Gidday Rich. Fabulous work, amazing fly. I had no idea that there was anything such as pigs wool. Pretty nifty trick with the thread loop at the end. Thankyou. I hope you and your family have a fantastic Christmas.
Very interesting pattern! Well done. I always learn something when I watch your videos. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

it’s very original tying ! it’s first time i saw this technique for finish the fly with a loop. Thank you to teach me. Merry christmas Rich and happy new year.
Thank you!! The herl head loop trick i learned from Ryan Houston on one of his videos. Its become quite useful and works so very well!
Excellent flytying technique. Question: what can i substitute the "Bustards feather with" ps: im new to fully dress salmon flies !!! Thanks Happy 2024😅
First, thank you for supporting the channel!!!!
Kori bustard is a hard feather to substitute. Perhaps brown turkey tail could be used for the long fibers in the wing, for the throat, bronze mallard I suppose could look close, but kori is much thicker and stiffer than mallard or turkey.
Just a note, if you are new to full dressed salmon flies, I would recommend starting with a slightly easier pattern. Start off slow, then work your way up to the larger mote difficult patterns. Start off with hair wing flies such as the Rusty Rat and Blue Charm. Learn proportions, material selection, and tying in certain materials. This method will serve you best! Just my thoughts.
Do you ever twist a dubbing loop to tame those spiky dubbings?
Im often asked this question but no. I prefer to twist it in my fingers.
@@flytyingwithrichlamonte I like it both ways--twist exactly like you do, then I double the thread and twist the loop into a noodle before winding. I never mastering winding on little clumps, it always comes out lumpy when I do it that way.
Adam. I've asked that quite a bit.. honestly, I don't like dubbing loops for salmon flies. For some trout flies yes. But not my salmon flies
