I just washed my Treasure Garden Sunbrella market umbrella with 303 Milti-purpose wash. I removed it from the frame and placed it on a tarp and used a soft brush. It was time consuming. I have a cantilever with O'bravia fabric. Anyone know if it can be put in a washing machine? If so, what cycle and what detergent? Also, can i use the same bleach cleaning solution that is acceptable for Sunbrella on the O'bravia fabric?

Nick appreciate this information. Do you have some experience with repairing a rotating hub on a patio umbrella? The foot pedal moves the release up but the column refuses to turn. Frustrating as I see no way to disassemble for inspection.

I am trying to re-assemble the top housing unit where the umbrella hangs from, 9:30 - 11:00 in your video. How do you keep the bushings keeping the pulley inside the tube at the front in place? I have to manipulate mine to keep them on and that screws up my ability to keep the bottom front bearing-bushing alignment in place before I start trying to align with the plastic piece inside. In your video your bushings don't move on the white cap. I can't the see the bottom, but assuming it is on there because you just lift the casing up and everything fits great. I was thinking your small silver bushings are staying in place from grease? You do that piece in 1:30 and I'm on several hours because I can't get the silver bushings to stay in place. Only time the piece seals properly is when the internal bushings come out and are threaded through the bolt keeping the two pieces together because they fall out. It would be helpful to understand how the bushings on the white cap where the pulley is inside just sit there for you. Thanks.

My canopy when cranking does not want to suck up into tube for stability any more. It will go to about a inch short of going all the way into the top.

After watching a few repair videos about umbrellas you quickly ascertain that regardless of price or features we’re all being sold misengineered and cheaply made items…

My umbrella will not close, it has gotten stuck in the past but then I would "yank" it and eventually it would release and I could close it. That does not work anymore. Do you have any recommendations as to what i could do to get it to close?

these umbrellas are much easier to repair if you are working on a table rather than the ground

Replacement cord $35 in this video and Amazon has some cords for $10, does anyone know the difference? I've noticed that the original patio umbrella cord is stiff and behaves like a wire, would a regular paracord work?

Hi Nick, is there anywhere I can contact you? I have an umbrella which has issues closing/opening. It’s been in open position for over a year in a house I just bought. I tried closing it but the string tends to become lose/tight but the umbrella doesn’t close at all. The umbrella ribs aren’t moving. The middle of the umbrellas inside is also hanging off the middle as if it hasn’t contracted fully even when I try to open it fully. Let me know if I can text you some pics somehow.

So I have an umbrella similar to this one and I recently bought a canopy for it from Amazon. Well it doesn't have a zipper and I'm clueless as to how to put it on!

Thx a lot. I followed your instructions step by step and succeeded to replace the crank cord without any issues. I had to drill the 2 upper screws so the mecanism could get out of the tube. I replaced the screws with a tyrap for the moment.

My AKZ umbrella won’t fully close - the grip hub won’t slide all the way down to the crank handle, it sticks about two feet above it (it makes a metallic sound where it sticks). Is this caused by a problem with the crank side cord or the deployment cord side? Thank you.

What is the bottom cord connected to. I seem to have a cord that’s connected to the lower part of that shaft that snapped

Our 7 year old AZK will not open this year. The crank on the post spins freely but does nothing. Can you tell me what the problem could be? I’ve watched all of your videos but don’t see this problem addressed.

Would you or anybody leaving comments here happen to know of someone that is in the business of doing repairs on the Treasure Garden AKZ-13 Cantilever umbrella, the one pictured in this video and not their newer updated version. My issue is that as the umbrella is being cranked up, when it gets near to being fully open, the cord gets VERY HARD to crank and you get the feeling like you might snap the cord because the tension is so high. Treasure Garden has been little help in helping me find someone in the Sacramento area that can figure out what is binding up as it reaches full open and get it repaired for me. In fact I was told that this "issue" is why they went with a totally new design in their newest 13' Cantilever umbrella.

Great video - I have the older model AKZ with the wrap around cord lock. I had to take the entire assembly off to figure out that the cord lock was stuck due to being wedged a little sideways. I broke part of the spring in the process. I have since ordered a new lock from your website. Thank you for the video / made the process doable!!!

Was the slit near the umbrella support installed backwards in this video? See video time 10:05. It appears the cable would pass through the slit if it were installed on the opposite side within the gemel hinge. If it is installed backwards, it seems like the cable could fail prematurely.

My tilt lever has popped out. How do I get it back in. The cord seems to be fine. There is a lot of tension when I try to crank up or down. I just can't figure out how to get the tilt lever back in place.

I watched this 2 years ago when one of the cords snapped and thought "too difficult, pay a pro." So I did. $107.13. Ever since then the umbrella has been very difficult to raise, a "snap" occurs halfway up, and the deployment cord is showing serious wear about 14 inches from the endpoint in the middle of the canopy. I took the top section apart and discovered they never replaced the pulley mechanism, so the cord has been rubbing against bare metal. I'll be giving them a call tomorrow to see if they are willing to make it right, but if not, I'm faced with finding a replacement pulley mechanism AND figuring out the magic of that final step.

Way more complicated than you made it look. I'm a really handy girl and this was a HUGE pain. Nothing stayed in place. Kept losing pieces. Spent entirely too long on this project.
