"That will take you longer than you think..." No kidding. Thanks Zackary, after watching this video a couple of weeks ago I hiked the Mt Lukens truck trail and finally made it to the highest point in the City. Took way longer than I anticipated and I ended up coming down in complete darkness without a light. I've had this wild idea of doing a bad-idea-ride from the low point (Wilmington) to the high point of Los Angeles (Lukens). More research is needed, but this video helps. Thanks!

      That's a cool idea though.

Another great video and another route to add to my to-do list. The drone shots look awesome!!

Thanks Bob. You've covered so much of LA, I'm surprised you haven't done this yet!

Can’t wait to try that. I also heard of the Montrose road ride.

That one's a beast. Go with someone who's done it before. Even the fast ride splits into two.

I just rode to Mt. Lukens for the first time couple months ago and wanted to avoid route 2 myself. In hindsight I should have done your route as I took Earl Mountain MTWY up and as you say it should be avoided, it has about a 2 mile hike-a-bike section and is very steep. I also went down Haines Cyn Mtwy and that was rough. MTB would be better but there are sharp rocks everywhere and it would be ugly if one went down. Love the videos, on my way Patreon now

i also came down haines and it's a bit of work coming down on a gravel bike. going up from the fire station is good going up grizzly i think is a bit easier

@@zzzwillzzz Haines sounds like crap, but I'm going to give it a try on my gravel bike anyway.

You can even couple it w Josephine Peak if you're looking for more.

Now I want to go back up there after 50 years and see if I can still find the single track on the Haynes canyon side which is half the distance with more elevation change if I can still find it.

We just hiked most of Haines Canyon last week, and there was no snow to be seen!

We filmed this on Feb 6th. I thought we'd see a little more than just that patch.

Nice shirt at the beginning. Have you raced WS100? Great (very underrated) content!!

I was working towards it. I did run part of the course for the Way to Cool 50k, but soon after the injuries piled up. Good news: I took up cycling instead!

Is there a road route up there or is it all fire road and trail access?

There's water at the base of Mt Lukens TT. Two should be fine.
