I Fixed The SCRAP Ford Kuga / Escape for just £13!

- My Ford Kuga that the previous owner was going to send to the junk yard kept going into limp mode with the engine malfunction light (EML) illuminating. In this video, I traced the fault to the DPF pressure sensor which I replaced for just £13.

They can be problematic. But this was also new territory for me too. I only tend to learn something when I have to fix it.
Having worked in the retail side of the motor trade for many years the DPF is the most common problem with Kugas either the sensor or the pipes that come off of the DPF can split causing bad readings. 👍🏻🇬🇧

Yeah I was wondering the same. But it’s a very strong battery. I can leave the car for 2 weeks and it starts no problem in the middle of winter.

I’d like to put a new one on. It’s a bit worn and I can’t see it being expensive to replace.
How did remove the engine malfunction light
There should be no black soot on the back of the car or the tip of the exhaust, as that's what the DPF is there for to capture all the soot, not some of it. It captures all of it .
If you see any soot , the DPF is damaged, it's really that simple.
Yep you're right. The black soot on the tip is from when the DPF was previously faulty. I'm still trying to fully clean the exhaust out but its near impossible to get rid of all the residual carbon.

Yeah it sure is. I've always had a soft spot for Pugs. 205, 309 and 405s especially for me.

Hi, it's a Kingbolen Ediag. There's a link in the description. Yeah I think it's good. It's the one I'm using at the moment and does the job well for me. I was very happy with how it worked on this Kuga. Please bear in mind though that it's a subscription based model (yearly fee).

I don't believe so, but I may be wrong.
My Kuga had this issue I bought a genuine sensor from ,eBay but within months the problem came back,I then went to Ford's which cost me £89 ,are you sure what you've bought is not a Chinese fake because that's what happened to me

It had a fake one on it before. It has been replaced with a genuine but used one.

I never found a genuine one for £13, more £130!? You also need to tell the car that it’s had a new sensor fitted and reset the learned values in ForScan.
be a used part no way ford would sell for £13 or be a fake copy if its advertised new on ebay
It’s a used part from a scrap car, that’s why it was so cheap.
It needs to relearn the values and DPF cleaned and reset, that obd tool won’t do it
I would say mate if you stick your finger up exhaust and wipe it out it should stay clean.. if sooty then no dpf or dpf is cracked..
Any mechanic who knows what they’re doing would have gone straight to the sensor, plus I hardly think anyone would scrap it with this fault.
Someone already did go for the sensor as it was an aftermarket part. I dunno if they had replaced the original Ford one with a defective one and then moved on thinking it was something else. But yeah, that's the main reason the car was gonna be scrapped. I mean there was other things, like it being extremely dirty inside and out and it need a new key and a seatbelt buckle, but it certainly wasn't beyond saving with a bit of TLC.

It’s used but genuine. I figured it was a better choice than new but fake.
well i brought aftermarket sensor for my pug 207 exhaust and starting to think i should of just paid the extra as i paid £35 for aftermarket and new bosch was £70 to late just hope i can get a year out of the aftermarket lol but i decided if i get anymore stupid issues of electrics im getting shut only got 78k and i had to replace both exhaust sensors and cam sensors i did get geniune for the bottom exhaust and cam sensors just not the top sensor lol@@TorqueSteer
