    Why don’t you show installing a cable. I had to take the inside plywood from mine to get to the screw to pull cable around and put tension on it to clamp it.

      When I did mine, I pulled the lift tower right out of the wall, replaced the cable, and then re installed it.

    We purchased a project 2003 Fleetwood Bayside. The person that had it could not get the top down so he cut the cables. So we have two problems. One...what caused the top to not come down and two...where do we find out the proper length of the needed replacement? Thank you!

    I've a 2009 Coleman E3 and broke the roadside rear cable this weekend. I'm pretty handy so figure I can do this myself. Any recommendations on getting it up first to remove the lift assembly? I was simply planning to use a few guys to get it up and some 2x4s for supports. Cable broke at the wheel after it must have jumped the wheel. I assume everything has to be in the upright position to replace?

      You are correct Dean! The affected lift arm will need to be removed. You can find the written instructions on our website under the REPAIRS link if you have not yet. Please take a look at the conventional lift system repair manual. If you need more help please let me know!

    Great video. Thx. What crimp/swage tool do you recommend? Do you send the kits with stainless crimps or aluminum. I neeD to know what tool to purchase :)

      I have a national technology 700L swag tool. It’s an old one, but still works great. The crimps are OEM, direct from the cable manufacturer.

    I am hoping you can help us. We have a Coleman pop up with the bolt cables. One of the bolt cables snapped. The cable separated from the bolt. Therefor the top would lift so we can not get to the arms. Any ideas on how to fix it? Thank you in advance.

      @@popupcamperpro We have one cable that is broken right at the bolt. It broke where the bolt and cable meet. Do you know of any other way to repair it that doesn't require taking out the old cable? The other 3 arms work and we have an automatic lift. Afraid to take it all apart.

      Was it a coleman? If so watch our video How coleman lift system work. It shows the cable routing for you. We have more instructions at colemanpopupparts.com as well. A VIN decoder is found at the links if the transformation has lost the original manufacturer. A VIN plate can be commonly found on the frame or registration. I hope this is helpful!

    Derek thanks, I'm replacing a forward street/door side Lift Cable. I'm trying to pre-cut the forward cable base on the diagram. I know I'm going to select the wrong size. I have a 2001 Coleman Sedona. You make it seen easy. Just in case I make a mistake. Look for another order from me for a Forward Lift cable. LOL .

      @@popupcamperpro Thanks Derek for the quick reply. Well I removed the lift arm -I see the screw and attached the end cable with crimp first as instructed. How do I get the bolt end cable thru the Pulley separator block? Do I have to remove the pulley first next to the whiffletree? I'm assuming the bolt end cable will not fix thru the bottom pulley. Thanks for your assistance!

    We bought our well-maintained Coleman 2002 pop up from a private seller in Oct 2020. It had not been camped in for over 2 yrs. So, to be safe we are having the lift cables/system inspected, the bearings service done AND the LPG inspection service done at $430 (including the Good Sam discount) But, the cost and long wait times for service makes me think we need to plan to do this annual maintenance ourselves in the future. Is it safe to do this ourselves if we are mechanically inclined or do we need to leave it to the professionals?

    • @popupcamperpro
      @popupcamperpro  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can do it! For the Lp system an RVIA certified tech will use a nanometer for an LP drop test. This checks for 11 WC of pressure from the regulator mostly. You can replace your regulator every 5 to 10 years, and use leak check liquid at the fittings for DIY LP maintenance. I hope this is helpful!
