My umbrella will not close, it has gotten stuck in the past but then I would "yank" it and eventually it would release and I could close it. That does not work anymore. Do you have any recommendations as to what i could do to get it to close?
Mike C. from Palm Springs CA sent me an idea to put a piece of tape over the bolts if you have to open the grip up. That will keep the bolts in place and won't have to worry about the pulleys coming off. Thanks Mike!!!
Great video - I have the older model AKZ with the wrap around cord lock. I had to take the entire assembly off to figure out that the cord lock was stuck due to being wedged a little sideways. I broke part of the spring in the process. I have since ordered a new lock from your website. Thank you for the video / made the process doable!!!

I only wish I noticed the link to your parts before now. In just googling around I unfortunately did not land on casualfs and ended up with multiple cords being delivered and purchased from the hardware store.
Way more complicated than you made it look. I'm a really handy girl and this was a HUGE pain. Nothing stayed in place. Kept losing pieces. Spent entirely too long on this project.

I watched this 2 years ago when one of the cords snapped and thought "too difficult, pay a pro." So I did. $107.13. Ever since then the umbrella has been very difficult to raise, a "snap" occurs halfway up, and the deployment cord is showing serious wear about 14 inches from the endpoint in the middle of the canopy. I took the top section apart and discovered they never replaced the pulley mechanism, so the cord has been rubbing against bare metal. I'll be giving them a call tomorrow to see if they are willing to make it right, but if not, I'm faced with finding a replacement pulley mechanism AND figuring out the magic of that final step.

Our 7 year old AZK will not open this year. The crank on the post spins freely but does nothing. Can you tell me what the problem could be? I’ve watched all of your videos but don’t see this problem addressed.

Want to thank you for your video. Around 2016 the only video out on these umbrellas were you taking you umbrella to the local shop for an expensive repair. So in 2016 I re strung the umbrella myself after all the bolts and wheel pulleys fell out. I was in shock but got it put back together. Now 2022, yes your video is 3 years old now but totally reduced the stress of restringing this umbrella! 5$ string from the depot and about an hours worth of time. Thank you! And yes.. handle bolts heads taped before removing outer side handle cover is a first timers life saver. And loved your way to melt two cords together! Thanks again
I'm glad it helped you out!!! Be careful with the cords from the stores. Treasure Garden uses a special Kevlar cord because of the amount of stress on these large umbrellas. my umbrella gets stuck when I crank it forwards to open and the cord gets really tight, then I crank backwards to close it a bit and it releases the tension but continues to open up and gets stuck again and then I crank it forwards to open again and it works and opens all the way without a problem. do you have any idea what is causing this? I am basically cranking it back and forth depending on what gives and it just opens in either way. closing the umbrella is also in a similar way, back and forth.
Many times the Loop Lock, which is the clip that slides up and down the front of the main mast, gets stuck on the stopper. If you spray some silicone on to the tooth where the stopper goes into the Loop Lock, that may take care of your problem.

It is hard to say but the deployment cord might be too short causing that. You can try to adjust the length of it where you tie it off. Hopefully this helps!
Literally cannot do the very last step, the cord won’t come out of the bottom of the umbrella hub and after all that work I’m stuck dead in the water….ultra frustrated.
Looking up in there the cord appears to be wrapped around a pin or something up in there, but this model is literally exactly the same other than that very clear difference.
@@WadeBieryBasically, there is a piece of metal with the cord wrapped around it a couple of times. I have seen where the metal breaks down the middle and the cord pushes it out to the sides wedging it to the walls making it hard to come out. Usually, the cord hangs down but that doesn't sound like the case for you. Possibly use some hook tool to reach up there and pull it down. Worst case scenario would be to replace the runner (plastic hub where the rope is tied off). Here is a link for you if you need to do that.

Is the cord blocker out of the grip? Or, is the grip not coming down the main mast?
Is there a diagram / schematic of the AKZ that shows the various parts and pieces?

@@WadeBiery Hi Wade. that sounds like the older spring lock which is typical. You can't reach up there with needle nose pliers and grab it?
