The FUMMINS AND THE BEST ENGINE EVER MADE THE 5.9 CUMMINS for work truck's.....Thanks guy's and as always GOD BLESS y'all ✝ 👍
Old nasty F-4 2 Shoe🇺🇸
Enjoy this video? Heck, yes. I originally subbed when y’all were working on the 9370, and stayed for the farming and other content.
No need to apologize for talking, I think the history is just another interesting thing.
Thanks for the reply.
Should check out Edison motors they are pretty cool they have conversion kits for old trucks
I am amazed at how much you guys accomplish in a year. Plant a crop, repair equipment, harvest a crop and repair equipment, rebuild a few vehicles and in your spare time build 2 lovely homes! You all are a great inspiration! God bless you all!
This brings back a lot of memories. I did a 98 12v Cummins swap into a 92 F350. Complete with NV4500 and transfer case in a 2wd. On the back, you have an F7 Firecat. My dads last new sled was an F7 Firecat Patriot Edition. That was the second sled to scare me.
Don’t forget these guys are on the road some promoting some other stuff including case I H I think. Extremely organized I think his word for it.
@@paulprigge1209 absolutely!😁
You wake up eat breakfast work. Repete everyday
Congratulations on remembering how everything goes together after 1-1/2 years. Awesome mechanic!
Keep the shop videos coming 👨🔧 absolutely love them👌 God bless the whole family✝️
More to come!
Scott your Father has given you the ability and skill set to move through a lot of mechanical problems, your family is impressive! Your kids are lucky to have you as their dad, history will repeat itself with your kids!
The welkers are a great representation of American farmers. Hard working and resourceful
Guys. It’s nice to see you back in the shop.
We all know you both been kinda busy with the house builds
And as always.
God bless
It's nice to see people who still make stuff happen even if it's not exactly according to spec. I am 58 grew up on a very small farm and there was a lot of making stuff work
Gotta hand it to you Scott you are pretty darn awesome when it comes to mechanical things. You made the Fummins work when somebody else couldn't. To take parts and pieces from four vehicles and make it work is awesome.
Love all the videos you are doing. Keep it up! Appreciate all of you!
Thanks so much!
Simply amazing how you can repair and put it back together. I also watch Pete from just a few acres farm and he rebuilds international tractors, he's done an MD a SUPER C and now he's working on I think it's the 856. Another great farm mechanic.
Leg Arm's! You 💯 could build a Cummins!!! But time in your world is also costly! You are a superior mechanic my friend! ❤️🇨🇦💪 And your Dad is top Notch too!
Even with the mice problem it nice to see machines in the shop and you all getting busy for next season!! Thanks for sharing.
1:32 I appreciate you and your extra efforts. I look up to you and Your Father and Nick too ❣️ you show us how to make it work. You show us the way to take care of your own repairs and keep going with a good attitude and drive. You have enriched us all. I'll be a Farm Owner someday. I'm a Fisherman. My Dad grew up Farming in Nebraska and Minnesota and during his Highschool years Arlington Washington State North of Seattle. My Grandpa is why I'm crazy about tractors with his 32 Ford and my Grandpa Farmed his whole life. I will need to know things I didn't get the opportunity to learn from my Elders. Thank you ESPECIALLY Dad for showing us the details ❤🖖🇺🇲
Scott, the have a untrasonic mice(critter) emitter that can plug into truck(12 volt), an another that plugs/gets wired into house, to keep them little pests(and others) out of ur home and vehicles !!!
U just built that beautiful FAMILY home, chase those mice/critters out !! Bcus.... "u hate meese's to pieces" !! 😂Lol🤭
Good luck with the new Motor. Long time ago when I worked as a capt. on a 42ft private fishing boat I had a 903 C blow a soft ball size hole in the block with 205 hours on it....... what a job.......
Hey wonderful Welker family, whole cloves are an excellent mouse deterrent sprinkle a few around where you don't want them and they will be gone.
Great for equipment cabs and campers etc. 😄👍😎♥️🇨🇦
Thanks for another great video Welkers.
It has been interesting to watch.
Good to see Bob around. Has been helping Scott get the Cummings engine in the truck.
Believe Nick has been busy on other projects and of course his new home.
Scott, you have been doing great getting this engine back in and thanks to Bob for his assistance and supervision????-oh my!!!!!
Well anyway looking good Scott and Bob getting all the bits and pieces back on the truck. Will be nice to have this truck going again especially with seeding and planting around the corner.
Looking forward to Part Two of this video and the truck going again with a new rebuilt engine. Great!!!!!!
You all stay warm. Cold temperatures everywhere right now I believe. Brrrrrrr. Hang in there.
Thanks for everything Welkers. With my blessings and god watch over you all.
The Iowa farm boy. Steve.
You guys are working in the shop to hide from the cold, and I am here in Australia watching you guys work while hiding from the heat (it's over 100 in southern Australia today). Love your videos. PS: we had a similar thing with mice setting up nests in car engine bays. We sprayed peppermint oil to deter them.
Isn't it crazy how different it can be on opposite sides of the world! Thanks for watching!
I just put new clutch plate in my 45 hp tractor. Its dual shaft. Found out a previous owner had flywheel skimmed and step between surfaces was 1mm too deep so pulled very tight dowels out, put in my lathe and tidies up flywheel face and then machined out part back to 35mm spec. My lathe and tractor were 35miles apart. Took flywheel with me and went down to clutch man and he did a mock setup and said it needed more off, so drive back to lathe set it up again and took it back to 34mm. Why the difference. The new linings are 3.5 mm instead of 4mm so two plates is that 1 mm. Grrr. Bolted back on tractor, lines up plate and spent three hours trying to get the shafts splines to align correctly. I couldnt lock the PTO spline drive together as it uses hydraulic pressure to make its own clutch lock. Three times we wheeled the front of tractor back and forth checking everything. Anyway got it eventually. All going now and working as it should. It was the forth time id done clutch in 11 years. A little trick. When I needed to drain all trans fluids because the feed pipe to front driven hydraulic I simply used a hose from the loader lift and snapped it back into the lever block and with engine running pumped the oil into a large pale and when it coughed turned tractor off. Had to drain all diesel too as have to take front fuel tank and steering column off to split. Bit annoying because with a minor bracket change would be much easier. Engineers v accountants lol
Great to see ya Bob...
Now Scott, ive said it before and ill say it again... Id put my faith and money on anything built and/or designed by you before i would an OEM. Im sure you wonder why... Lemme tell ya... You put your hands on it, and tested it. You'll fiddle with it til its working right. I havent met an Engineer yet that went that far.
Always love the shop videos! It will be great to see the Fummins back on the road. I can't wait to see more! Take care and God bless!
You guys are incredible. Maybe since running to town for everything isn't an easy option? I"m impressed anyway. That 12 valve is pretty bullet proof, simple engine to hookup anyway.
They make tape with the four pieces of metal in it to actuate the tac and it takes about five minutes to install. Just a magnetic interruption so the tac picks it up
A piece of cloth screen door screen stretched across in front of the coolers will keep not only the bugs out of all the fins, but it will also keep rocks from being able to do so much damage to them as well. When it gets dirty you can simply rinse it off and remove the bugs and debris, and if it tears you simply replace it. Food for thought 🙂
All I gotta say is you better make that 12v scream , we need a live burnout hearing that baby spool up, best Cummins motor there is, thanks for sharing
You guys are awesome. I have lost all my family but seeing how you folks care for eachother and help eachother is a true blessing to me as a viewer. Thank you so much for sharing your experiences. It is a true privaleage for me to be able to follow along on your adventures and share in your ups and downs. I wish I had friends and family like you around me, but your channel is the next best thing. Peace be unto you my friends. Thank you again for your steadfast dedication.
We have no use for snowmobiles here in Minnesota either. The weather has been weird here. It is in the 40's today February 3. Last year on the 3rd of February we had a ton of snow on the ground & it was -1 for the high & -20 for the low. We are supposed to hit 50 next week.
Every time I see you guys do something I have not done yet I get fired up to try something new. Keep it coming. Loving it.
You area very good mechanic Scott you and you’re family are very talented thank you for making these videos. How is you’re suburban coming along
Waiting for the rebuilders to get to it. Its on the list
You should check out the Cummins swap on C & C equipment, unbelievable good job those gentleman did .
For the harmonic balancer cutting, why not use a digital level balanced on the bolts to ensure accuracy and repeatability?
Nicely done, Scott!
This is why this is my favorite channel. Any problem welkers have the solution
Awesome Video Scott!! It’s been a long time coming to see the Fummins running again!!!
Scott, I ordered some of that blueberry coffee and another type from Farm focus when you did your video for my wife and like to say thank you she loves the coffee great coffee. I know how you guys feel about the snow in northern Minnesota. We still don’t have any.
I absolutely love watching you do these kind of things and I am in awe of your knowledge and talent. Keep them coming.!!!!!!!
Thanks for sharing.
Under the intake that cavity were the knock sensors would make a mouse subdivision!! I would love to meet that engineer!!
Scoot, you can get an alternator that has a tack drive built into it. Nothing more than a stud out the back of the housing to connect the wires to.
That would have saved a lot of work and time! 😁
Kool video guys. Nick hasn't been in the videos lately because he's been out test driving green farm equipment 🤣🤣🤣
Keep warm guys. 🚜🚜🚜
Drivin' green....seeing Red....👀👏👏👏👏👏👍
And busy playing Nick the Builder.
When we were growing up in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan they closed the change shack when the temperature hit -10° F. That meant that we then had the hockey rink all to ourselves. (Maybe I told you the story before.) . . . we did not notice the cold back in those days. I liked you bypassing the switch on the drill press. You will sure get off that stool in a hurry if you need to shut the machine off. 😂 By the way, I am looking forward to part 2.
You guys rule the roost of farmers in repairing your own stuff, Nice!
That truck looks awesome thanks for sharing can’t wait for part 2
I would trust your best guess on machining versus others.. You are skilled ya silly Farmer.. Take Care and Stay Warm
You probably could use a two pole circuit breaker for the switch on the End Mill. 👍
Clint at C&C equipment did one recently. If you need adapters etc he’d be a good consult.
Thanks Scott
What a cool truck, or should I say trucks. Reminds me of the Johnny Cash song about the Cadillac built from several different year models.
Can't wait for the next video on the "Fummins."
Too far away otherwise I have a couple good mousers you could use for a few days. Wow that grey hair on such a young man. May want to replace the hoses now instead of waiting a few months and having a leak. Still looking for Pete and RePete?? Hope you guys stay safe and healthy.
We put a 5.9 in a C3500hd. To get that tach to work we had to feed a signal through a hei ignition control module with a coil and a single spark plug…..it works.
Glad to see this comi g back together. Cant wait to see it run.
I love it when you guys are in the shop building something making something it really piqued my interest great video guys keep them coming
Scott should have his own "reality" show on Discovery... his presentation and giddy joy is infectious!
Nice, sometimes you have to re engineer stuff to make it work, been there myself. I like the shop builds in the off season, you guy's are always doing something interesting. How's the house coming along Nick, it's been a little bit since we've seen it, hope everything is going good. G-d bless all the Welker family.
You guys can build anything and make it work. God bless
This family is loaded with self taught skills and it appears to extend to their others halves. Always great to have new videos.
Milling the balancer is craaazzzyy....
That truck has a pretty awesome history!! 😊
Thank u guys for a great video it really helps my day getting to watch you all
That is a harmonic balancer. It is drilled and balanced from the manufacturer. Any out of balance just transfers to the crank, which transfers to the bearings and caps. Keep an eye on the oil changes for forbidden glitter!
Nice to see it getting done. Hopefully they did the roll pin of death fix.
I hate to break it to you on the tack thing... they make alternators that have a electronic tachs built into them. We have a case tractor with the exact same motor and it use the digit tack and its just two wires. I knew the alternator was going bad as the tach didn't work anymore. 😂
Love the fummins
Your rebuild videos seriously cut into my free time! Every time I watch them, there are just that many more projects I get ideas for!
Glad someone was with you, with your knack for dropping things on yourself. Last summer/fall I left my 95 Chev PU at our property near Yellowstone. When I tried to start it in October squirrels had built a nest on top of the distributer and chewed through the coil wire and one sparkplug wire. what a pain to find wires for it. Any ideas how to keep the critters out of outfits in storage?
Cloves....
Make sure you check converter clearance. Dont want to see this hard work n blow the transmission pump out of it when you start it. Seen it happen to many times.
That was a dumb thing to say since I can now see it's a manual.
LOL. Yellow tag was driving me nuts. No matter, I understand about 5 percent of what you are talking about. Still very much enjoy watching you fix things.
I believe I'll name that truck Johnny Cash...Lol
Scott's technique is top notch! 😁😁😁🤟
Love BEARD LegAms!! Keep it. I love seeing all if the cool toys.
That step on the front tire is sweet.
Keep your cold up north down here close to newbraunfels Texas we don’t need it corn planting is two weeks away
I have Hankook Dynapros on my truck since 2018 and they still haven't weather checked yet. Of course I have 8 ply tires on it because it is a F250 Super Duty with a 6.7 liter diesel engine.
I use to build them Dampers
Worked for Simpson Industries
Them huge notches are WOW.
Can't believe it doesn't screw it up. I figured you was going to put witness marks in.
If it works it wirks.
Great video guys, can't wait to see part 2.
You guys are awesome with what you can do. Well done fellers. 👍👍
You are amazingly talented!!
Thanks for the video 5.9 Cummins in a Ford , Like it .
Nasty man it’s 75 degrees here today. 😂😂😂😂
Great video! Keep doing what you do!
Be careful with the mouse nest Scott. Some mice carry Hantavirus which can kill you!😱
I love the information I gain. Been busy & missed the rest of the 366 worked but will get it later.
That truck will be awesome!
So, how are the new homes doing? Any updates? Love your videos!
Nicks at the mudding chapter now
Hey leg arms just a head up the mice do like the newer vehicles because the wire lume and wire coating is made out of soy, so it like food for them I had that problem they ate through some wires
Yes, never a truer statement you guys are like the old farmer that lives one field south of me used to say, " A man built it, a man can fix it!'
Hey Legarms.
Get yourself an old Bridgeport mill. Mine is great and built like a “brick outhouse”.
Much better than anything built today unless you have very deep pockets. 👍
hey if the tack pick up fails to work i will send you a oem cummins damper and crank pickup ring let me know.
Nick's been slacking on his shop cleaning duties
Nick's trying to get his family moved into their new home...in the middle of -5...-20 degree northern Montana winter weather....just sayin'....
@@mmurphy2317 I was making a joke. I know nick is busy with his house. Just like Scott was last summer with his house
watching this brings back miney memories with my dad working on his transfer
Kept hearing Johnny Cash as you were describing the 4 different trucks that constituted this “Fummins”. 😂
Nice truck!
Did you consider a 6.7 , we had a 5.9 then I got a 6.7 man what a horse, however that model 12valve is a great motor…..thanx
All you have to do is pull the plastic plug out on left rear housing and run off flywheel ! ! Like I have on my 3.9BT in my 79F350
I love the way you're family farm turn problems into fun solutions.
Dang y’all should’ve done a series on this build, it’s like DeBoss Garages 7.1 ford Cat swap with king ranch (newer I forgot which year) insides
Nice to see you wrenching away!
Scott needs to relax when he's doing these videos that are mostly centered around what he's doing. It looks like he's trying to write a script in his head, and then reading it at the same time. Watch Nick. Nick has a conversation with the camera. When he skips a word or places one out of sequence, he just backs up and does it again. That's how it is in real life. Everybody does it all the time, because when we talk to people, we aren't reading from a script. Just relax and talk directly to me when you're talking to the camera. I really appreciate everything your entire family does, to bring us top quality entertainment. Thank you my friend.
Different brains are able to do different things. Dyslexia often can make it hard to find the right words. Scott has done a wonderful job going out of his comfort zone to do something that does not come to him as naturally as Nick.
It's all about you LegArms!!! Go video!
It always seems like a cozy little shop to work in
