- Renovating old caravans can be challenging but so rewarding. Over the last few years I've been renovating an old pop top caravan from 19888 with the help of my mate Floydie. I'm at the other end of it now and have used the caravan many times and absolutely love how she's turned out.
Let us know what you think of it and if it's something that you are doing or would like to do. Thanks for watching!

Thanks Stacey! 🙌🏻😄

❤subscribed And thank u
Awesome thank you 🙏🏻 😄
Omg you guys are awesome this is a fantastic revamp. Can I hire you for my camper. I’ve just turned fifty and I have so many dreams for this little beast called Cassie. Just nervous as where to start
Thanks so much Michelle glad you liked it 🙌🏻 You’ll be right with it! It’s a good time and you’ll learn a lot as you go along 😄👌🏻
Evening. Just bought my first caravan and stumbled across your video. You know have a new subscriber. Was wondering what type of pint d8d you use 9n the interior.. I don’t want to remove the walls just paint over the existing walls. Man6 thanks from Tassie
Hey Simon that’s great to hear thanks mate! For the interior I just used regular interior acrylic house paint for the walls and an enamel for all the trim and cupboards. Has been perfect 👌🏻
@@TheBeatenTrak thanks for that. When you say acrylic you mean turpentine clean up.
Hey bro , what kind of Glue do you use ti for attaching the exterior wall to the wood?
I used sikaflex 😄
Curiosity, how much id spend to make a caravan like that? How much money did you spend? Thanks
Including the cost of the van and everything else I had calculated the cost at just over $10k
Wow AUD? That’s great mate!!! I thought you’d say 15-20k lol well done you guys did f good job!
What do you guys recommend to replace a roof with please.
Luckily I didn't have to replace the roof on mine, I've just repainted it. The roof is a timber frame with fiberglass skin and rebuilding it would be quite a project. Is your roof in poor condition?
Yes it needs to be recladded as timber around the top edge is warped and rotting.
So we have leak’s everything and it’s an advance koala pop top. 1986 model
Need some ideas on what to do
I guess the first set would be removing the roof and then having a good look at how you go rebuilding it. Unless you take the van to someone that could do the project for you. I found this link which would give you a little insight into what's involved: www.caravanrepairsandservice.com.au/jayco-roof-re-build/
Nice rebuilt. What material did you use on the outside of the trailer?
Hey thanks! The white section is an aluminium composite panel which is 3mm thick. The black section is 3mm aluminium chequer plate 😄
What’s a ballpark figure of the costs of this Reno?
Total cost was just over 10k.
Where are use located ??
On the Coffs Coast
Hey man looks sick! What did you use for the cladding?!
Thanks mate appreciated! Are you in the process of renovating a caravan yourself? The cladding is a composite panel from Ulrich aluminium. Here's a link to the product for you: www.ullrich.com.au/products/category/aluminium-composite-panel/
@@TheBeatenTrak thanks heaps man, have you got a link for both checker plate and the Perspex type stuff? I’m tossing up whether to renovate one or buy a ready made one, have 4 kids and a wife so thinking might do a reno to suit my needs, your video has given me some massive inspo to get it done!
@@TheBeatenTrak also this joiners you got also please actually just everything you used for the outside 😆
That's awesome mate! Definitely a lot of fun and quite rewarding but it can be difficult to find the time especially with family life and kids around to get the project done. Mine took me a fair while to complete.
You can get everything you need for the external including the chequerplate, joiner strips and trims from Ulrich. If you have an Ulrich locally i'd suggest calling in and having a chat to them and get some samples.
If you check out this video here I actually talk through all the exterior components which will help you out a lot: th-cam.com/video/GiT4IAy-5K0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=R2Igj1XWvrXwq7MV
