As someone slowly learning bike/ car maintenance, these videos are awesome.
I can't wait to see the bike done.

@Rod Rides & Wrenches I have some new pads, brake lines and cleaning due. I'll watching your videos while I do it.
      Keep it going!
Maybe doing a valve check on an inline 4 motorcycle next. As most 16 valve inline 4 sportbikes get their valves checked the same way.

@@westondifranco9313 Hey Weston, most valve checks are a waste of time unless you're ready with a shim kit and are prepared to remove the cam shafts. I've done them and never had to shim a valve yet (knock 🪵). I buy bikes where the previous owner has taken the bike to a shop and the technician reports, "all within spec" and moves on, questioning whether or not they actually checked them all... I honestly think this is something the manufacturer puts in their owner's manual to avoid future engine issue liability since most or all bikes do not follow this maintenance schedule and/or are a way to help dealerships make service revenue since most riders will not take this on themselves if they do it at all. Is the valve train noisy? Check your compression, which is easier and way less costly, if there is a significant discrepancy then you know you have an issue and can investigate further IMO. 🔧 But if you're looking for something to do and kill time this winter, have at it!

@Rod Rides & Wrenches Those are all great points.
I have a 2003 FZ1 and those bikes, notoriously long valve service intervals, and most rarely, if ever, need shimmed.

I had that exact bike, the calipers were truly terrible rubbish I had to strip and clean them every week or they would seize and rub. Great bike though reved forever, this video takes me back, I could strip and clean those calipers and bleed the brakes in an hour.

They are still available from Kawasaki PT# 43020-1089 if you can't find them in your dealer try partzilla, they have multiple PDC's to pull from and if no luck there, webike in Japan has direct lines to pull parts from. www.partzilla.com/catalog/kawasaki/motorcycle/1994/ninja-zx-6-zx600-e2/front-brake

You didn't say what the torque setting was when reassembling the caliper halves. It's the only bit that's missing from an otherwise very informative video.

Hello Greg, interesting profile pic, I can see you are a real "Thinker". This torque setting can vary from bike to bike as well as the mounting type, that is why it was left out. The focus was on the caliper itself since they are pretty much the same design throughout. Thanks for the view & feedback, I have a new video out tomorrow, I hope you will check it out.

@@RodRidesWrenches Thanks for the reply. I see you are a little cultured too :). I like some of Rodin's work. The torque settings I was looking for were for the bolts that hold the two halves together rather than the mounting settings.
