You've done a great job... the van is ready for another 40 years! Could I ask where you sourced your wheel spats from....I have an old van and mine are cracked and falling apart.
loving the videos guys, just a heads up though your stabilizer legs are actually supposed to run on an angle to stop the van from rocking and not straight down like you have them here.
Looks great, can I ask, why you went with a water based white and not oil based? And what brand is your spray gun? I have never been a fan of those type but it looks like you got that one too so a great job.
Thanks! We chose the water base because of the quicker drying times and in the perfect condition you could paint the whole van in one day. The gun was okay and got the job done it’s the yellow one for $100 from Bunnings
32:31 I’m wondering this also. I watched the entire video and thought it was great but wondering if there was a reason that front part wasn’t painted. Mine looks terrible and will be definitely getting painted when I do my van but is there a reason not to?
I just used a paint scraper and mineral turps, it took awhile and there’s probably easier ways to do it but I got there eventually. I think it was 180grit paper I use for a light sand before cleaning and painting
@@ShaunAddison no you don't have to, we just sanded the original paint then wiped it all down and primed the surface. That was the advice given to me by the white knight help line
That's quite the visual transformation from a tired old van to a well loved old van, nicely done guys
Thanks! It took a lot of effort but it was worth every bit of it
That was great seeing that all come together 😊
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you for watching
It's come up a treat. Great work. Funny how at the end of a job you know how to do it - should be the other way round
Thanks! We’re loving how it’s turned out. Hopefully this video works like that for someone
It’s coming up a treat 👍🏼
Thanks, we’re stoked with it
Nice work. Spraying gets into the folds, so its a good way to go with the corrugated aluminium panels.
Yeah so much easier, the part I did try with the roller left line’s because I was pushing it to get it to the folds.
That looks great!
Cheers! Yeah we’re so happy with the outcome
White Knight Epoxy! Did my front bumper on my Landy with it 10 years ago. Not even a stone chip on it yet!
Wow that’s good to know, hopefully I can say the same after 10years of narrow bush tracks
Great series! I’m currently doing a full rebuild renovation on a viscount so it’s very helpful!
Thanks you! It’s great to hear that the videos are helpful because they were a mission in itself let alone the Reno 😅 happy renovations
Hi guys. I watched this a while ago. Very informative. Great job. Just wondering what model spray gun you used? Many thanks

Thank you! It's doing well on the road thats for sure. We got them from vintage caravan spares

Thank you! And thanks for the tip ☺️
No they’re not. There’s two types of stabiliser legs. For low vans the angle ones are used. For higher vans the straight down legs are the go.
Love the paint job and the whole restoration project.
Just wondering why you didn't paint the front part of the van. Just above the drawbar
Thanks! We’ve been meaning to get a vinyl piece made up for that area but haven’t got around to it yet. In hindsight we should just painted it 😅
Looks awesome! Can I ask how much paint you guys went through?
Thanks why did you not paint the front of the van are you going to be checker plating it?
@@ProspectorShaun we planned on doing a vinyl padding but still haven’t gotten anyone to make it yet 😅 hopefully soon
What model Wagner did you use? Can you do a bit of a review on it?
It was the $100 one from Bunnings, it was okay did the job. I don’t have it with me now so can’t do a review sorry

What tools did you use to remove all the old mastic I brought a blue wheel because it was recommended but no way am I using it seems to aggressive??
Also what grit paper did you use I was thinking 125?

@@AsWeWanderso I don’t have to go back to bare aluminium looks like you went over the old paint?
@@ShaunAddison no you don't have to, we just sanded the original paint then wiped it all down and primed the surface. That was the advice given to me by the white knight help line
@@AsWeWander thankyou good to know I will do a light sand over every section with the orbital than prime etc
What air compressor did you use?
we used an electric spay gun for bunnings so no compressor. we did try my dads air compressor and gun but thought the electric was easier
