I suspect the issue is inside the box just beyond the crank assembly tube. Do you have a video that shows how to take apart the inside and replace? I have the model with the two open side bearing cup.

Thanks for the video, Derek! We replaced our drive hub extension and we are back in business! We lost ours on our way home from camp. Quick question, how do you know when to stop unwinding when you are lowering the popup? If you go too far, does that loosen the drive hub?

    • @popupcamperpro

It should not be necessary to remove the rear panel to change the drive tube on any model. Doing so does give you a bit more access, and lets you inspect the overall condition of the crank and chain.

Not on every system. On your E3 you should be able to undo the pins at the whiffle tree coupler, and unbolt the crank assembly without removing the drive hub tube. It's never a bad idea to disassemble the drive hub tube and check the overall condition of the parts as well.

I have a new drive hub extension on its way for my 2000 Sedona. If this doesn't get my pop up to lower what would be the next area you would recommend focusing on? I have greased the whiffle tree and cables. When I went to inspect the whiffle tree the plate was off and the cables were spun once around the whiffle tree.I fixed that as best as I could - hoping there wasn't permanent damage from the plate being loose. You could also use a scissors jack to support the old hub to remove the crank pin. Aside from that, you really need to be careful drilling a new pin holes for the crank. It has to be at the center line of the extension diameter. Otherwise, your crank will not engage on the pin. I'm just wondering why they didn't drill that hole during manufacturing.
