I love the woman being described in this song. Dangerous yet merciful. A woman who's been hurt and got over it, and became a lioness yet she sought no revenge. Could totally relate to that, when people wrong you and you're eventually in a position to cut them down to size but you hold no ill feelings or desire to hurt them. However unlike the guy in this song, most people wouldn't humble themselves and appreciate the mercy given to them.
Chris sang this song live in his concert and before he started playing, he said "this is for all the badass women here tonight" and really made my confidence fly for some reason! Thank you Daughtry for always making songs that resonate with everyone ❤

It's very rare to see a song about being humbled, and expressing reverence and remorse but in an honoring way. Most rare for me to find these days, indeed.
I hear songs about being humble or showing reverence if it's a gospel song or Christian song but otherwise it is rare for other singers to show this stuff in their own songs unless they can express who they truly are!!!!

Ahhhhh.....now THAT'S more like it. I hear me some Break the Spell and earlier Daughtry and that's by far the best Daughtry which has been sorely lacking since that record. Here's hoping this album is a return to that form

The lioness part reminded me of how I became strong after a huge part of my school district attacked me verbally with heavy levels of bullying. And the mercy part reminded me of my team from the mountains who cared about me when no one else did and they still care about me today.

Been a fan since 2006…met Daughtry in 2012 and seen them 3 times in concert. I feel like Chris Daughtrys voice has aged like fine wine. It just keeps getting better and better. Thank you for putting out new music for us. 🤘🏻❤️

Just watched his performances from American Idol, and losing that show was the best thing that could’ve happened for him. He made it on his own and that’s why I love his music so much. Dudes an absolute monster on stage
Is it weird that every time I listen to a new Daughtry song I get the feeling I've heard it before somewhere, years ago? It's not a bad thing though; kind of gives me a familiar, home-y vibe.
For me that's because whatever it is I know I'll be adding it to my Daughtry playlist of over 80 songs and it will be yet one more that I listen to all the time. I'm always in the mood for anything Chris Daughtry does.
I hope it is only the clarity of the lyrics presented, the come and go quickly and glitch for people who want it slower or in paragraph form. The dislikes are annoying, and the song and the lyrics are fantastic.
I know we all gotta pay for rent and food, but it hurt so much to think that we had lost Daughtrys voice to pop music. Hearing this makes me so happy - back on track and using his one-of-a-kind voice for what God made it for: to mtfckng ROCK! And in todays business, it's such a brave to do it, though. Hoping so much for him and for us that it will sell as many copies as it should! Great song!
My second comment, following 200 listens after the first, with each time I relate to every word. After immense friction and difficulties, after 7 years of marriage, my wife and I have worked through it all and are really really happy now. Her transformation to a lioness was indeed an important part of that which helped (forced? lol) me stay clear of shitty life decisions. I do not know how Daughtry managed to make an epic song about my life. Of course, he didn't, but the coincidence is uncanny. It is beyond beautiful. I guess it really is a small world. #lioness

They are really going back to the sounds of their self OG album back in 2006, with a bit of Break the Spell sound in World on Fire and Heavy is the Crown, although this song has a bit of Cage to Rattle feel in the beginning. But even so I am digging it.
Daughtry is always so amazing! I love how they stayed true to their roots and didn't veer off with their sound like some bands overtime do. Definitely the kindest band members I have ever met, so appreciative of the fans and really make an effort to connect with them!

Been a fan since "Idol" and I am so grateful for this band's music. How do they keep making banger after banger after 20 years?! I know when I hear Daughtry has new music that it is gonna be good. The lioness part reminded me of how I became strong after a huge part of my school district attacked me verbally with heavy levels of bullying. And the mercy part reminded me of my team from the mountains who cared about me when no one else did and they still care about me today.

Is it weird that every time I listen to a new Daughtry song I get the feeling I've heard it before somewhere, years ago? It's not a bad thing though; kind of gives me a familiar, home-y vibe.
Yes, its like his voice and music is always a familiar place, yet still fresh. It's his style and very few artists can do that.

For me that's because whatever it is I know I'll be adding it to my Daughtry playlist of over 80 songs and it will be yet one more that I listen to all the time. I'm always in the mood for anything Chris Daughtry does.
His heavier rock style and some of the vocal reminds me of parts of disturbed songs - which was around since the 90s. Could be part of it.
How can ANYONE dislike this song?
I hope it is only the clarity of the lyrics presented, the come and go quickly and glitch for people who want it slower or in paragraph form. The dislikes are annoying, and the song and the lyrics are fantastic.

My second comment, following 200 listens after the first, with each time I relate to every word. After immense friction and difficulties, after 7 years of marriage, my wife and I have worked through it all and are really really happy now. Her transformation to a lioness was indeed an important part of that which helped (forced? lol) me stay clear of shitty life decisions. I do not know how Daughtry managed to make an epic song about my life. Of course, he didn't, but the coincidence is uncanny. It is beyond beautiful. I guess it really is a small world. #lioness

They are really going back to the sounds of their self OG album back in 2006, with a bit of Break the Spell sound in World on Fire and Heavy is the Crown, although this song has a bit of Cage to Rattle feel in the beginning. But even so I am digging it.
