Little interesting fact about this scene that people tend to miss: Young Lady Mormont is named for Jon's mother. So it's no surprise that little Lyanna would be the one to stand up for Jon.

If Ned shared that information with Cat, no matter how much he trusted her, it would make her a liability, putting herself and Jon in more potential of danger. Ned as only just becoming comfortable with the idea of telling Jon himself. It's why a secret identity superhero wouldn't even want their own loved ones to know their secret.
