- In this video I will be testing the S-299 Mini Amp with 5.0 Subwoofer capabilities to see if it is any good and check the duel zone to make sure it works. So far I have been impressed.

I've got one. It's good for what you pay. It's definitely NOT a stereo amplifier despite having 4 speaker connections. All 4 speakers get the same mono signal, though there are 2 sets of them with independent volume controls. Still no way to do stereo. It even says it on the Amazon page "Hi-Fi sound BUT NOT STEREO". I don't think this guy understands what stereo means. Maybe he's only got one working ear 🤣🤣🤣

We're you running a powered sub? I have a similar unit from Pyle I use for my backyard oasis. Need to replace it and I've been looking for a unit. I had bought a separate speaker control box to do my zones. This would simplify the process and add a sub. Great review!
Yes for sure this is an awesome amp for a dual zone set up.
I have this but am only getting mono out of all 4 of the speakers. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
This one is a little tricky to hook up there are two zones so you want to make sure that you have your speakers plugged into the correct parts. I was able to get the stereo out of both of them and the subwoofer works off of one channel that supports both stereo channels. Hopefully this is helpful thank you so much for watching.

are there differences in left and right or is it a monaural 4 channel amp and subwoofer?
The sub is the same for each but you can change the two zones Left and right.
It does have FM radio, but it's very difficult to figure out how to get it working, I'm not that smart on this type of system, but I do have a Sherwood sterio and turn table and 800 watt speakers as I want to have a system like this to work on my Polaris Sportsman ATV and I can't get the FM radio to work. Any idea what I need to do to get it working?? 😮
Is this amp stereo? I bought one and I can't get stereo sound from it, it only seems to do mono.
I've had one for a few months and likewise only mono. I was hoping it may be faulty but from a few reviews I have read I am pretty sure it's how they are so I'm not sure why they are advertised as stereo...and as a bonus one of the channels is dead too
Yes this is a stereo amp, it is a bit tricky because there are two zones so you wanna make sure that you are connecting your speakers to the correct zones. Once you do that you should definitely get a stereo signal. Thank you so much for watching hopefully this is helpful.

do you only hear either Left or Right depending on the channel?
With mine I hear Left and Right through the same speaker regardless of the channel, it doesn't split them and as far as I can tell there's nothing different I can do to change it, identical setup with a different amp does though

I know I can hook up the speaker cable from the radio harness but how can I get the 12V power hooked up to the harness? Is there a connector or do I have to fabricate something?

I think this one would be your best option the S-299. you have the RCA, USB and SD card inputs as well as bluetooth connection. I like this one a lot because it has the two sides so you can have two different zones. This was one of my top three favorites out of all the ones I looked at and it sounds amazing. Hey couple things:
1. The remote does have an off button. Don't know how it works yet. When there is no input or the volume is to 0, these amps don't use any power at all, so it works just like pretty lights. NEVERTHELESS - Stu-pid not to have an off switch.
2. TOO - that's not a fuse - it's a Bluetooth transmitter - at least that's what it says on it.
They do not have a off switch. I have this one in my boat, and whenever we take the boat to the dock, we turn the battery power off. For me, it is a good indicator to show that the battery is actually turned off by looking at the amp to make sure the lights are off. The volume control is done on my phone and the tiles on the Empire more for left and right in front and back. Hopefully this is helpful..
@@hanzdidit Hey - just setting mine up and I rechecked and indeed the top left button bears a light symbol of open-close circuit. The double circle with partial vertical line. We'll see in a minute.
@@hanzdidit So mine may be a later production model than yours - I just got it Jan. 2024. But yes it has TWO off switches. The left bank volume turns off the input (LED) and BOTH amplifier channels - it's a rotary off, not a push. And for convenience from the couch when barely able to raise an arm - the remote turns the input LED off and on, but does nothing for the amplifiers. (The amplifiers do not use power without a signal - just the dial lights.) I'm just setting mine up so there may be additional details to be discovered. Cheerio - and new socks. 8)
How did you connect the subwoofer, did you connect the RCA straight to a sub or you went to an amplifier
The RCA to the Powered sub.
So it's mono then...shame you didn't manage to work out which speakers go where as you would have shown that if you had!
There are two stereo channels on this amp, if you do not hook your speakers up correctly they will come in mono. It has two channels so you have to make sure that you hook up your speakers correctly so that you can use one or both of the channels and they both are stereo. There's a fader that will adjust the volume between the two so if you have some speakers inside and some speakers outside you can adjust the volume on both but they are stereo. @@hanzdidit I decided to take a punt on this so ordered one since i already have a 2.1 Super bass with is fantastic for stereo. I wanted 4.1 stereo using wired speakers only. I tried every possible combination of wiring the speakers and I am telling you it was MONO. They have made a product that everyone would want if it worked, but it doesn't. I have now sent it back for a refund. No quibbles, no arguements, which I find odd in itself. If ANYONE gets this to work with 4.1 stereo, with seperate channels feeding to seperate speakers then I would love to see the speaker configuration. Thanks for the reviews BTW.

There are two types of subwoofers, you have a powered subwoofer where you would need to have a power source to the sub and you have a non-powered sub. Does it have delay in case you want to use both bluetooth and wired speakers?
Yes there are RCA inputs on the back if you do not want to use the Bluetooth. I believe that when you switch it on you can turn it to RCA or Bluetooth mode. Thank you so much for watching.
The subwoofer on mine won't work how did you connect yours ?
This amp requires that you have a powered sub, you connect it using the RCA to the amp and then the RCA input on your sub.

Yes but you need to make sure you get the speakers hooked up correctly there is a left and right and a fader between the two channels.

Can I use it with a 20V battery?Will it tolerate that much difference ?
Whatever the amp is in the voltage is will tell you if it will tolerate that voltage, most of these are 12 V or 24 V so hopefully that helps. Thank you so much for watching.

It is a bit funky the way that they have the inputs and outputs on this amp, it is really easy to mess up the wiring. You might double check and make sure that you are on one of the two channels and not on both. Hopefully this helps thanks for watching.

To be honest with you you can hook any speakers up to these that you want to. The only way you're gonna damage your speakers is if you turn it up all the way and it exceeds the wattage of the speaker. If you keep them turn down at a low volume when you're testing them you should not have any issues. Give it a try and see how it sounds. I think you'll be impressed. @@hanzdidit you're welcome, so its a 4 channel mini amp, I got the zk-1002T, it's 100x2 with bass, treble, and volume. I paid around 40 something for the power supply and the mini amp and it is very loud and clear.

I just bought this. I don't understand why all my speakers sound the same. Like it sounds like mono sound only. Does this support stereo sound? (Right side , and left side sound))) I have only two speakers in front of my face. I might have to return this......
This one is a little tricky to set up make sure that you have the left and the right set up on the correct channel. If you have the speaker set up so that they are on both of the left side you will only get the Laif channel. Hopefully this video was helpful thank you so much for watching.
@@hanzdidit I ended up returning to the seller. Really bad product. This model only supports 4.1 sound speakers. There is no support for 2.1 speakers. I was told on Amazon by the seller themselves.
