh... lol... Have you ever had arthritis so bad that you can barely hold a fork. Try breaking a box of spaghetti with that pain. Parboil taste better to me than the regular rice does. So, I use parboiled. It is also better for you than the regular stuff. You probably haven't even tried her recipe to see if you even like it. Sometimes, the few extra cents you spend is well worth it. Maybe give it a try before you condemn people for what they do. Then again, maybe you like the cheaper stuff. Some folks don't.
I just stumbled on your channel. I’ve never seen parboiled rice before. I will have to look for it! Thanks for this recipe idea! I have been saving my spaghetti sauce jars (they are Atlas canning jars) for a while. I used to give them to my neighbor who cans veggies from her garden but I think I’ll use some to make this recipe. As for the cost question some people raised, I don’t think cost is the point here. This idea is that you’re making something that’s easy to prepare, shelf stable, and that doesn’t contain a lot of questionable ingredients! I love it! Thanks for sharing!
Fast forward 4 yrs since this video and those boxes are expensive and sometimes have bugs. So Ms Alabama Thank You for sharing this!

Thanks for this shelf stable delicious meal
I use Risoni Pasta 😊
I would love to see how you vacuum seal the jars. I just bought a food saver, but I am not sure how to use that function.
Very convenient idea. Thank you.

Great idea!
How are servings per jar?
Pronounced Fey-Day-Oh. Great recipe!
what size jar?
I add some Curry Powder, then throw in some veggies
Perfect meal, with a squeeze of lemon juice

I'd love to see a DIY chicken bouillon powder recipe! I try to limit msg in my cooking.

You know there are measuring lines on the side of the Mason jars. 1 cup rice.....easy.
And no added junk that the food people add! Homemade is always better!
