    God Bless anybody that makes a How To video on Goldwings, cause there aren’t many. They’re fine machines but can be a bear to work on and expensive !! My 2003 clutch has 84k on it so far and doing good.

    Was it just me not being able to find this job being detailed as it is here? Glad to have found this. I was interested in seeing the job being done to know if I could handle it? Nope...leaving this to the experienced technicians, gladly. I'll save money elsewhere...wait, I'll save money by letting someone do it without having to buy all the parts I would mess up. Thanks very much.

    Thanks for the detailed video. The camera work and lighting was really nice in such a tight area behind the alternator. Well done. Removing the alternator made all the difference. I really like it that you get everything clean. You can't do good work on dirty parts. Hopefully, I'll never have to do this job. I've seen a lot of 'Wings with 200K. and 300K. miles and no clutch/engine work. I know personal riding habits make a huge difference. The "friction zone" riders might have to replace a clutch!

    Happy that I found this video, I thought you had to remove the motor on the 5th generation models of the GL1800. Great video, Thank You!

    For Those Honda Green Gaskets use a 3M Plastic cutting disc on a air drill. It come off easy and finish it with scotch pad. Had to remove a Throttle gasket from intake manifold on Honda J series V6 Engine.

    Excellent work and talking points and showing everything. Now do one for a 1500 goldwing. 🥰 Standard not automatic.

    Awesome video. Personally, I coat my new gaskets in grease. It makes for easier removal down the road.

    That was a great video John thanks for making it, I figured that the engine had to come out to gain access to the backing plate.
    Can you do a segment on the dreaded alternator clutch rumble?

    Thanks for such a detailed video. Maybe a dumb question, although is there a big difference between this bikes clutch and the GL1100, in respect to how it's accomplshed? Of course I mean on the clutch itself, and not the disassembly of the bike, just to get to it.

    Use a pry bar for leverage...and Large Socket over the spring seat port. You may be able to put the snap ring back with your hands only. I was able to install my Spring-seat and ring. Let me know how you made out. TGBTG

    Been there and done that, but engine out due to ADG failure aat 100,000 miles. Your replacement gasket was blue; was that after market? The green are mean!

    Awesome job! love this channel... but now I need help & have a question... two days a go I had an accident in my 2015 F6B, avoiding hitting a guy crossing invertedly the street and fell down (swerving correctly wile breaking, but over dirt, lost the front wheel at the end... the guy walk untouched and I fall out the bike, I'm okay) the gear's stuck in OD, the clutch works fine, was able to start it again and ride a short distance to a safe place, but unable to shift down, the shift pedal moves but... any advise? don't want to lower the engine if it is possible, and I think I have all the tools required... Thanks!

    Great video! After torque 32mm nut and staking. Having trouble getting the lifter plate to seat in far enough to place snap ring. I tried relieving clutch pressure by bleeding the line, so you have to apply pressure?

    • @ERICSPORTS90
      @ERICSPORTS90 ปีที่แล้ว

      TGBTG...need this answer as well. I removed the nut and torqued a new one to 94 Ft Lbs. I am able to push hard enough to see a little movement, but not enough to seat the snap ring.

    And this, boys and girls, is exactly why I'm trading my Goldwing in for a Road Glide as soon as I get the Wing back from the dealership where it's getting a new clutch. Working on these bikes is so freaking annoying. I'm done with it. After it left me stranded on a Sunday afternoon 210 miles from home, I was done !

    Coat the new gasket with rust oleum aluminum paint from the bottom of the unstirred can. That was a bulletin from Honda when I was a Honda motorcycle mechanic in the 70s. To coat all dry gaskets with the glue from the bottom of an unstirred can of rest oleum aluminum paint. That gasket will not leak, and it will not stick to either surface again, you work the goof from the bottom of the can into both sides of a dry gasket and put it on wet. You will never have to fight with that gasket again. That was a bulletin to all service departments from Honda..

      Hi,
      Would grease work to help seat, seal and separate for next time?
      And how about soaking or painting on gasket removal gunk, if diy’er home mechanic not comfortable scraping gasket off? Then scotch brite/ light scraping/emery cloth?
      Just a question/suggestion?

    TGBTG John I'm having a time replacing the Spring Plate , I removed the main clutch nut again and installed a new one today and Torqued it to 94 Ft Lbs. I can depress the seat a little but it needs to go about 1/16 of an inch so I can install the final Snap Ring. Im not stoking this nut until I get clearance. Thanks for any suggestions.. If anyone else have a suggestion that will help. Please and Thank you. TGBTG

    • @ERICSPORTS90
      @ERICSPORTS90 ปีที่แล้ว

      I found an easy way by way of using a large socket over the spring seat ( so as not to damage the port) and using a small pry-bar to use for leverage. TGBTG

    I had to have my clutch rebuilt after taking a "Ride Like a Pro" course. It is very hard on clutches.
    Given that--and this procedure--I would rather have this done by an experienced mechanic as I really don't want to break my bike.

    • @darkdestroyer2837
      @darkdestroyer2837 ปีที่แล้ว

      lol you would be lucky if most mechanics you hire even follow the torque specs as this guy did. But I understand some people just don't feel comfortable doing their own mechanics

    Wow, I must be easy on my clutches, I had 110k on my '01 when I sold it and now I have 50k on my '14. I had to go back to rewatch why you were beating on that nut to understand what was going on there. I think I could handle doing this but i'd rather not....

    What a nightmare just to replace the clutch?.
    Thought my Kawasaki versys 650. 2013 was bad enough to replace the air filter.
    Why can’t designers/engineers make it easier.
