This is exactly what I was looking for. A video actually going into the tiny details that bring out the personality of the S24 Ultra. Everybody out here doing 8 minute videos taking the phone out of the box, setting it up, and then swiping through the home screen 3 times and calling it a day. I wanted this 2 hour tour through the settings, edge lighting, live wallpapers, S-Pen details, experienced user gripes and cons, UI POV, etc. This is why we keep coming back to your videos bro.

This video right here from Flossy made me do all three. I laughed countless times, spent some time thinking if I should switch from my 15 pro max to the s24 ultra, and finally cried when he told us that his brother passed away, and told us that story about floss losing that one last bet (about the titanium). I say all of this to say thank you, Floss. You’re a genuine awesome guy and I’ve always loved your videos. I don’t remember how I found your channel but I am so happy that I did.

I am a samsung girl. I had an iPhone before. They are good phones, but I love my icons and live wallpaper. I used to buy my icons in the past and get wallpaper separate, and create my own personal look. That is the selling point for me and the fact I can download whatever and store where I want. I got the 24 ultra and went through different videos to set certain features. Now my phone is working magnificent . It is so fast also, Battery last longer.
By the way, I love your wallpaper with the fish.
Cell signal sucks. My 13 and pixels have had the worst cell reception ever. Today my friend with s23 ultra on a private bus had cell signal and everyone else had iPhone and no reception. That ain’t a dam good phone lol

100% I am 39, and I absolutely love phones. Samsung is my favorite, for sure. I also wait 2 years before upgrading. I've got the s23 ultra and am going to wait for the s25 ultra. I honestly feel like we're going to be completely blown away with Samsungs s25. I think they have been putting in serious work for next year's lineup. I just like going around youtube looking at all the phone tech.

Floss - big fan of your channel. Have been following you for years now. One thing I discovered about the fingerprint is that when you register you finger, I'll have my finger scan at different angles including upside down. I've always done this on every galaxy and it significantly improved the reading of my fingerprint. No delays. Also same thing with the face scanner. It's instant for me even at less ideal conditions. Give that a try.

I had the white Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition with stock Android. That was a good phone.
Man a big dream of mine is during a Samsung Unpacked they start the show off with Flossy's gripes and they reveal they've addressed all of those things, SD card makes a return, IR blaster makes a return, faster wired/wireless charge, improved face unlock, improved fingerprint. I mean they used Floss in one of their keynotes before I think them doing this would be EPIC! It's fun to dream lol

@@jA-du9qw I'm telling you! My friend consistently laughed at me for wanting an SD card and when I upgraded to a phone without one continued laughing at me which really got me peeved lol. He's been a lifelong iPhone user who flirted with Android so he doesn't really understand how clutch it is to have all your memories and music saved without having to buy cloud storage (which I don't). It just sucks that they really abandoned the OG Android features we all knew and loved 😢

Then i saw later sony is the last beacon of flagship phones that have all the features like headphone jacks and microsd slots. Im gonna buy a sony phone next year.

Maaaan the IR blaster was a game changer. I still have my galaxy S6 with the IR Blaster . Samsung definitely needs to bring it back! It comes in clutch more than you’d least expect it

Modern devices have Bluetooth remotes. They also support WiFi for apps that are available on your phone.
Some TVs still have IR as an auxiliary control method, but it's superfluous. The tech is becoming rare.
If IR is truly something you need. There are IR blasters and Snart Home devices that will allow you to control "archaic" devices via an app.
I'll be 60 this year and I love tech! I work in the Tech World too Flossy.

I've bought Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra a couple of days ago. Colour: Titanium Violet. Storage: 512GB.
So shocked first time seeing the box - looked like a child's play. Simply can't wait to start using it (still waiting for a charger, case and a screen protector, getting them these days for sure).
Device colour is absolutely immaculate - outlines the Titanium frame and silver rings of the camera module. S pen being gray keeps you feel not missing the other colour that much.
The steak and presentation analogy was on point. Red would be awesome, dump these zesty A colors.

I'm 37, but lord willing I'll be 67 one day and if I am... I guarantee I'll have all the new tech. I loved tech as a child, I would carry a beeper that wasn't even connected cause I was amazed by them. It's safe to say I'm a life long tech geek. I don't think floss meant to say it the way he did, because we know damn well floss gonna be 80 y.o. unboxing the new galaxy s60 Haha 😄
probably want to keep the 20 because it's probably the last NOTE with internal storage...It gives you more redundancy and you can get them for around $500-700....I am also in the same age range and I have like 10 computers,phones, use open source on my devices,,It network, studio gear/samplers, etc...WE are out here...

I sadly can not return mine anymore! But i would. If you need to buy the S23U. It is better in my option.
There are so many things flossy sadly missed. Worse UWB Anntenna than S21U. Worse heating Materials then S23 which made them install a bigger Vapor chamber. What they of course market as an upgrade. And in my experience within just casually using my phone for 2h i lost nearly 50% battery. So unless you are in battery saving mode which disabels your synchronisation 5G etc. The battery is very bad. And it took nearly 2 months to update this shit phone. I did get my security update on my old S21 a couple of days! bevor this scam S24U got its. Just scam all around. The Pakete itself is very bad too. You get only your Phone thrown at you. Without case without a Screenprotector wothout charger. And you paid over 1400 € for a scam phone. And some paper. And by the way all the Galaxy AI features will be coming next month to the S23. And if you can not wait just download all Google Apps there are. And you have circle to search in G Assistant.

Yup I used to love the Ir blaster. Now I just use a flipper zero
but these days you can get ir blasters which will also work over google so you're covered at home and I can't think of any use case why I need an IR blaster outside the home other than flossys use case of shenanigans at the gym 😂

Upgraded from my Beloved Note 20 Ultra. The build quality, feel and the camera is worth the upgrade alone. I got the spigen Arc, installed the screen protector and lens protecter from Spigen. Mad easy no issues. The smart switch was flawless, E-Sim set up was eazy as kuf. Thanx Floss been rocking wit you since the Galaxy S3💯🤜🏿

I see you still at it. You was my go to when the samsung frontier was out but they kept killing the battery. Left bad taste in my mouth as far as tech went settled with S 9 + and called it a day fast forward 5 years later and battery swoll. Ended up getting the 24 ultra and I still doing big. You got me getting the watch 6 classic and the buds 2 pro and you on point with the reviews. Keep up the good work and thank you again.

This 70 year old cares. I love my tech. I would never buy without a trade which is in my case was a S22Ultra. I would like a 45w brick and dongle in the box. I can live with bug...it will get fixed eventually. I want to see how you do all the special screen things.
I paid 751 including eSIM and taxes cause I had iPhone 13 unfortunately for two years (tried giving it a chance it’s definitely not for me being a Android guy) out of the 1400 for 512gb 12gb ram and that’s without trading yet people are paying just a bit less for even a year old trade in so trading doesn’t seem worth it.
Man this is such a great review. I just recently bought a Motorola edge plus 2023. Came from the iPhone 12 pro max. It has the same chip as the s23 ultra. I paid 635.00 for it and got a free pair of Bose quiet earbuds 2 and it came with a 68 watt charger in the box.
I'm enjoying my S23 Ultra but will always watch Flossy vids about the newer ones.

I agree, Samsung boxes feel super cheap. Not a great feeling when you just spent $2,699 NZD on a new phone and then you are presented with cheap cardboard and nothing in the box. Even Samsung's cables are super cheap. Even Apple gives you a nice quality braided cable and Samsung gives you a $1 cable.
I'm 62 and love my phones. When you said 7 years of updates and I realized I'd be 69, I gasped. We older nerds are out here. 😅😂

The galaxy S 24 ultra is a beast, hands-down, and another great one by flossy Carter down. Awesome job.
Finally a review that attacks the biometric issue. This should really be fixed, and after 2 weeks with this phone, I had to go back to my iPhone, and I really don't want to use Apple products, but biometrics is so important when in the car, at the store etc, and you need the phone to open fast.

Or at least bring back the headphone jack. There are some people that don't want to spend money on wireless headphones cuz they might lose em 3 months in and they're money is now wasted (like me). Some people like the convenience of wired headphones cuz they're cheap now (especially the AKG headphones. The price went down alot).
@@therandomizer9943there are more who dont want a headphone jack. Im one of them. I want that space for more battery or other innovations. Bluetooth isnt a new technology. No excuse at this point. You lose your wired headphones too and wireless prevents your phone from flinging across the room from door handles and snags. Makes no sense in this day and age. They make adapters. Thats good enough for your needs without holding everyone else back.

Glad you mentioned the icons NOT having colors in the ALWAYS ON DISPLAY... and for those saying to use GOODLUCK we shouldn't have to rely on that ..

My S23 Ultra face unlock after 12 months was SO FAST.
The S24 Ultra after using it for 1-2 weeks is still slow and failing me about 30% of the time....
The VIVID MODE bug got me heart hurting. I smart-switched everything and the wallpaper, app icons, lots of stuff was looking wack to me because I used a warm vivid setting before. I feel like the S24 ULTRA screen is so good at reflections/resisting scratches but looks dull.
I love discovering new things. And i really hope that never changes. I want to be excited about new ideas and tech even in my 80s.
😊 I am literally watching Flossie on my iPad Pro. I happen MacBook Pro. I have an iMac I have had all of the iPhones. My primary usage besides, the ecosystem is that I produce music. Beyond that though I am a musician. Third-party apps, and companies that make my keyboards make the apps only primarily for the iPhone. With that iPhone has been my daily driver for ever technically. Yet I have missed out on all this customization that comes with. I’ll just say the android. But I prefer the Samsung world. Thanks for keeping me in the loop here floss. I can’t wait to finally have the ultra.
I held someone’s phone in my hand last night at one of my jobs, and was just floored. Man, I mean floored at the beauty of the screen, and the particular colors used in their customization. There’s no way Samsung won’t be my daily driver. With all this customization, it’s like literally like bananas.

The mag safe comment is sooo accurate. I have a Galaxy Tab S8+ and I thought it was messed up because I would have gaps when I was writing with my spen. I sent it off to Samsung with photos of my screen and everything. It turned out to be the case I was using 😅.
However I still holding on to my note20 Ulta. But I think its time.

S24U is such a boss phone. I felt the same way when I got my Note 20U 3 yrs ago. Sold the Note 20u for a iohone 13 pro but regretting it ever since till the day I saw the s24u came out with the flat display I was like oh hell naw take my god damn money. Agreeing alot of things Floss said is this video. Long time viewer since 2013 and floss never disappoints.
the only thing that made me change my phone besides being a techie is going from a non pro-motion screen to a pro-motion screen. i appreciate we all use phones just for a few tools we use regularly, social media & camera’s mainly. but who doesnt love a shiny new toy every now and again? 😂

I got the S23 Ultra instead of the s24 ultra earlier this month :). My boyfriend showed me the IR Blaster when I had the LG phone in the past lol. They are so cool. I do love the always on display with the different color apps, the brighter display all you said that is why I got the s23 ultra, and the rotation.
S23 got IR blaster ??? I travel alot n I'm sick of touching those remotes & a million buttons

Sorry Flossy have to take issue with the comment you just made in the review at the 8 min point. "In a couple of years, I won't care about any of this stuff. I don't know anyone in their 60s or 70s cares about mobile phones". Or, something along those lines. I can't remember the exact words because I'm 67, obviously. But, heck man! I care very much about my mobile phone, in fact all tech stuff. I recently traded my Pixel 8 Pro to buy the S24 Ultra and will continue to want and buy the latest in tech. Don't assume us oldies don't care, we do! 😅
