Dude. This has been one of the best episodes of a podcast I've ever listened to. So many funny things said, so many relatable topics covered. Absolute gold all the way around.
Glenn and Pete are the duo I never knew I needed, but now that I am experiencing it, I will be demanding it daily, not just for me but for all the me’s in all realities throughout the multiverse.
Well, it's always nice to hear about someone else with misophonia. It's the hardest conversation to have with people to let them know it drives you crazy. Love you Pete.
Loving the ADHD and misophonia discussions, sorely relatable lol. Great to see other late diagnosers talking about these things more, Glenn seems like such a nice guy and I hope he gets more interviews/podcast guest spots like this where he isn't asked such samey questions.
Never heard those things so very understood and so well-articulated by people other than me lol (when I’m usually feeling like a nutcase and totally misunderstood or judged for expressing such things).
I'm half way in, and I'm sorry...I had to pause this and comment, because I'm still just in shock about Pete and Glenn discussing their personality traits, and how they mentally respond to different stimulae, and as a 47 year old man, every word they were saying clicked with me. So this podcast has been both hilarious, and highly educational. Kinda a "Holy f@#$...Is THAT what I am?"
Saw Glenn and the gang at the IASIP live podcast show in London couple months back. Loved it. I've also spent many an hour laughing my ass off to Pete's comedy sketches. Glad to see these two world's have collided for my viewing pleasure
(Spoilers) When Mike tells him the SEC is next door and it all finally sinks in, the wave of emotions on his face was true acting. Really goes to show how they were serious actors when developing Sunny and he just didn't have the need to use his drama chops for 15 years. The way he smiles and accepts it so gently is so not what I was expecting from his character, so it kind of redeemed him in my eyes in that one moment. He didn't blow up at his partner of over a decade, he seemed to almost respect him for not letting himself get pulled into Paul's mistake. Yeah, he was fast and loose, and he had an obsession with fucking with Carey Elwes, but also he insulted hockey and was intensely annoying in general, so ya know... Carey is lucky Jay Baruchel didn't break character off camera and crosscheck him in that scene.
@1:08:00 The interview Glenn mentions with the "I'm from Waterloo where the vampires live" is from a video titled "Man Goes Crazy Rips off Shirt During Street Interview"
I am startled by how many of the mental health insights Pete talks about here that line up with the "work" I've been doing to myself the past couple of years. Very good stuff.
🤯 I watched “Blackberry” a few weeks ago, and I thought the entire time that the actor that plays Jim Balsillie looks so familiar. Never in a million years would I have figured out (on my own) that the actor is also Dennis from “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”. I am even more impressed by Glenn’s performance in Blackberry now. Glenn has incredible range.
Wow the thing about misophonia and the Bad Noise Makers making us feel uncared for and therefore unsafe --- yes, so much yes. (And how it can be related to trauma, sound trauma, PTSD.) Consideration is SO HUGE for me, both for showing care and disability accommodation... I'm AuDHD with a ton of sensory pain from aversions/misophonia and also am constantly overwhelmed or about to be already from other chronic pain and unable to tune so very much out, it's so very maddening and literally so painful (used to more so be very irritating or angering, though those emotions do flare my pain especially too, and that pain all together is an overactive fight or flight response, my Erythromelalgia... it's all SO CONNECTED.) Thank you for discussing this. Very interesting takes and relatable and funny!! I watched only one episode of this before because of the Handsomes from Handsome podcast, and I miss the Always Sunny podcast, so that was great, and really enjoyed both episodes!
Mitch Hedberg did smoke on stage! :D He made a joke about it during an album in order to be able to smoke, I think it was on Mitch All Together. RIP Mitch, one of the best!
I think he was the best choice but a couple things factor in here. Disney is going to choose a bigger name/face to play that roll. Glenn still has at least 2 more seasons of Sunny he has to do and committing to Marvel is too great to also simultaneously make and star in a show.
As someone born and raised in the KW area, hearing the vampires are from Waterloo reference is tooooooo hilarious! Haven’t watched BlackBerry, but I can say I’m infinitely disappointed in the boom, then crash, that BlackBerry brought to the local economy. Particularly as someone whose career field benefited from the boom. Probably not the career you’re assuming, i.e. non tech based. Unless you count using a computer to generate site plans for civil engineering purposes tech based. If you do, don’t. Hearing these guys talk about Waterloo like they know it is charming.
The lead melody in the Beetlejuice score is Tuba. Apparently it caused some issues cuz it’s hard to hear a Tuba over a full orchestra but Danny Elfman thought it sounded badass (which it does) so he said “take this orchestration book and shove it” and now we have Danny Elfman.
I watched a few of these, and Pete seems to agree with everything everyone says. He also feels the same way. Or he’s done the same thing or he knows exactly how they felt or he was just about to say that
It’s so funny, this podcast was so serendipitous. There were all these discussions I had on recent music gigs and somehow most of the topics were the same for two actors/comedians.
Between “You’re filling the space with your stupid ass fucking noise and I can’t have my own thing going on bc you need it to be about you”, not feeling safe if people don’t care, and “what if we did what you’re all doing?” I’ve never felt more seen in my whole life
I actually bought pipes and smoke them for the residual aroma. Love the smell. My much older cousin smoked a pipe when I was a kid. I use the same tobacco he used, Mac Baren Cherry Ambrosia. Love the smell. EDIT: I'm with Bill Burr. There is a pleasure in the process of smoking a pipe (which I assume is similar with a cigar). It's meditative to not only pack the pipe but also to clean the pipes (I know) etc. To me it's a very similar idea to people who enjoy tending a garden. The vegetation is almost secondary to the process.
Just now realizing they have two couches now! When Pete and the guest were sitting sideways on the long couch it gave me so much anxiety that someone was going to hurt their back bending like that! Lol😂 Anyway this conversation was brilliant! Loved the authenticity and depth they got into! Also doesn’t everyone have misophonia!?
P-Ho.....if you read these...this pod is THE most underrated on the worldwide web, and I hope that one day I'm noteworthy enough to get the chance to sit down with you....and indeed, make it weird.
20:25 this is the biggest issue I struggle with. People always talk up the concept of learning to work with the hand you're dealt. And I spent years developing that. I can accomplish so much if I'm given the time and space. But I can never get that.
I’m so happy Glenn used the word “slough” because during that pause after the pumice stone, that’s the *exact word* I thought of, soughing off the layer of *dead skin* INTO the pool! Do these people have no class?? Hahah😅
Wow, I thought for sure the phone breaking was intended as a metaphor for the film as a whole which featured a story about the company that helped destroy the landline and was destroyed itself. Already dug the movie a lot but even more impressed now
This was a really really great pod! I love Pete and have for years, but Glenn’s been with me in my most boisterous of laughs on Always Sunny glad to see he got into the dramatic on BlackBerry. These two were the match I never knew I needed for a memorable conversation. Thank you 🙏 🎉
I also like reading the book after the movie came out because I picture that actor doing the thing no matter how different the source material is. Plus, never disappointed by any casting.
Around 17:15 talking about smoking pipes looking not as cool as handrolled stuff, you need to rewatch the beginning of Inglorious Bastards my friend! They make pipes look pretty fuckin manly, also it adds to the tension of the scene but not relevant really just, just a rly cool scene
@@jeninlight I go in hopeful each episode that maybe Pete will have snapped out of it and we'll return to early days style episodes where guests get to speak instead of just sit and listen to Pete's thoughts on Ram Dass for 3 hours. And every episode I'm let down.
For some reason this interview had me on fire with all of his interruptions, but I don't know that Pete was being particularly worse than any other episode. Maybe it's just starting to wear on me. It gave me the same feeling that he and Glenn were describing they get when people are being inconsiderately loud. Just let the man complete a single thought!
@@thehaleybird Glenn comes off so polished and interesting and genuinely engaging, it's infuriating we didn't get to hear half as much from him as we should have.
I feel seen. What a bummer. I just left a similar comment. I am not one to leave negative comments, but as a long-time listener these eps are getting harder and harder tolerate. He complains about his dad being a narcissist while simultaneously, he doesn’t let anyone else get a word in edge wise. It seems like he doesn’t recognize what’s he’s doing anymore. So I hope someone who loves him will give him the feedback in a way that he might hear it.

The conversation about the loud speaker and all that really hits home 😅I was hanging out with my friend's friends one 4th of July. I didn't really know any of them. After being at a house party, we all decided to walk as a group up to a hill to view fireworks. One of the "main guys" of the group brought along this little boombox and BLASTED music as we walked the 15/20 minutes, through the neighborhood, to the viewing point, then kept it on during the whole shebang. I was so furious and MORTIFIED to be a part of this group that seemed to have such disregard. It felt so elitist and phoney at the same time. 😤😣😅
I am a huge fan of you. I would love to see you do a deep dive into Utah and why people are the way they are here. Even better, go around like Conan O'brien and do a "shallow" dive on the fifty states and how unique personalities are throughout. shallow as in a place where water is around your ankles, not in personalities.
That noise thing you guys are talking about "it's like they don't care", is exactly how I feel about people who chew with their mouths open...Like grow up, chew with your mouth closed.

"I know he looks like he's allergic to what he just had for dinner" made me cackle
Nearly spit out my coffee when I saw Glenn's picture. This is the combo I've been waiting for
Glenn needs Pete on Always Sunny as Badman for a Halloween episode.
Thank you for all of this, Pete.
Glenn's performance in BlackBerry was far and away my favourite performance of the year.
