In a previous video, Naka told an opponent that one of the worst things you can do against a Super GM is get into an end game, where you'll always get outplayed. This was a pretty good illustration of that as Ari looked to have an advantage for much of the game and he was done in the end game.

    • @lancewildwood2277

And the issue is the clock and playing quickly, not the endgame. Only Magnus really thinks as quickly and precisely as Hikaru in Blitz chess. So when time starts getting low, opponents are going to make more blunders than Hikaru. They just aren’t as good, and there’s not much you can do about that.

at 10:34 when choosing different pahts after the pin/queen trade attack, we can also choose to defend our queen with the rook, using Rook b3 that also atacks enemy queen while protecting our own if a trade occurs. also, if that happens, the towers get aligned on the same path so knight cant take pawn easily without punishment. Htere is also a chance to go for a rook trade taking that knight and the pawn if needed, to convert the 2 middle pawns into endgame with bishop supporting them.

I wish Carlini would change the tune a bit. The old 'great move...maybe not' everytime is getting a bit wearing.

Lol okay the winning line at 3:36 was actually
    1) f4 Nf3
    2) Qg3 exf4
    3) Rg8 Ng5
and you can see why this is pretty horrific for black.
Instead Archer played Qf5 (which I would have played something like this) because it looks productive

Ari did not "snipe off" that battery H pawn. You think Hikaru missed that? You could see him pause for a WHOLE second looking at it, and decided to let him have it. He wanted an interesting game.

Great work Ari. Carlini needs to zip it during other peoples games against Hikaru. Let the player play without his constant distration, Hikaru is intimidating enough.

i think in 5:31 ari should have play his king to c7 or d7 if he plays c7 hikamaru probably will play his bishop to e5 and low possibility trade his bishop for knight and pawn also hikamaru will take his pawns after that ari probably lose the game ... idk

What about Ne4 instead of e6? There’s almost certainly a solid response for black there but I can’t see it because you just take back with the rook if pawn takes and it seems like there’s a good attack there

At the time of this video 13:07 What if the white Queen move to D7 and start taking out the black Pawn at C6 and Black Bishop at A6. The White Queen moves would be one step ahead of The Black Rook or Black Queen can protect

8:33 I feel like white should go for, after dxe4 Qxe4 because now blacks knight is pinned so white is likely gonna win it + white just won 2 pawns for the bishop, looks good for white there to me.
