Can you think of a time when anger has served you well? 😤🐻 Let us know down below!!

@@MayimBialik Anger use to be a kind of motivator to me. Anger against injustices has made me frequently, even in these days, speak out and rise loud my voice on behalf opressed people or unfair situations, to the point to be even jailed in my teen days by Franco’s police. Controlled anger leads me to win in sports, or at least not be defeated. Anger, if well managed, is a kind of energy. And as all energies, one could use it for good or bad. The trick is to find “the point”.

Putting up thoughtful boundaries / recognizing that you are free, eliminates the need for anger - this has been my experience and what I took from Pete’s bear analogy

@Mayim Bialek I just lost my mom to cancer three weeks ago. The matriarch and moral compass and glue of our family. My dad and I were her 24/7 caretakers and I was with her when she passed. I'm in alot of deep grief. I am especially distraught over where her beautiful consciousness went. Thank you Mayim. Just my dad and I. Life is forever changed. I am looking fwd to this show.

I didn't think I could like you more than I did on BBT, but here I am, loving you more! You have wonderful guests and such a 'comforting' interview style. I look forward to all your episodes. You and Jonathan compliment each other so well in this format. I had never heard of Pete Holmes, but I resonated deeply with his stories and he now has another fan. I also watch your interviews on OPPs (other people's podcasts) and always resonate with what you have to say. You brought me to tears with a recent interview you gave of a more religious/political nature. Glad you are in the world!

Great interview!! The way Pete talks about God, I can tell he’s experienced Source directly (probably) with the assistance of psychedelics. (I’ve experienced Source through healing work and guided meditation). I always appreciate a guest who has worked on themselves and it shows. One of the things many religions don’t bring forward nearly enough is joy and laughter. As an energetic frequency of emotions, joy is just below ecstasy, that’s just below divine love. Comedy is doing God’s work.

I love listening to Pete Holmes talk about anything and everything!
As an Enneagram 9, I have to say that Pete's thought processes sound a lot like my own when it comes to what it means to be alive, to be in a human body, to ask questions like "what is fire," questioning the viewpoints that the church tried to impose on me, & what it means to be "in the moment." Interestingly, almost all of my closest friends throughout my life have been 3s and 4s. Even married a 4.

First time viewer, love these types of conversations I do want to add that a lot of my friends who are mothers to boys including my mother in law always always put their son in a position to choose and I bet it still goes on today and that just a little bit ....I don't have a word for it because it does border on well you know what I mean.
I also want to say I really have a hard time being brought up Catholic not practicing now but have just read the bible that set me back because it is full of contradictions that I don't know what to make of it. I am 70 next month and I still think God demands perfection, I was brought up with the nuns and priests and black leather straps where they beat perfection into you and then you got it again when you got home, I guess they just didn't have the language to tell you what you did wrong and why. Oh I could go on .....

In 1984, I sang in a punk band about government corruption.
    It's in the book.
I have also had a mental alignment on psychedelics.
    It's also in the book.
The problem for my book's acceptance is...
I published it decades too soon.

The therapy he talks about i experience with "Gestalt therapy", you start seeing your conflicting aspects and finding solutions. Meaning: you may have a "character" that wants to binge, and another one aspect that appears afterwards and shames you for what you have done. In therapy you put an image and details about each caracter and then at the end of thr session you take a third "place", one thst finds communication between those two aspects.

He gets some into some deep truths, but he has very slights fleeing moments where his learned spiel on JC comes back to life. Also very subtle antisemitic jabs, when he wrongly talks about the "Old Testament" as it was taught to him. He discusses going to talk to Rabbis thst didn't reapond his questions but it would be interesting to know which ones did he chose to talk to! There are many different ideas within Judaism and in Orthodoxy as well. He may have enjoyed talking to Breslev Rabbis maybe...

My parents always kissed us on the lips, and people think that’s weird. There’s nothing weird about it, that’s just what we did as kids. My parents were probably doing it from the time we were babies. Less as we’re older but as kids that’s one of the ways mom and dad would show us affection. Even my grandparents kissed us on the lips both sets. We had all the other waspy dysfunctional things going on in our very white household except for the drinking and the heavy silence because my mom was Italian, so our house is weird because we’re warm and comfortable and loudly gesturing while talking and we don’t drink anything higher proof than wine on the holidays and we kiss on the lips. Because that’s weird apparently???? Showing affection to your children is weird????
