    Editor's Note from 2023: I've never driven a V6 Sonata, so none of this video applies to that version. If I get to drive one, I'll surely make a video on it, bc it sounds pretty nice.
    Man I miss this car. I do still agree with everything in this video, but that thing had a lot of memories. I don't know where it is now, but I wish I could have fixed it again. Rest in peace little Hyundai, you taught me everything about this hobby that now takes up my entire life.
    Update (from 2021): I still have it, but now it's idling way lower than i remember, and only the drivers side can still roll down. I don't know why.

    I have a 2009 Hyundai Sonata Limited V6, and I absolutely love the car! Fast asf, paint is immaculate, not a single scratch, peel, or fade, and I get around 23mpg overall. If you’re gonna get an NF, get the V6.

    • @turbo_co27
      @turbo_co27  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The V6 is indeed pretty damn good. That's a solid 75hp more than the base I had, that sounds like a lot of fun lol.

      23!?! I have the same car 3.3l v6 limited and the car says I average 15mpg (which may be wrong)

      @@rohm1269 depends on how you drive. If you drive conservatively, you can get around 20-23mpg combined. Me, I drive a little crazy. And I average around 13mpg 😂😂😂

      Man honestly idk how, i averaged like 18mpg combined in my 4cyl💀i’d drive it around my town as efficiently as i could and it didnt make a damn difference😭

    I own a 2009 Sonata..bought it in 2010 with 43,000 miles..it now has 215,000 miles still driving it..... and the reason your car is crap because you even admitted it you do not know what you are doing....none

      Glad that you had a good experience. I, however, could not completely fill the gas tank because it would overflow and destroy the EVAP canister.

    My 06 Sonata GLS 3.3 v6 gets 26 - 28 mpg highway miles, 21 mpg average. 238k miles, runs great, love it. And yes, it's fast.

      My 09 NF 2.4 is a workhorse....Bought it new ...120,000 miles now...Only maintenance : Change both rear calipers due to faulty dust seals. A DIY self job..easy, $200 total. Obviously mr or miss Storethis should have replace the belt tensionner before it broke. This is a regular maintenance item on any car. Best car I ever had...I am 74. My 09 longevity might beat me Lol.

    • @turbo_co27
      @turbo_co27  ปีที่แล้ว

       @denis st-cyr with all due respect, i didnt replace it bc there were no symptoms or signs that it was going bad. One second everything was fine, and then suddenly I was on the side of the road with a shredded belt, no tensioner, and a bunch of coolant everywhere🤷‍♂No belt squealing, no noise, just fine until it wasn't anymore. Who knows, maybe it wasn't the tensioner. I don't have the car anymore so I can't say I know for sure lol but it was definitely torn off.

    I got a 2009 gls got it last year 80k miles I have 139k at the moment I have a hps air intake muffler delete res delete coming soon last winter I had no issues in 4 inch snow stock wheels the car runs good on on 18s it’s not the fastest but with those small modifications a Toyota Camry or a Honda accord can’t beat it I guess it’s about maintenance I put about 800$ to the car 1600 including the new wheels I have on it reliability is great I drove to Washington DC a couple months ago and back and I still had gas for 2 more days I like the body style of my sonata I don’t like the engine or the slowness but I know in the future I’ll keep it and make it some sort of vip build they’re underrated especially the v6 I might engine swap it with a v6 not sure yet

      That’s pretty good to have all in on a car that runs well. Maintenance definitely helps! Couldn’t save my water pump from blowing up tho, sadly.

    Gotta admit I’ve never seen this gen Sonata with so many problems. I think u just have a lemon. The 2011 had real problems but I believe this one is more reliable.

      I guess u have a very bad reputation about this car, worst and bad video. this model is super reliable and the fuel efficient is super top notch

  •  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Dude... really think you had bad luck, or been too hard on that car. That particular Sonata generation is GREAT and very reliable. Can face any Camry or Accord from the same age.

    • @turbo_co27

      Must have been bad luck I guess, because I was pretty easy on it tbf. But idk, I couldn’t fill the gas tank bc it would damage the EVAP canister, and then I sold it at 123k miles after the water pump died.
      But I’ve had worse at this point lol.

    I have a Hyundai 2008 it has 205k miles runs great has had work to it new shocks new tires new brakes and belts runs good main thing is I think the clutch is going out the clutch pedal has low pressure you think it’s worth paying alor of money to fix the clutch ? Yoy think the motor is most likely towards the end of its life ?

    • @turbo_co27
      @turbo_co27  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Has the grab point of the clutch risen towards the top? Does the clip slip in fifth/other gears?
      if the body is in good shape (not too much rust) and the motor has good compression i could see a new clutch being worth it, especially if you can do it for not too much money.

    • @troyholland3436
      @troyholland3436 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@turbo_co27 well the car shifts gears well so I’m thinking the clutch might be fine also I usually shift gears around 3500-4k rpms to wait for the car to rev up a bit is that okay? I used to shift a bit early what’s better in ur opinion?

    • @turbo_co27
      @turbo_co27  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@troyholland3436 I usually shift at like 2k-ish rpm personally, but I'm sure it's fine. But a shot clutch will shift okay and accelerate poorly. You'll know it's dead when you put your foot to the floor and the RPM's sharply rise and the car doesn't go any faster.

    I have that car in a V6.Stupid random shit breaks.
    - Door handles broke off
    - Hood latch wouldn't open( wire snapped)
    - Brake sensor broke( had to replace)
    - Speed sensor got fried( disabling ESC and ABS)
    I dunno, it's still ok.Im just saving to get a Honda or Toyota.The only cool thing about this gen Sonata is that if you remove or change the front grille, it makes the car look like an Audi due to the overall body shape.

      @turbo_co27  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1
