Again, this is the best review I have seen, mostly because you show how the functions is made and not only the functions. It make an huge difference to me compare to Sariel review for instance. English spoken is also a nice addition to review 2.0. I hope to see the new battery box soon on the Lego shop in order to complete the control+ solution as many people do not want to use Bluetooth for controlling the new motors (buwizz still remains a good alternative).
The 'flaps' on the wings are... flaperons. They are usually split in the middle, with the outside being ailerons, and the inside being flaps. The 'flaps' on the tail are... elevators. That gearbox... it makes one motor work for ... is it four... functions? I want it. I want to take that concept and expand it like crazy. Two motors: 1 selects function, the other drives the function. Love the videos!
So sad it was cancelled as I am new to your channel and when you showed this set I immediately wanted it for my birthday or Christmas as I love Lego technic
I'll share some details and tests with the Simple Hub, then comes a stress test to see the reasons of the failing gears, and maybe some playing with the colors :)
Why would lego cancel this set and be anti-military while having coast guard sets because the coast guard is military and ospreys are not armed anyway and used for transport and rescue normally :/
Thank you for giving me my inspiration on starting my own channel, I have recorded a few videos and now all I have to do is edit and put them up, they won’t be fancy, but they will do for a start. I love all your videos, they give me the motivation I need to stay with Lego! Keep doing what you’re doing. And also, congrats on the Osprey set!
All parts for the set are readily available, there’s nothing exclusive to the set (apart from stickers obviously) so long as you are happy to go with a different colour scheme! rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-139025/Cleansupgood/42113-mod-v-22-osprey-sar/#details
This is one I do want to get my hands on at some point. It’s going to be one of my rare instances of opening a rare set because I want to display one but the box would be carefully opened to preserve it. I may end up buying the pieces to build it and buy replica stickers so I don’t have to destroy a sealed one.
Nice video, thanks :). It's a nice example of how licensing can go wrong... and I think this topic has been discussed to the limit ^^. Can you maybe reproduce the gearing in a more open test-build and check how much torque is needed for the clutch gear? Brick experimental channel has tested the load the small gears can actually take, so we have something for comparision :D
I do not get why the did not release it, since the Osprey was already released once in 1993 as part of the Universal Building Set 8082 - BTW my very first Lego set :)
I've seen several reviews where they said LEGO took it from the shelves because the cogs are destroyed after several minutes of running. Can you validate this? Are the cogs really that ground down after several minutes?
Isn't the military use of the Osprey like, 99% non-combat stuff? Like, mobile radar dish and emergency cargo to aircraft carriers non-combat stuff. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
It does not do AWACS, but you are correct that it does carrier on-board delivery. It also does search and rescue and troop transport. The most combat it could ever really do is a guy shooting out the back with a mounted weapon.
The only problem with this is that the rotor tilt mechanism doesn’t have a mode where it sits in-between normal flight and upright. Normally the propellers would be in-between these two modes in order to gain speed and altitude before switching into normal flight. 🤓 This obviously would’ve probably been better if it was finished
I'm a technic noob, does anyone have a link to where I can get a complete list of parts and modified instructions to fix the issues mentioned in the video
There are links in the description of Sariel's Bricks & Pets TH-cam video for building instructions and for a fix to the gearing problem for this Osprey set. I gathered the parts to build this from my other sets. I ended up using black instead of the dark gray for the upper area. A lot of the orange pieces I got from the Porsche 42056 set. I have the 2 tapered curved panels but only 2 blades from the Lamborghini set, and they are green. I ended up using them as guides to draw up and 3D print them in black. Also, I used a motor and Control+ battery box from the Liebherr Excavator set.
Hey uhhh it's that guy who was really mean with the speed champs videos. Watching through your vids now I see why you get the support you do. You truly are good at what you do and I enjoyed watching this video
So LEGO will make the scene where Aniken is amputated, burnt alive and turned into a cyborg but they won’t make a certain aircraft because it is used in the military
If I get this thing I’m going to apply no stickers to the set (except for the stickers showing which functions are which) because the parts are super rare.
This is one of the coolest Technic sets I've seen in a long time, probably since the Liebherr Excavator. The functionality of the turning wings on lift off is so nice, why oh why did this set need to get shitcanned cause a few angry people protested.
One Big Dingus the functionality of the 42100 is a joke! one motor per each function is extremely basic and the set should’ve had a gearbox, or at least some interesting mechanisms like a dual differential tank drive. The bottom part and the top superstructure are basically two independent units, which is just cringey and it shows the poor design of the set. They should’ve had two independent axles run down the turn table from the top superstructure, just like in the 8043 set. Also, as for the size, as master Yoda would say “size matters not”. Imagine if we got something bigger than the 42100 but it had all manual functions and NO GEARBOX. That’s sort of what the 42100 feels like to me
the "antimilitary stance" has been lego policy since the company's inception, so it actually has little to do with your angry people. don't let the alt-right feed on your facebook fool you into seeing antifa feminazis everywhere! it bothers me more that sci fi and fantasy military are deemed OK while real-life weaponry is not - if the object is to show children a constructive use of technology and not to desensitise them to device-assisted violence (an argument I would be willing to accept), how then is a "star war" different from a real-world war? during development lego thought it could argue that the osprey would be suitable for specialised search and rescue (i.e. civil) applications, which seems a fine argument in itself. the real reason the osprey does not have civil applications is that it is still prototypical, immature tech. in military use, increased risk to operators, frequent need for maintenance and replacement of parts, and so on, are accepted in exchange for the decisive advantage the craft confers. civil applications demand reliability and cost-effectiveness at different levels. in other words, the osprey is military-tech only because the tech is still (after all these decades) not mature enough for civil aviation.
@@DrWhom but they have coast guard sets and the coast guard is military so it doesnt make sense that they would cancel it because its military when it primary functions are rescue and transport, let alone they already released an osprey
