I rarely cry & I'm rarely emotionally vulnerable. This is one of my favorite songs, but this song seriously hits raw for me. It's extremely difficult to listen to it without many tears flowing. I had no childhood since I suffered severe abuse & a lot of other terrible life circumstances. I'd LOVE to find a time machine that permits me to "rewind" & get a new beginning for my life. I've always picked up the shambles of my life & always wondered what is the next step, ultimately "How do I get through all of these terrible things in my life"? I've always asked myself this question & became self - actualized & found stability & peace by consistently asking that question. This song actually helps to remind me to love myself despite all of my mistreatment & abuse, some of which I wear permanent physical scars from. This song is very special to me since it realistically presents my life experiences of hopelessness, but it also reminds me of the positive mindset of hope that I've always tried to hold onto in my life that has kept me alive.
I’m 33 years old and I often have this song in my head. It makes me really nostalgic and missing the time before social media, when people weren’t obsessed in what others were doing, in stalking, in luring IG models lol. I can go on many days without even interacting physically with someone, it’s all about texts and liking each other pictures...
Totally! Let's go back to those times 😢
Tell me about it I was only 8 years old when this came out I wish I was a teenager back then life seemed simple
I feel the same...
I'm turning 32 in a week and can totally relate to that.
As someone who is now 38 years old, I completely concur with you.
Filter was such a unique band. They mixed so many genres into their music, Nu Metal(a little bit), alt Metal, post-grunge. Man, what a time.
I get chills when I hear this chorus!
Same
@@KowboyUSA same!!
Some of the lyrics are missing
Goose bumps...
The boose gumps are from the time portal effect we all get with this song. Such a cool time. Comedies were funnier, horrors were scarier, evenings were freer.
Huge fan of Filter since the 90's, and still cranking great tunes today. This band deserves more recognition for sure.
Amen¡
Indeed they do 😎🐲🤘💜
Yup, I couldn't have said what you just did any better. Cheers! 😊
Musically this song is so intense and rich. Key transition and chord progression is cheesy and orgasmic. Underrated song and the band.
lol... intense, rich, orgasmic and.... cheesy
Rich is the right word to describe this song. Love Filter.
Met Richard at a gamestop once. He was super cool, we talked about his new album. So many great memories with this album!
You my dear sir are awesome for meeting a legend.
I've known about this song since it came out, and I liked it since the beginning, but I never really loved it until recently. I don't know exactly what changed, but I guess you have to go through some things in life so that a particular song (or some other art form) speaks to you, and that you can fully love and appreciate it.
I totally get this. Same.
^^Yes, you liked it at first to a certain level, but as you get older you understand more and therefore you appreciate it more.
I remember when it was the year 2003, when MTV was a music channel, they showed this video, at that time thanks to that video I met Filter. Especially this song is one of my favorites. The Amalgamut is definitely my favorite record.
My favorite too
one of the best songs ever
@Kryptönïtë Scï Fï Sïnïstër wtf are u talkin bout ?
@Kryptönïtë Scï Fï Sïnïstër it was my id then I changed my acct...chill...and how did I say filter was dumb when I said this the best song ever ?
This song brings me back to high school. Listening to it now at 38 still get those feels of having so much fun, I had my first boyfriend, who is know my husband, we went through the whole time of the 90s and early 2000s partying till no end, crusing along in a 1982 V8 SLE Holden commodore, jamming out on our guitars, lots of friends... now we don't recognise the world we live in anymore.
Everything is plastic and not built to last.
Only our memories are built to last.
That is something that can never be taken away from you.
The best music is in the past. Not today.
This video is about the tail end of the slow death of youthfulness, hope, and "the dream" due to outside forces or age. Him looking back an seeing the kids wilding out is actually him reminiscing, understanding, and to an extent missing being "free", but knowing that he can't go back to that stage. Somewhat stuck in limbo between youthful thought and "adult" forces asking himself "Where do I go from here?". When you see the band rocking out crazy, its a metaphor for his last gasp of wild youthful self expression and thought. The fact that they're in the kitchen and pool alone represent the loneliness and desperation of thought, hence "I know I'm not the only one". The end just shows two lovers and a mess in the house, which represents everything ending up just being a scattered memory of events and the few people whose company you've enjoyed.
+HowToMakeBeats Couldn't have said it better.
+HowToMakeBeats You may be right.
+HowToMakeBeats It's an interesting theory. But I personally think that this is more about a broken relation. The lyrics seems to speak of a past loved one that broke his dreams and his feelings.
Although ... to be honest I still prefer your idea.
+HowToMakeBeats Excellent analysis. I think Richard's pensive face in the beginning says it all.
This song is a bit sad because the band basically drifted apart after release. The song is fitting for a band that found itself no longer relevant in the mainstream.
I'm almost 38 and I remember this song like it was yesterday!! Miss these times!
I am 37 and feel the same. The years 2000s were excellent
same here... Why i dont know
when you made that comment i was 40 - i love this tune so much
This takes me back to grade 11 in 2002. I'm 35 now. Life goes too fast.
I graduated in 2018, all through school all I wanted was to finally be free and graduate. Now all I want is to be back in school
@@nathancarroll5203 lol really? I’m so grateful for every single part of my life. 53 and where I want to be...
We had the best times.

I’m a 16yr old girl found this song and I’ve been crying ever since. such a beautiful song that hits somewhere in my heart. i wish I was a teen in the 90s. such lucky ppl.
Yeah I sometimes forget how lucky I was to grow up in the 80s and also be a teen during the 90s. They were great times.
Sameee
Chin up, check out "The Banishment - Got What You Wanted"
same... same....
I didn't think it was all that great back then, so just embrace what you have now. When you're in your 30's+, you might look back and wish you could go back to now
That chorus
Beautiful!!
That bridge...
That scream🤟😎🍷
I'm 65, grew up with rock, Cream, Hendricks to Flyod and beyond...Filter the best of a generation...Filter, enough said!
Filter's ability to mix real-world, genuine angst with a combination of both fury and subtlety is something to be marveled.
something about filter that just transcends me back in time. I fucking love this song
Still good near 20 years later
Oh man. Just had to stop by and see and hear from some friends. Congratulations on the HOF, Richard. You deserved it with NIN.
Anyone still listening to this song 12/2023? Never gets old, still fresh and will outlast the so called music out now.
🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Still am, I’m only 18 years old lol. Then again I’m into post hardcore and metalcore as well so my tastes are very different from my peers lol.
Im 38, i have my playlist with the songs i remember from 90's & early 2000's. We are the best generation, we will never exist again
2024 mate 😅
@@Birtheater4545same 😂😂😂 I'm 17
Man I spent almost a freaking decade trying to figure the name of this song. MTV was such a cool channel back in the day.
+Javier Bustos Troncoso That is funny, me too, I remember first hearing it in guitar center in the 90's on a PA system and went crazy trying to find out who did this song. The rep said it is something like the Almalgamut. I noted it and looked for a band called that, no luck. Then I heard the song a couple more times in random places and then forgot about it. The funny thing was that when Danny Bonnaduche (sp) had his reality show on VH1 he used it in a scene and I remembered how great it was and the very next day I was in a used record store and when I walked in there right in the window was The Almagamut by Filter, I was like holy sh#t! Mystery solved! The bonus was that I remember a hummer commercial that used another song from the album that was cool so it was a big bonus. Great album!
+Javier Bustos Troncoso and you didn't just google the chorus?
+nelson3300 I would have but I didn't know exactly what the lyrics were and in 2002 search engines weren't what they are today. Now I do that every time I hear a song I want to know. Or I record the song with my phone and find out that way.
I'm personally having a 90's nostalgia overload since my local radio station had a 90's weekend a few months back. Its just been one moment of rediscovery after another!
Javier its called RTV
This song is pure emotion.
Reminds me of a simpler time :)
Beautiful.
I deeply love filter's music...I think they are an example of what means to make real music
Much agreed!!!!
I REALLY Miss The Early 2000's...Some Of The Best Days Of My Life...
one of the best songs ever. Bring so many memories
and one of the most underrated bands ever too :)
This song should be a bigger hit than it is

The Amalgamus it's such an awesome album!
Graziano Murru amalgamut
Agreed, nonetheless extremely underrated. Found it at a used cd shop a few days ago and was shocked but happy
Cuando el rock te entrega más que música. Pasión, emoción y energía. Gracias Filter por estar en mi vida. Richard Patrick muchas gracias.
Buenos tiempos
Los 90 puro rock ...de lo.mejor esa época...
The guitar riffs in the 90's were so pure and regular that no body will ever be able to recreate them or sound like that again 🤘🎸
Especially as Filter were still pushing that sound in the 3rd year of the 00s....
Not even Filter in 2022?
@@pobwall2 So was everyone. The '90s lasted until 2003.
@@dvda9725 I think maybe there was a mini decade from 1998-2004 culturally. Also I’m sure the 90s began in ‘89. So are we going with 89-97 being the 90s, and 98 - ??? being the 00s? My head hurts
He missed all the good times he had for the first 4 years of his life. All the good memories he has, like when he went to that Filter concert in '97.
Tito Travis comments always randomly popping up in vids I watch. Either you're stalking or I'm stalking you 🤣
Imagine saying "ito na ang kinatatakutan ko" after not knowing where where we go from here.

I remember this song coming out in 2002 and I was a senior at my high school about to graduate. It reminds me of a poignant time in my life when I was struggling with undiagnosed depression over the death of my uncle to lymphoma and my father's side of the family was falling apart due to selfishness and avarice. I had a decision to make at that time whether I go back and finish some high school credits to get into a highly reputable University or to take the Community College route and pursue vocational training and a higher education later. "Where do we go from here" was definitely the main question that I was asking myself at this stage in my life. Luckily, I made the right decision, graduated with my high school friends, and closed my high school chapter for good. The video is a perfect analogy of my own life because it reminds me of a high school graduation party my rugby pal hosted and we did everything depicted in this video if not more. It's like the celebration of closing a 5 year chapter and opening a new one and making sure we get everything out of the old chapter before we close it for good. I think we eventually end up where we're supposed to be in life but we need to face the obstacles when walking that path; otherwise we stagnate ourselves from what is supposed to become of our destiny. The early 2000's will always be a reminder of tragedy, change, and hope in my life and the transition from being a boy and becoming a man. It amazes me to this day how listening to a song is like a time machine which automatically brings you back to those moments and you relive them like a movie in the mind.
Listening to this song and reading your story almost brought tears to my eyes. You're a good writer and I completely understand what you're explaining here. Beautiful. Thank you for sharing.👍
I swear I've liked Filter for a long time and I never knew that Robert "T-1000" Patrick was Richard Patrick's brother.
+Gray Fox Fuuuck, This blew my mind haha.
+Gray Fox really? ha thats nuts
+Gray Fox Holy shit, you weren't even joking! As a huge Terminator fan, this is freaking crazy!
Wow I had no idea. I guess you learn something new every day.
Holy shit - no wonder that I felt the awesomeness out of nowhere when I first listened to Filter - automatically awesome
I think the song gets better the more you listen to it.
I love this song. The video itself gives me chills.. It's basically a recreation of what I experienced in college.
heard this at work today
Gameplay and Talk Yup
Brings me back to my youth too. I wish I was 19 again instead of 37

THIS SONG ROCKS!!!!!!!!
Tell y'all a story. Viking Hall Bristol, Va. We drove through the worst snow storm to see Filter on The Short Bus tour along with White Zombie. It was the greatest show from Richard and the band I had ever seen live. Poor Rob ran out of air after one song! There had to been at least a foot of snow everywhere.
Yeah! I´m 58 years old and whenever I listen to your songs I feel much younger.
Even this song and vid came out in 2002... i feel the 90´s nostalghia everytime i watch it and listen to it... Im 23... but i would have loved being this age in 1994...
Yup. Couldn't agree more.
It was better man you just missed it...NO internet, real people and good times.
How do you feel at 25? Im 38 & to me there was and is no better musical generation!
The Bolt Thrower ya had to be there lol
Lord Goat yip I know what you mean! I think something has happened to most people since technology has advanced so much, like people seem so void! I don’t even know how to fully explain, but people are just so different now!
The year was 2002. I was a freshman in high school. MTV didnt have any music so I watched Fuse. This music video played and I got hooked.
This could describe people that are feeling betrayed by our loved ones anyway.
Omg this comment.
Is this song really over ten years old ??
My life has changed so much since listening to this first time around, i'm married, have a beautiful daughter and have bought a house, owned 7 different cars and sadly lost loved ones.
Weird how music helps you understand just how much more grown we have become.
Well said. Sorry for the delayed reply..I too have been busy with life. Love this song. Good luck to you!
Filter always made you feel 1994. Still does
Good music, during my worry debt free life
One of the best rock songs ever made
Filter Rocks and the Singer Richard Patrick is BadAss!!!!
I love every aspect of this song. The message, Richard’s powerful and beautiful vocals, the guitar riff. Richard simply has an uncanny ability to make you feel so much from his voice. That kind of raw emotion and power in his vocal range comes from a very deep place in the soul. I will forever be a fan of Filter! Thanks to my older sister Susy and older brother Rob for putting me on to them so many years ago.
2024 someone liked this song ?

Holy crap, everyone is like " im 35, my youth is gone " im 51 and still jamming this song. Youth ? I lived that hell I'm much happier now.
The more I listen to Filter, the more I can hear Rich's influence on Chester's vocal style.
Simple days 😢😢😢 I sure do miss them!
Patrick's voice is one of the best I ever heard... I love Filter
The layer of the distorted electric guitars in the chorus are amazing... it almost just expands endlessly
We need some Filter today. Underrated when I was in HS. Boys were Solid.
Filter is amasing...the title of record, the amalgamut and the short bus are the best albums.
this song and video reminds me of better times
One of their best songs. Love the vocals 🤘
I've always loved this song, It's amazing.
Thank you, Filter!
Song reminds me of betrayal, wants/needs, isolation, anger, frustration, sadness, a lot of emotions in this song.
My favorite song. The fact that it's fucking perfect helps.
I love his voice they're music truly moves me from the first time ,I heard "Take a picture".
Oh the nostalgia. I'm 42 now, pleased I lived a little once upon a time.
I miss Filter so much
OMG i was singing this in my head for like more than 10 years, not knowing the bands name....FINALLY!!!!!!
Congrats! It's a wonderful feeling!
Where do you go from here?
I get a tear in my eye every time I see a music video and the song is edited.
Brutal drum kit for the 90s,
I grew up with this band. Love Filter
Where do we go from here, is still a fave song of mine's from back when I was 18 years old back in 2002! And I'm really happy to see Filter are going strong as a band! Richard Patrick has a brilliant unique singing voice!
I just rediscover this song today and makes me cry because I remember those blasting times !!!
Regards from Mexico
Thank you Filter, since I was 7 years old with that great song for Spawn with The chrystal method, if I'm not mistaken, I carry you in my heart, I will never forget the 90s, although I was a child, I still don't know how I managed to manage it and watch the videos and even better buy cassettes or CDS 🤘🤘🤘🍺🍺🍺❤❤❤
I swear I haven’t heard this song in about 20 years but it never left me.
So great to finally listen to it again. It’s going right into my playlist now.
Yes, kids.
Singing metal in the washing room during a suburban party
was a norm in 2000's
Far from metal mate, but I get ya
That's what I love about late 90s early 2000s videos
Stuff like this just happens, plus the video quality
You think that's cool? We would have 3 25 gallon keg farm parties. The owner would allow around a hundred Juniors and seniors from my high school to get locked in and get sh it faced. It was great!
I love this band. Thanks, Filter, for the great music, and memories throughout the years. Cheers! 😊
I saw you guys play live promoting the 'Short Bus' record/CD as a supporting act. That was in the old Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver Canada. Mid nineties-ish? You guys blew the doors off the place and set the bar high for the 'headline' act. Of which was boring compared to the Filter 'line-up' in their mid-twenties. Awesome show, I will never forget it. Cheers! 😊
Middle school jam bringing back so many memories..
this was the best filter's line-up
one of the best bands ever!!
omg nostalgia to the max

Damn that’s rough man, and I hope you get it figured out. I am 34 myself and this video hits me hard since I’m about to transfer to a 4 year school. Hopefully we don’t enter a crazy economic depression...
Go to the pub.
nobody cares , you just want likes
Everyone goes to where they need to be. Whether it be here to find answers on where to go, or there where no answers are found.
To find the answer, one must realize, we are all our own person, through distance and destiny we find ourselves, but challenges await everyone who has despair in their own heart.
Not heard this song in years.
Think I'm on day 3 of having it on repeat more or less.
This is a brilliant song.
I can't believe that this relic is so undervalued…
Gives me goosebumps
I can’t help but think about how close graduation is and this song makes me so sad that it’s all coming to an end so soon. This song just matches how much I feel about where I’m at right now. I love filter so much and I love this song and I know it’s gonna hit me 10x harder come graduation. Anyway just my little love rant and how much I love filter. Stay safe and stay blessed everyone ;)

I just realized I've shared this song on Facebook about 10 times over the past 2 years. The song is timeless and such a great, energetic song from a great band. That's so cool that Richard's older brother is Robert Patrick (the iconic liquid metal cop in Terminator). Very talented family.
NIN
That's right. I almost forgot.
This record is a masterpiece in every aspect: songwriting, performance, production, everything. And a special mention to the AWESOME drumming of Steve Gillis. Why isn't this dude playing for a big band today is out of my comprehension.
this band ... so damn good!
These half-truths you're telling me
Won't bring me to my knees
Scraped up and bruised
From your fickleness I plead
Just let me feel some ease
From creatures of your greed
Just let me feel some ease from me
I'm not so glad I met you
It makes me want to go away
Till you think it's over
I just?yeah yeah yeah
Where do we go from here
You know I'm not the only one
Where do we go from here
You know I'm not your only son
Where do we go from here
Stop dreaming 'bout the shiny gun
Where do we go from here
No, I'm not the only one
These broken dreams are screams to me
The difference I can't see
The way you look and talk to me
Your cross at me I freeze
The combination of lost control
The loss of soul, I wheeze
Just give some ease to me
I'm not so glad I met you
It makes me want to go away
Till you think it's over
I just?yeah yeah yeah
Where do we go from here
You know I'm not the guilty one
Where do we go from here
You know I'm not your only son
Where do we go from here
Stop dreaming 'bout the shiny gun
Where do we go from here
No, I'm not the only one
