Interesting. I actually think your Sony one sounds great but not as loud as the beats pill. To me, the JBL one doesn’t sound quite as good as the beats pill on regular volume but when you put both on max volume side by side, the JBL actually sounded a tiny bit better.

I think the speaker sounds best at 50% volume. I’m watching this video on my way home in my car and my subwoofer was booming with nice deep bass but when you turn it up to 100% the bass wasn’t that great

I’m definitely gonna pick one up. They could have kept the price the same and I would have been fine with it. I have used the 2nd Gen version in white so much. Using it now for this video. Taken that thing on road trips, the beach, etc. Very pretty. Excited for the new one! May just grab it this week.
Beats Pill XL was ridiculous good many years ago, unfortunately it had issues with batteries catching fire it was a beast and one of the best Pill speakers ever.

stil the jbl is a better sounding speaker.i own both and really don't care about the speaker phone,music is what i prefer and the jbl deliver s.that eq is what i like.anyway floss thanks for the review.

You can buy USB C dust plugs online. I use Metal lightning dust plugs on my iPhone because I use wireless charging exclusively. Alternatively, you could also buy magnetic USB C cable where the usb c plug will be plugged in your speaker all the time.

Nah... first time i disagree flossy. I'm really disappointed with this speaker. For 150 i expected more, especially the bass. Unless your in a quite room, it's almost non existent. I've been using the cheap ass earfun portable speaker you recommended a couple years ago and it doesn't sound as good, but it's only 60 dollars and it's not that far off with all the same features. But maybe it's just me. I expected more.
How much more can you really expect for $150 bro, this and the JBL are the top of the line for this size.

Thanks again for the great content. I'm currently looking for a small-footprint speaker solution for my mac mini and this fits. It's probably not the most intended use, but this seems like the perfect solution for that. Speaker phone function puts it over the top for me.

All of the beats lineup have sounded well balanced since Apple took ownership, but by then it was already a destroyed brand
I will say, the Beats Studio 3 (in ownership of Apple) headphones I own sound pretty good in mid and treble detail, but they’re a bit “dry” sounding to my ears. They don’t lack bass depth or accuracy in terms of the lowest note they can technically play, but the bass is so quiet you can’t tell it’s there until you turn it up. I’m not a complete bass head, but every other headphone I’ve owned has had more bass in terms of volume, though they might not technically go quite as deep. However, my Sony MDR-7506 wired headphones, which cost about $100 plus a dongle adapter, which are designed for music mixing and production, sound far better to my ears, with just enough proportion between bass and treble and everything in between. Now they’re no bass monsters but they have a good bit of depth and at least a bit more bass than the beats. Not that the Beats are truly terrible either. On the other hand, the Pre-Apple Beats Pill speakers, those were the most terrible junk out there. Hardly any bass on those, even in comparison with the original JBL Flip and Charge which were nothing like the ones today, and when Bose came out with the soundlink Mini (the first “modern” Bluetooth speaker in my opinion) the original pill just completely sucked. And the pill also distorted at high volume apparently. The pre-Apple Pill XL was at least okay, probably as a result of the mentioned new competition from Bose, but it suffered from a recall due to fires. This is a brand that really got a new life under ownership of Apple.
The price is TGH! I have seen the Tribit Blast sometimes at almost U$150 at some sales. With $50 or less sometimes you can get speakers that goes neck to neck with flip 6 or even better. Like Tribit Xsound Plus 2, Soundcore Motion 300... (aliexpress prices at sales). For me to pay U$150 in such a small speaker is crazy, we`re not talking about brands like harman, bang and olufsen etc... It should be U$100 at max.
I just got the beats pill I like it but the sound, it got me a lit bit confused I don't feel it has enough bass so I'm thinking about return this and pick up the clip 6 any thoughts?,
This has way more bass than the Clip
