When I watched this video, I realized how wonderful you are as a mom, my mom is an alcoholic and she was divorced, and she was horrible to me. I had tears as I watched you spend time with your kids in that special 15 extra minutes before school and I hope that you realize how great of a job you are doing, God bless you and your whole family!

Good morning! Anyone that says being a homemaker is not a job has never been a homemaker! You are like the Marines, you get more done in the morning than most people do all day. All blessings come from God and it’s wonderful that you give thanks everyday. I do also. I would be nowhere without His grace. Thank you for the lovely video. God bless you and your family.

With your family…childhood chores are not even chore like…the kids have animals of all sorts to greet and feed and gather from and/or milk! How fun is that!! Even on a really cold morning…wakes you up and sets you for the day…bonus…someone is making you a hot breakfast and your lunch is almost prepared for you! Your children are so very fortunate to have parents set such a marvellous example for them! I absolutely love Dave the donkey (wish we had more footage of him lol) and the pig family is just so so precious! Xxx

It's so beautiful to see the love you shower all your children with. You know exactly what each of them needs. One needs a hug, one needs an encouraging word, one get a pat on the shoulder, one get a loving smile and one needs to have an adult conversation with you, and you manage to get that in, in the middle of everything you have to do in the morning. You are an amazing mother! Bless you! Have a good week!

Ruth Ann you are amazing.❤❤The gift you are giving your children is priceless. They may not know this yet, but when they are older they will recognize it as such and treasure these times. 💝
The simple mundane things are where the joy of living is. I love how you frame things like “Harrison “gets”to sweep or Elvin “gets”to wash dishes, because it is such a privilege to do these things. Not everyone is able to do simple tasks like this or they live in a place that they are not afforded a life where they could, and they would give anything to have these tasks to do. I try to express this to people I’ve known who complain about “having” to go to work, I gently say, “you could look at it like you “get” to go to work, 🤷‍♀️ what a blessing. As a person who became disabled and unable to work, I know I would be thrilled and grateful if I could go. It’s about perspective. I love that you live like this and are teaching this to your children. God bless and keep you all. ❤️🙏

I love this! My mom did everything and worked outside of the home, so I was never taught how to cook, clean or can or garden because she did it all and didn’t want interference. My husband had the opposite experience where his stepmother did nothing and the kids did everything. We made our kids help, but I wish I would have taught them more, as they are 18 and 22 now.

Chores teach responsibility which builds a work ethic & character that serves them throughout their lives. We had morning chores growing up (but it never made me a morning person. I still to this day hate mornings) & we didn't suffer one bit for it. As kids we grouched & grumbled but we survived. We have 3 boys & they have always had chores as did my brothers 2 kids.

Makes me miss going to my Aunt & Uncle’s farm each school vacation! Off to the barn every morning to help my cousins for hand milking, gathering eggs, cleaning the pig pens and feeding all the animals❣️Love how your cats follow you to the barn. My cousins didn’t love their daily life as much as their winter & summer visitor cousins did, but we all agree how many great memories we have of those cold Iowa mornings & hot Iowa afternoons doing chores together. First of all, I love the upbeat music. I can't keep my toes from tapping along with it. Secondly, it is amazing to me how well organized you are. The idea of each child having their own responsibilities, and changing them around, is genius. They learn lifelong skills. They will always know how to work with a purpose and will always be dependable. To rise so early, do chores, play, prayers, shoved into such a short time is nothing short of remarkable. Well done, Ruth Ann. I love the music, the chores, the recipes, the Zimmerman's. We all love you. Merry Christmas to your family.

Hey, I just learned on a post some place that if you float sealed jugs (2 or 3) of salt water in your water tanks it will keep them from freezing over. I haven't tried it yet but we are going to do it. I thought gallon vinegar jugs sealed with extra tape might do the trick. Have you ever heard of this?

Thank you so much Ruth! Your insight to so many things you are able to teach us. You often seems to have just the right words, a simple tip to make so many things seem more simple and obtainable. You help take the fear out of trying new things, that before I thought I need to learn more before I dare try. You help in still confidence/ reinforcement to take that next steps.
Thank you for all the care you show to contine passing on the old ways of doing many, many things. 🎉🎉😊

YES, PLEASE do the video next week on making new Lodge cast iron just like vintage, come on Elvin, you did fantastic last time you were on a video, my husband really enjoyed your info on the cold room! I have several pieces that I also purchased for a Christmas gift, they are nothing like my cast iron (that I purchased at garage sales 42 yrs ago & were old then!). I want my kids to love them as much as I do!!

Oh i am so excited to see (whenever you get to it) the cast iron video! When i get new Lodge cast iron i can never get it right. I keep grumbling, "i need to get out my angle grinder or something. No matter how much i season it, this surface is not manageable!!!" My mom's skillets that she got for me at yard sales over the years are so much better!!!!

Thank-you for another down to earth video! I grew up on a farm much like this! I'm very thankful for all the lessons I learned doing chores etc. I'm a firm believer in family chores! Keep it up! And may God bless your family. Works like a well oiled machine❤ I know not every day will be perfect, but putting God at the beginning and ending and throughout the day makes ALL the difference

Hi RuthAnn. What are the donkeys' jobs? Looking cute, of course, but do you use them for any work?

I would love to see a video of you making a hard cheese wheel. I’m still intimidated to make it having 3 under 3 and knowing it’s a lengthy process.

Awesome video! I am worried though about the electrical cord laying directly in the straw. I had one to short out in the mulch bed and I happened to go out and saw it smoldering!!!

Wanted to tell you I just love your clips! Just wondering about your husbands heart health? You have so many children to support if his health all of a sudden fails?
I am of Mennonite descent too... all that delicious foods goes right to my hips! Once you get older i can atest it is no easy feat to get around easily i so wish i had done something while i was still young like you are now. Sent with good intentions and concern.
