      Nice catch! I didn't even notice until you mentioned. Luckily, everything has been running well since.

    Great ride!! You can add more dirt at the beginning of this route by climbing Monroe Cyn (at the bottom of Glendora Mountain Road-GMR, gate is at the first GMR switchback) that takes you all the way to the GMR shack, on dirt. Or, the pro level Baldy dirt climb is the Sunset peak motorway that takes you all the way to Baldy Village on dirt, I call that "Dirty Baldy".

    • @GravelBikeCalifornia
      @GravelBikeCalifornia  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We've done Monroe before and made the mistake of continuing on the other side of GMR.

      @@GravelBikeCalifornia What wrong with the other side? I haven't gone down that way myself but it does look nice on a map.

    Looks like an amazing ride! Too bad there wasn’t more gravel! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 This reminds me of one of my favourite gravel rides in Whistler BC!

    Wow amazing views makes me wish I had a gravel bike. I know this guy that took a mountain bike to the very summit of baldy.

      I've always been tempted to try that, but if it was such a good idea, I figured I'd hear more about it.

      @@GravelBikeCalifornia yeah once you get to devils backbone is just unrideable and dangerous.

    There’s a long dirt climb called Sunset Ridge Truck Trail that takes you all the way up to GMR just before you descend down into Baldy Village that will give this route about 50% more dirt… check it out! Make sure to bring lots of food and water it’s a hard climb

    • @GravelBikeCalifornia
      @GravelBikeCalifornia  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a tough one for sure. It also cuts into your time getting a beer.

    This ride was hard. I started in Chino and almost rode to the summit. I threw in the towel with 1.4mi to the top.

    I was thinking, when watching this video, that when going through the tunnels it would be a good idea to have flashing lights on your bike.

      Absolutely! The lower tunnel is steep and it takes a long time to climb.

    By looking at several of your vids, it looks like you pretty much covered a lot of the surrounding areas of LA. Have you ever ridden Maple Springs to Santiago Peak in OC" that would be a good gravel grinder, or can also access the peak via Harding truck trail! Cheers!

    • @GravelBikeCalifornia
      @GravelBikeCalifornia  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No OC yet, but came close. Send it Sunday was supposed to be down there last March, but Covid hit that. We were also supposed to do Black Star during the summer, then a fire hit. Definitely looking to add some in the future and taper LA back a bit as we get to some normalcy...
