The original comics that began this series are absolutely worth a looking at. A lot of charm and love went into this series, long before it even began to get animated.
10:15 - Well, the scene is set in St. Lois, Missouri, 1927. The prohibition of alcohol across the State of Missouri persisted from 1919 to 1934, but bootlegging persisted, which explains why they are digging up a tagged grave.
The flashlight, shot of the bottle falling, the violin, the guns and all the cars, the inside of the Lackadaisy speakeasy are all 3D models. They just have really good texturing and are framed to move with the timing of the 2D objects around them, which is IMPRESSIVE.
I'm gonna drop some lore I learned! So, the Lackadaisy pilotwas originally made to gain the audience needed to convince people at Hollywood that it'd have a group to appeal to. Once it had gained some popularity, the crew tried to repitch it, and this time they were invested. However, to their shock, they were going to make them do another pilot with an entirely different studio. The issue is, that they already had formed a studio for the pilot and they already had a pilot. The people who were interested didn't actually know why they had to do so, but that was just part of the pipeline. This was a big reason to why the crew is so against to abandoning their workers along side the voice actors, as Hollywood was ready to throw away an entire staff of animators for no good reason.
I followed their work for ages watching Lackadaisy come together part by part, bit by bit, really amazing to see it come so far and hope it gets a full run
25:17 So... You often get in car wrecks that end up with your unhinged friend fending off mafia with dynamite sticks? Because if so, same! Finally someone I can relate to
18:10 Not only is it based on the American B.A.R., it's based on Clyde Barrow's (of Bonnie and Clyde fame) B.A.R. which was modified to have it's front sights removed, hence why she exclusively fires from the hip.
If watching this made you a furry, then generations of kids who grew up watching cartoons like Tom and Jerry, and the Looney Tunes would have grown up furry. 😏
Yeah....during Prohibition? They did all kinds of f'ed up stuff to make alcohol and a LOT of it was more toxic to the body than ACTUAL alcohol...that's why fruit juices and stuff were added often...to cover up the Godawful taste. I'm actually a big fan of this little animation and enjoy watching it a couple times cause of all the old cars and stuff. My maternal great grandpa was born a LONG time go..for reference his daughter, my grandmother, was born in 1941, my maternal grandfather was born in the late 1930s so they all grew up around the time period or just after it and through the 50s...a time many of them remembered fondly for it's style and the drive-in theaters and food joints...my great grandpa in every picture I've seen of him is a sharp dressed man....and my fat ass would love to look as good in a 3 piece suit as him the older I get...I'm near on 40 years old now but looking good in a suit with a pudgy belly like mine just...feels impossible. I'll likely never be as dapper as my great grandfather, right southern gentleman he was. Also I'd REALLY like to own a car like the one in this animation but they are kinda hard to come by and afford to keep running...I have ridden in a similar car though once...my poor friend who's 6 foot+ did NOT have an easy time squeezing into such a small car legroom wise compared to modern cars.
18:07 Let me really ruin your immersion; The Browning Automatic Rifle that it's based on, is chambered in .30-06, which will blow straight through all parts of these cars, unless its made with some 2 inches of tool steel.
what i ehard was they chose to leave the lineart visible to show this was made by human beings and not fucking AI (this was released JJUST as the AI thing was becoming a real issue)
The lines were left in for stylistic reasons, which the creators loved in older cartoons as you could SEE the work of the artists. Also, if you have the HD version of Lackadaisy the coloring of the characters has a "gauche?" texture, which TH-cam compression wasn't kind to.

1:18 "we are not furrys for watching this" we just happen to be furrys

Rocky is such a bard. His Charisma is absurdly high.

Nice to see a Brit reacting to this. Zib is played by Valentine Stokes, who is a Brit. And Viktor is Slovakian.

It always shocks me when a non-American REALLY knows their gun stuff, but in the best way. Feels like breaking a taboo or something.
ramshackle, lacadaisy are my vibes fr, i love those kind of settings, prohibition is so much interesting like remember scar face? don padre etc. etc.
3:30 Two-Kinds is still going on . . . I think
“I’m not a furry” yea right…..
16:32 Did you just called 2000 Disney "Early Disney"? Tarzan came out recently, not two decades ago, right guys? G-guys?
wrong it came out two decades ago. It had a live action remake that came out more recently, if your referring to that.
Thanks for reacting to this!
I like Makari's energy.
A couple of shorts have been released since this pilot. Fyi.
Wait, Twokinds are made by Markiplies Brother?.....Holy shit I didn't know that....
Yeah that was crazy for me to learn, too.
If watching this made you a furry, then generations of kids who grew up watching cartoons like Tom and Jerry, and the Looney Tunes would have grown up furry. 😏
Which is fairly accurate though the term furry wasn't used until the late 70's early 80's.

Oh i didn't know Makari knew a lot about guns
Victor is apparently a WW1 veteran, implied by a later short.
If that's so then, damn... That cat has seen some shit.
Two Kinds is still going strong
It looks a lot like Cats Can Dance.
"Cats Don't Dance" is the actual title, and it was a WB movie.
The choice to leave the sketch line in maybe influenced by the style of 101Dalmatians
The original version I presume, rather than the Glen Close versions.
18:07 Let me really ruin your immersion; The Browning Automatic Rifle that it's based on, is chambered in .30-06, which will blow straight through all parts of these cars, unless its made with some 2 inches of tool steel.
Makari: "I'm not a furry... But whole cast is my type"
At this point, may I know who isn't your type?
probably anything non feline
Me subsribed, you arę amazing, by giving interesting animation trivia.
Love IT :D
what i ehard was they chose to leave the lineart visible to show this was made by human beings and not fucking AI (this was released JJUST as the AI thing was becoming a real issue)
No no, the reason was just for stylistic purposes, like it was made in the 1900's
The lines were left in for stylistic reasons, which the creators loved in older cartoons as you could SEE the work of the artists.

@@ivebenwatching More like the 1950-1960s. 1920s animation would look very different.
America only has good Whiskey. Maybe rums.
But american beer is pure horsepiss
Make team neighborhood tf2
from what i know Victor is from czech, in that times i think its called czech republic but my history isnt very good
Slovakia 🇸🇰
He is from Austria-Hungary
The irony is that the grey cat was Irish, yet makari still thinks that’s the orange cat.
Both Rocky and Freckles are Irish,Their cousins
@@litepaw7 I thought rocky was adopted.
@@elijahhayter3026 Rocky’s parents couldn't take care of him anymore so his moved in with his Aunt and cousin
They're Irish-American. Raised by an Irish mother (Freckle)/aunt (Rocky), but born in the USA.
Does the audio really need to be cut out for these stupid Subscribe pop ups?
Check out Port By the Sea.
18:07☝️🤓
