    Interesting video and a pretty good test. It looked like Corrosion X should have been #2 and Eezox #3 because Corrosion X held out longer than Eezox relative to the the accumulated rust. How did the plates look after they were wiped down?

      After he wiped it down he said he found deep etching on the corrosionX plate bad enough that he was thinking about making it 4th.
      If you watch the time lapse, most of the rust on eezox was dripped down from the top and side edge where there was probably little or no product applied. The CorrosionX failed right in the middle where the product was definitely applied.
      Then again, every test I've seen about rust preventers seems to have a different result.

    I have a log splitter that sits outside all the time. I live in N Idaho. The pump had a steel fitting on it that rusted right away when new. I used wd40 and wire brused the rust off as good as I could. I then sprayed it with EEzox. In 3 years outside that part has not rusted again with one treatment.
    I think if you do that test again you need to coat the front, side, edges, back etc. The whole plate needs to be covered. The eezox rusted at the untreated edges and ran across the plate. I would also lay the plates flat to see what is actually happening.

    Cool test it seemed like you really slathered on the guardian lp 2nd coat more than any of the others that might have skewed the test somewhat...

    how did the plates look after removing from the tank and wiping them down? Was the rust superficial or was there pitting? nonetheless great video. I would be happy with any other the top three as I doubt any of my firearms will be in such harsh conditions!

      Howdy Darren, I wiped the blanks down later and Guardian LP was almost completely clean with a tiny dot on it. Corrosion X had deep etching and the others had mild etching. I almost gave Corrosion X 4th but Froglube had widespread rust on it so it was really a tie for 4th.

    That is a great salt chamber. I am in the process of making one but I was just going to use an ultrasonic fogger. I like the blower idea. Do you have a parts list or maybe some photos of the parts and setup?

      Corrision X was designed for aviation not firearms originally, they do have a thicker version. Lubrikit Guardian LP has this video on their web page.I don't buy gun care products that manufactures unless legit 3rd part video and not videos of manufacture or employee videos testing their products versus others, these test can be faked or manipulated! Eexox why I stopped using it? It smells and if you put too much on it becomes tacky and you need to start over, does it work? Yes.

      Leo Guy I agree Leo. I used to use Eezox on my blued guns. It lasts a LONG time however I can’t stand the smell, the staining of clothing, the annoyance of it really. Just got CorrosionX and I’m gonna try that. Already I don’t like how “toxic” it is. Just bought some guardian LP so we’ll see how that goes but currently I’ve also been using both Weapon Shield for lubrication, and Rand CLP for cleaning and EDC

      I'm not sure that the proximity of the Eezox to the control was fair, especially considering that the 'winner' had distance between it and the control.

    I have used Guardian LP for many years. I just ordered more in August of 2022 but it never showed up. Do you know if Lubrikit is still in business?

    • @Paelorian
      @Paelorian ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They may have just closed down shop because Lubriplate, whose products Lubrikit repackaged, has just reentered the firearms market. Lubriplate stopped marketing small bottles to the firearms market in the 1970s, but they kept selling industrial-size amounts to industry. Gunsmiths and small companies would buy it for guns, and Lubrikit had a business repackaging it in small containers for people who didn't want to buy gallons. Anyway, Lubriplate now sells small bottles of lubricant on their website, both oil and grease, and perhaps other products will join the line soon.

    • @anthonywilliams5830
      @anthonywilliams5830 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Paelorian I figured the lubriplate thing out and bought there grease and oil. Problem is it's not the same as guardian lp. I can't figure out which lubriplate product is the same as guardian lp

    One issue is the % solvents in each. Your winner, which is quite waxy/thick, gets a far thicker effective coating than the Corrosion X, which scores high in other tests, and here looks much thinner. Based on that, it may actually be a superior product in normal use, especially when periodically used as both solvent/cleaner and lube. Of course effective lubricity is an entirely different sort of test, but most guns won't require super lubricants.

    • @gfclimber
      @gfclimber  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Appreciate the comment Z...
      Both Corrosion X and Guardian LP have solvents in them but it is easier to put a thick coating of Guardian LP on if you want to. Corrosion X seems waxier after it dries. I tried to even them both out on the blanks during the test.
      The one thing about Corrosion X (look at the time lapse) is that when it fails it fails badly. It seems like the salt gets up under the coating once there is an opening.
      I thought the streaks on the blank were just surface rust from the spots above, but when I wiped the blank after the test I found that these streaks were actually etched in the metal
      (Thought about giving it 4th for that).

      MyREDTAIL-ive got a tin and bottle applicator of eezox to do my shotgun O/U and rifles but im worried I will stuff it up some how.
      Do you wipe it down often with eezox after hunts or just wipe the guns down with a silicone cloth and do you clean inside the barrel with eezox after every hunt or can you use any gun cleaner like hoppes etc.
      I understand when you first apply it,you have to leave it until its dry.
      Thanks and your help would be much appreciated.

    • @gfclimber

      It looks like that but when I wiped them down those areas were actually etched in the metal. I think the salt water dripped from those spots and made a trail of salt that etched the metal as it concentrated along the trail.

    Terrible test, edges were not protected, so we dont know if the rust we see is coming from the edges, he should have at least wipe them down to inspect. I dont think this really tells us anything
