Europe is not lazy. America is the mekka of melee so of course the attendence in na will be much higher because it is easier to quit your job and make a living in melee as a player or as a content creator when you're from na. If europe had profitable majors and a way to make a decent amount of cash from melee the scene would be much bigger.
Dude no one makes money of melee in the US either. It’s like 15 people. And most of them are constantly broke or have full time jobs.

Below the obvious top 10 characters, certainly.
And after that...I know Leffen claims Mewtwo is about as good as Dr Mario, but I just would like to see more results first; Leffen's results with Mewtwo are impressive, but not as impressive as all the Doc results. Below Samus, Luigi, Doc.
Probably in a similar tier to like...Gannondorf, DK, Mario, Roy. Characters that have isolated good results, in some cases like DK and Mewtwo and Gannondorf have advocates who think they are at or above the Dr Mario tier, but...I'll believe it when I see the tournament results. So...somewhere around 14th-18th.
I do think I would slide Mewtwo above Game&Watch, Link, and Young Link. Cody tried to have a G&W secondary, but unlike Leffen's Mewtwo or Zain's Roy, it didn't really get anywhere. Link...Aklo made some waves recently with Link as a Marth counterpick against like Kodorin, but then Kodorin studied the matchup a little, learned that Link doesn't have a walljump so you can just hold ledge against the hookshot, and smashed Aklo's Link. The brief era of Aklo counterpicking Link is probably over. Young Link...obviously has some history as a Puff counterpick, but...that was 10 years ago, I haven't seen a YL counterpick in almost 10 years.
