Otto must have been a body positive guy, judging by the size of that bathtub! Some fun scrambles that are not too spicy 🌶️ and lots of cool Moki steps. You’re really blessed to have this treasure in your backyard. Thanks for the tour! 😊
He was a giant! The contributions heade to the development of the area into National Monument status was impressive, especially for the time. Yup, very appreciative to have these opportunities so close to home, without the choking crowds and traffic on the 'othet side' Thanks man, Karl 👍
Often wondered how Otto climbed his "monument" so I went there years ago and did it myself . Surprise !! Did not know Otto DRILLED his way to the top ... oh boy ... and many of these 'stakes' are still there . Wow.
Amazing determination Otto had, this was done a long time ago also! We too often take for granted those pioneers that came before us, and the indigenous peoples who made these areas their home. Thank you for the post!! Karl 👍
Neat area
3:50 smooth form
7:00 most of the younger guys that I know are obsessed with overhangs, imperceivably small crimps, etc, but I always tell them "nature is mostly slab and crack" this showcases that
Awesome demonstration of scrambling with views all around. The monument is an undiscovered treasure. Thanks for sharing. Stop by and say hi when you’re passing through Montrose!😀😀😀😀😀👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks my friend! I'll try to be in touch before my next trip up your way. Love the Monument, it does surprise me sometimes that it isn't more utilized... Karl 👍
Awesome vid! Lived in the Grand Valley for 24 years and didn’t know about Otto’s bathtub! Thanks for the inspiration!
Thanks again! There's a surprising amount of pretty great mining adventures right around Grand Junction. All the best, Karl 👍👍
Just came on here to say that I love watching your videos! We moved from San Diego to Grand Junction a few months ago and have been doing as much hiking as we can as we learn the areas around us. Even though some of the scrambling you do may be above my comfort level. I love that you are showing us places that are a little more unique. Also wanted to compliment you on your editing, footage and music. Very well done!!
That is awesome! Appreciate your kind words, maybe we'll run into each other soon! Took a bike ride in the Monument this afternoon. Karl Decker 👍
Absolutely fantastic as always bro !!!! 🙂
Very big thanks my friend 🙏👍!!
Really entertaining, great job by Jason to capture a good amount of footage of YOU doing your thing in third person! Must have been nice not to have to scamper all over placing cameras LoL... thanks for sharing this cool 7 mile loop in the Monument!
Glad you enjoyed it! Jason is a great guy, mountain biker, obviously in very good, strong condition. Yes it was a super trip, going to be doing more together soon! Thanks again, Karl 👍
Rad video. Did Jason only carry one bottle of water?
Thanks man! I believe you're right on the water. Karl 👍
Really enjoy your videos. We’re avid hikers but can’t/won’t do the hard scrambling stuff. Thanks for sharing your adventures. I sent you a DM on IG with some questions on the Grand Junction area. Hope you received it.
Glad you like them! I'll keep my eyes open.
Nice video Karl. I was just camping here Thursday. Hot as balls.
Oh thanks man, didn't know you were coming this way, live a couple miles away! Karl 👍
