This sport is actually called Alpinschwinzig. It originated in the 1880s in Bavaria, and spread throughout Central Europe into Austria, Switzerland, Denmark, and other countries. Originally, it was a pastime of lumberjacks who would spin tiny wooden boats on strings around a small concentric circle, with the idea that whomever would spin the longest would be declared the winner. Unofficially, there was also copious amounts of beer consumed which would of course add to the difficulty of the event.

Dont know what it is, they holding. But it‘s a good advice to look at a fix point, when spinning. In paragliding we learned to look at the lines when spinning. Takes away a lot of the sickness coming from spinning.

@@JenniferChurchman they are guiding the planes. There is a certain range that the planes can be picked up by the lap counter, and they bring the planes down for safe landings. So spinning with the planes is necessary

You can't just casually dismiss spinny spinny racing. There's dozens of people into it now. Dozens.
Nah Mates, I've only ever competed at the lower levels of spinny spinny racing and they were a blast, except for those that had to fly with me. Big damn clumsy oaf! Did you notice, you didn't because you generally have to see it to know, in the pit stop the pitman fuels the plane before starting it. You can see the process of fueling at the very beginning before the start of the race. His hand has the fueling probe and battery hookup for the engine placed so that when he grabs the plane fuel goes in and the plug starts getting hot. My fastest planes were doing 4 second laps, a bugger with 3 people up. These guys are amazing at this pace BUT also easy to make fun of, it's like Frisbee golf. Damn boring to watch but quite entertaining when your high and competing.
I met a bloke who knows someone who said he works with the cousin of someone who's into it.

My first RC plane was a fixed line warbirds. Me and a mate would dance like this trying to cut off a 3ft long ribbon that was trailing behind our planes’ tail. Didn’t realize how weird we must’ve look until now. But then again, we were 12 years old.
Looks like something my dad and uncles would probably do after getting plastered at the family barbecue when I was a kid lol.

We need this ”spinning till you drop” element to every sport. In hockey both teams have a ’spinner’ and if they go out of bounds the team loses the puck. In F1 the pitstop crew needs to spin for the whole race.

I just imagine the "dirty" strategies that the casual viewer isn't aware of.

There is actually a trick not to get dizzy or spuke all over that is to fix your gaze on one thing lets say on the plane that is spinning and keep looking while spinning and u wont get dizzy...
