even at the lower price point, i think it's fair to want food at the right temperature and a fork, with maybe less than a 55 minute wait for your mains.
As a Malaysian, I would not pay that price for a plate of room temperature fried rice, especially with that kind of service and wait. It's crazy how Uncle Roger used to advice people in his videos not to buy fried rice, instead cook it at home since it only requires three ingredients. Even crazier that he's now charging premium for all these common stuff people can get literally anywhere in Malaysia, would applaud him if he came out with a creative menu, but really his menu is not that impressive. @@jimmykimtvHonestly Jimmy, if the restaurant can’t handle the flow they should either staff accordingly or make it where front of house has balance with the kitchen. So weird, a long time friend of mine and her family happened to be in Malaysia when the Uncle Roger restaurant opened up and on the 2nd day went there. Yes, they waited over an hour as well and inside it took forever to get their food. Unlike you though Jimmy, all their dishes came out hot and fresh, they loved all the stuff they got including the garlic shrimp fried rice (which they had to get because Uncle Roger's whole schtick is egg fried rice, and my friend and her son LOVE watching his channel lol) and they absolutely loved that fried chicken dish as well. They did ask for straws for their drinks, as they too also hated those small holes in the cups they give you which I found funny that you pointed that out and my friend specifically complained about that to me for like 5 minutes :D In the end, they all loved the food, got to meet Uncle Roger and get a photo with him and I assume an autograph maybe, and just had a good experience overall. All that being said, they also mentioned as you have many times, food in Malaysia is quite affordable overall where you can get a big plate of food from a street vendor or even a good sit down restaurant for like $4 or $5 US? So the prices there are a bit high compared to other places like it I guess. But you should know going in, you are going to be paying a slight premium because it's a "celebrity" owned place and all that jazz. Anyways, I just thought it was funny you posted this video and all I could think about is my friend going ape shit that while she just happened to be vacationing in Malaysia, Uncle Roger's restaurant opened up near where they were staying and she just had to Whatsapp video call me showing me the insane line and how busy it was lol :)

The only issue I see, aside from the bad service and price range is that they are waiting to get every dish finished before sending it out. I.e. the cold fried rice. If they brought everything out as it comes, it would, more than likely, be better. I know that it may irk some of the diners, but it would be more worth it to have some happy diners, instead of one person's food being room temp, and everyone else's steaming hot.
Usually most celebrity restaurants have this honeymoon phase where either it goes very well or meh lol. You should do another review after about 6-12 months of operation to see if they got better or worst or just stayed the same. Gordon's restaurants on the other side are something else as i'm pretty sure food inspectors come and go very often there and being such a big chef, the price range is a bit unfair to judge these 2 for sure.
Uncle Roger egg fried rice looked like it sat in a window for quite awhile before it was given. Its yolk was wrinkly on first showing. I’m sure it’s because they waited for the whole meal to be ready before handing it out. Hoping it improves with time and hype dying down.
Honestly in a country like Malaysia where is there plenty of delicious and affordable food, neither of these restaurants is a good option, unless of course you want to go for the "celebrity restaurant experience" which seems to be the main driving factor - particularly with Fuiyoh.
Honestly you were really nice abt your experience at uncle rogers which I respect. Bad customer isn’t ok even if the place is new 😢 We had a Korean restaurant chain open in florida us and the wait was long over an hour for appetizers preordered but the customer service was great plus they are local neighbors so we understand how hard they work. When we had questions they helped us and vise versa . I liked the drinks and didnt like my appetizers because they were more American in flavor than i would have liked (bland and small portions ) But the service was so nice i left a great review for anyone to at least try them! Anyhow God bless you i hope you are doing well!
I will offer this as defence… you did order a lot of food. It’s also a very new restaurant. Having said that a long wait like that is a bit crazy. Also Gordon is seasoned at running restaurants and it’s a very fancy hotel. Completely different experiences and different people with different levels of knowledge. Also Gordon has WAY more money to burn.
I would love some more comparison videos. Or some YTers will also do the various price points for the same food around a town and say what they thought was the best and what was the best value.
Uncle bro, I been binging your vids hard. I bet you'd have such a good time in my home country, Vietnam. I hope you'll visit one day and do a clip there! Much love, no homo.
At least Fuiyoh didn't give you room-temperature ice cream! So, Uncle Roger's Fuiyoh is like shopping online at Temu whereas Gordon Ramsay's restaurant is like shopping along Paris's Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré Street.
Fuiyoh is…overly ambitious which leads to the suffering of patrons. Understaffed and overfilled menu. An establishment like Uncle Soon Fried Rice’s wayyyyyy more famous and yet they churn out fried rice faster, why? Because they focus on ONE thing- fried rice as base and your choice of protein. Scale down the menu, get more hands on deck. The idea of waiting for more than an hour for fried rice sucks. Not to mention, by the way the rice arrives, you would have downed your cup of drink. Extremely poor planning as expected from an influencer-wannabe chef.
@@mochisharvey Overly ambitious and wrong market too. Sigh. Salmon…kimchi fried rice…take it out from the menu. And with next year’s tax on imported salmon, how much would this plate of Salmon Kimchi Fried Rice cost? RM75?
Great advice, you must also consider that the hype of the restaurant opening caused most of the delay since there are a lot of people, please do another review after the hype has died down a little.
If you do comparison videos you have to do similar types of restaurants. It is impossible to compare fine dining with casual dining. Fun video though. I would never wait that long for a restaurant especially a celebrity restaurant.

Another great video i am off to cook my dinner now you made me feel very hungry. Thank you for sharing
This was quite entertaining. Subbed =)
I think a more fair comparison would be Gordon's restaurant vs Gino D'Acampo's restaurant 😂 They're friends and rivals.
I have no idea who is Gino D'Acampo.
Italian chef
Please try the restaurants from Culinary Class Wars participants!!
Is that 10% service charge a mall restaurant thing? I'm surprised it happened there and not at the high end restaurant.
Jimmy: It tastes complicated.
Voice over Jimmy: It's a pretty simple soup.
Those are two mutually exclusive things bro!
My only favorite thing about mondays is that Jimmy posts on Mondays ❤
15:14 “just like anything else, you spread it open” 😂😅😂😂
He is trying to learn from Uncle Roger.
Honestly in a country like Malaysia where is there plenty of delicious and affordable food, neither of these restaurants is a good option, unless of course you want to go for the "celebrity restaurant experience" which seems to be the main driving factor - particularly with Fuiyoh.
Not everyone wants to eat street food or cheap restaurants or local food all the time.
You are good at this. It'd be awesome if you do more comparison videos.
"I think i can smell the streets of Rome" that got me choking bruh 😭😭😭😭
10:37 it's like Goldilocks and the 3 bears but you wanted hot fried rice and not warm fried rice
This is the first time I’ve seen Jimmy get kinda frustrated. The disappointment shown on his face when he ate the first fried rice was very obvious.
Understandable, he had to wait for 2 hours just to get his fried rice, and the frice is too expensive as well
Honestly you were really nice abt your experience at uncle rogers which I respect. Bad customer isn’t ok even if the place is new 😢
We had a Korean restaurant chain open in florida us and the wait was long over an hour for appetizers preordered but the customer service was great plus they are local neighbors so we understand how hard they work.
When we had questions they helped us and vise versa .
I liked the drinks and didnt like my appetizers because they were more American in flavor than i would have liked (bland and small portions )
But the service was so nice i left a great review for anyone to at least try them!
20 minutes for drinks, 30 minutes for appetizers and 60 for the fried rice??? Fuiyooh, he should be called nephew roger from now on
Uncle bro, I been binging your vids hard. I bet you'd have such a good time in my home country, Vietnam. I hope you'll visit one day and do a clip there! Much love, no homo.
I'll go to Vietnam for sure!
@@jimmykimtv Sweet!
As a fellow millennial who also complains about the price of everything, thank you for sampling this so I don't have to!
what watch are you wearing, isit a seamaster smp300?
"i think i can smell the streets of rome truly imperial quality" that funny 🤣
At least Fuiyoh didn't give you room-temperature ice cream!
So, Uncle Roger's Fuiyoh is like shopping online at Temu whereas Gordon Ramsay's restaurant is like shopping along Paris's Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré Street.
I used to live in Singapore. Great food can be purchased at the hawkers’ centers for just a few dollars.
Extremely poor planning as expected from an influencer-wannabe chef.
yeah scaling down the menu would actually help them a lot
Kimchi fried rice with salmon. I was right, it really is the West interpretation of Asian cuisine.
Really bad management and communication between front and back of house. Their POS system could be a problem too.

12:38 emotional damage 😆
cheeky but smart joke there about chicken enjoyed this video, keep up the good work!
The fact we get that water for free in italy(there are company that refill the bottles)
Unfair comparison, it's like luxury dining vs fast food 😂
OG Ramsay All Day
15:12 "spread it open, oil it up"
bro knows what he was doing there
For a full fledge restaurant, Gordon Ramsay's prices in KL is so much cheaper than his bistro in Spore!
I can't compare any foods cause all foods just taste really good(Home and restaurant).
probably cause i'm from street.
Cold fried rice, warm fried rice... hmmm sounds like the "The 3 Bears" story ... Next plate of friend rice be hot😅
Hey Jimmy I love your videos with the peaceful vibes and your sense of humour :DDD, you also inspired me to get back to training in the gym after a break from not going!! So my question is that Could you please go see the night market in Myoengdong area under the seoul tower! I know its very touristy but when i was there i had many tasty foods!! :))))
Myeongdong is not only touristy, but most vendors overcharge the tourists, so I'd rather not promote the place 😢 I'll go if and when the place starts selling reasonably priced items.
@@jimmykimtv Oh, I see what you are talking about! No wonder I felt a bit scammed for getting a stick of grilledlamb for 9000kw 😭 it was delicious tho 😂😭😭
@@jimmykimtv was my first time in korea tho so I didn't really know much about the markets, btw thanks so much for replying!! Today I've only been watching your videos and working out lol, I started the jungkook workout challenge on top of my usual gym program, feel so exausted but in a good way 😁👍
6:52 Good to know I would never go there....
There were way more reviews (with low ratings) of Uncle Roger's restaurant that somehow disappeared...interesting...
OMG, extreme ahjussi Jimmy came out with the "it's cold" 😂
I love Uncle Roger but yeah 2 hrs for a fried rice isnt worth it. I'd rather cook it at home in 20 mins and eat in 10 mins.
Jimmy & Uncle Roger should make a collab together!!
Come to Muar, Johor next time you're visiting Malaysia. We have great food here at a really affordable price too!
OMG Sunway Resourt it's been years since I've been there! Great to see it
Which currency that you are showing in the video?
Nah you're not a spoiled person, it's actually mad how long you waited completely ridiculous
