  • Nanuk 935 (amzn.to/3rjcdDK) vs Pelican 1510 case with foam (amzn.to/3WcM2Lw) is a tough decision!
    The Pelican 1510 and the Nanuk 935 hard case are both amazing cases that have carried my camera equipment safely into different states, countries.
    Traveling recently with both cases, this video shows my takeaways from my 1st time using the Pelican 1510, and how I compared it to the Nanuk 935.

    Ive been looking at pelican for literally months I stumbled upon one nanuk and I almost cried with joy. Because pelican has a horrible color system, meaning I picked the color I want and then you need to swap latches to make it tsa approved. Or I pick the size I want with the Tsa latches and then it doesn't come in the color I want lol. I also noticed pelican only gives the better accessories to their more popular cases, so if you want a big case like me then you dont get as nice of accessories as the more popular cases, And they are massively expensive. Got a nanuk for literally half the price, life saved! and I've watched many videos at this point, and nanuk can do what a pelican can do at half the price. But man I do love pelican hard core but the nanuk features just can't be ignored at that price so nanuk def is a huge win for my pockets as I have many needs as an emt/military/cyber security person. I saw the nanuk emt case and was sold immediately lol. They simply have way more variety at half the price and same reliability. I love you nanuk I'm never goin back. ❤

      I totally agree! I really have loved my Nanu case since making this video, and I often use it more often than my Pelican case. Glad to hear you love the Nanuk brand, and it's working well for you! Which case did you get?

      All of them, lol
      Small 904 ems
      Large 945 ems
      One for at home and one for my job
      The case I bought
      (935) for a cyber deck build
      (Off the grid custom computer)
      And 960 or 965, idk yet for all my military gear and ammo storage.
      The only one downside is that the largest pelican case vs. the largest nanuk, well, Pelican definitely wins big time, and I've been hearing the pelican foam is much better quality. But I think it will work out fine.

    Every time i see the pluck foam, i cringe. I know 100% that gear setups change and that will mess up your configurations

      I actually have bought new foam since this video - and restructured it! There’s definitely pros and cons to it

    I don't think a knock test means that the Pelican case is more robust lol, since it's not even using the same plastic or foam inserts as Nanuk.
    Multiple torture tests have shown that Nanuk cases tend to fare a lot better than Pelican cases.
    Pelican cases are ubiquitous, so it's no surprise most ppl consider them to be best, but I think nowadays the competition has it beaten.

      The nanuk has held up very well since this video!

    Thanks for the video brother. I only use Pelican cases. Cant take risk specially when you are renting for productions. Also rhe plastic on the Pelican is much harder.

      Yeah, something about the Pelican case just make it feel safer. Maybe it's just a brand thing, but I totally agree. Thanks for watching!

      @@PaulMcGovernJr I bought the NANUK for one of my subcontractors. The lid is softer and can be pushed in. I like to be safe when it comes to expencive gear.

    The nanuk comes with the foam option as well..

    • @PaulMcGovernJr
      @PaulMcGovernJr  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah! I talk about that being an option, so that could change the experience with the Nanuk. But still felt the exterior of the Pelican case feels more sturdy.

    Would you be comfortable with checking those as checked bags with camera and lenses? I’m traveling internationally and they have a 15lb carry-on limit for all carry-ons, so considering getting one of these cases and checking it for my camera equipment. Thanks!

    • @PaulMcGovernJr
      @PaulMcGovernJr  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah I would be comfortable, but I would make sure to secure the equipment inside as well to prevent any movement. I've traveled with them pretty often, and usually I will bring the body of the camera with me as a carry on. The lenses I make sure to securely pack in the Pelican Case with the structured foam. Will you be carrying a lot of equipment?

      @@PaulMcGovernJrHey, Paul, thanks for the quick reply. I don’t plan on bringing a lot of equipment but a few lenses, monopod, monopod head, battery chargers, insta360 and accessories, but I’ll probably do what you said and carry my 5D with me in my sling or backpack. It’s tough when you can’t have more than 15 lbs in a carry-on and you’re traveling for a couple of weeks internationally. I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the Nanuk 935; I was going to go smaller but that case will allow me flexibility in carrying more equipment in the future and it’s nice that it’s carry-on size for domestic travel. Thanks again for your thoughts and advice. 👍🏼

    Does the Nanuk 935 come in different colors? Don’t like the orange

    if I have many expensive items to protect and they need to be kept in place, I would definitely go for the shark killer... sorry, the Pelican!

      I agree! The foam is the way to go, and I’m sure Pelicans have been gunning for sharks for years too! So it’s time they won!
