I have my 2.4 GLS 2010 Sonata for almost 14 years now. 318k KMS later and it still makes me smile. Still runs like a dream with a design that is not out of place in 2024. Aside from a radiator and clock spring change out, everything else is still as built. One of the best buys I ever made!

It’s good until when the engine seizes up on you with no warnings and locks the steering wheel while your going 80mph on the interstate

We have a fully loaded 2012 Hyundai Sonata Limited with the 274hp 2.0L turbo & I love it, it's such a sleeper.

I remember I was awestruck when I first saw this car. I knew automotive design would never be the same and hat the Korean auto industry was here to stay!
Then the Kia Optima totally surprised me.
I remember back then people would say it's like the Mercedes-Benz CLS, but a lot cheaper. It was that good looking.
I still think the 7th Gen is classic looking. It took this design and grew a little bit.
It looks the same but kind of grown up.
I own a 2017 so I'm partial lol.
My blue 2011 would run the 5 freeway in SoCal throughout high school many good memories in my sonata

I should of kept my 2010 Silver Hyundai Sonata. That car was state of the art and I had absolutely no problems with that car whatsoever. Plus the acceleration was awesome.

Great review Sir. Good to see a 10 year old Hyundai still running smooth. Just wish they still had port injection engines as these new GDI engines are not that reliable with all the carbon build up on the valves. I own a 2019 Sonata Limited 2.0T and love it. I hope it last me at least 20 years. Great channel by the way. I lived in South Korea for 2 years and loved it and I sure do miss it.

Just meth inject it and it’ll be good. Barely a 30 k car when it was brand new. Well worth putting the meth injection in, even if stock as these cars love high revs.

I got my Mom one in June 2010. When I saw the front end of it from road going by dealership, I thought, WOW that front end is radical. I noticed Many cars copy many aspects of styling cues from just this car after it came out. Still one of the best looking cars on the road. No issues with car, Can't stand daytime dash lighting for her during day though.

This car is selling for US$6K or more in Malaysia now, really a steal. Thks for your review. Yes, you are right, the car doesn't age so much for its age, I was stunned with its design, I guess it still looks better than its younger brother in year 2015.

My 2012 2.0T Sonata (274HP Stock) is a completely different animal. 155mph top speed! I did not know they make a 160hp version. Great review though. Earned a new sub.

I'm living in Korea and I own a 2011 sonata. The consumption is high on the city and the steady on highway, seems the steering is too much sensitive, difficult keep straight. I thought was problems of my unit but you showme that is not. Love design. 감사합니다!

About this car I want to tell that I had 2011 and also 2013 for 2 and 4½ years respectively. BOTH were leased and I did not have any complaint with these 2 cars. That modelo started the Hyundai 'S Fluidic Sculpture that made the biggest "turn-heads" when it was on the streets. After that ALL automakers started to design cars that copied the beautiful silouhete of 2010 Sonata. I actually lease a 2018 and I plan to change this Year to the beautiful 2020.

In my country, this YF is the most popular Sonata even compare with newer LF. Same thing happen to MD Elantra compare with AD. YF Sonata lanched in my country in 2010 and just take me a few weeks to see the car in the road. While for LF, it took me 2 or 3 years. Haha! I think Fluidic Sculpture design back then really make Hyundai cars look elegance even after 10 years now.

I bought a 2011 Sonata in April of 2010 (the YF model launched too late in the year in USA for the marketing department to call it a 2010... So they launched it as a 2011 very early in the year). Hard to believe it's been 10 years now almost.
It was an excellent car, not a single problem, but I eventually traded it for a Santa Fe. I still miss it.

Nice idea Charlie, reviews like this may rise subscriber numbers ! I drive a 2007 Kia Opirus myself and realise through repairs how expensive spare parts are outside South Korea. I can only guess that if H / K continue releasing a new model every year or so, the spare part situation for not so older models will increasingly become difficult.... e.g. spare part prices for Genesis models are absolutely crazy

I had a 2011 YF Turbo. I think those are still the quickest Sonata made. I traded it for a 2015 Genesis 5.0L AWD... lol... The Sonata was good but it was my first FWD car and it felt weird to me.

The first time this came out, all the other mid-sized SUVs out there just looked plain and boring in comparison. This Sonata is a bit flashy, but I like it. The design has aged very well. Honestly, I think it looks better than the newer Sonata models. One of my neighbors has a well maintained Sonata with the 19" wheels from the Genesis Coupe. It's a looker.

These cars are the best bang for your buck. You can get these Hyundais in the US for under 6000 in decent condition and clean title. If you want a Honda, you're only looking at the much older 2007 Accord. Go with this Hyundai if you want a used car.
I'd personally go for an older used Lexus at the same price point.

Interesting. This 2010 Korean Sonata has the same engine as the 2010 US Sonata, however it has the body/chassis of the 2011US Sonata.

I’m actually in market got used car. I wonder how 5-7 yr old azera or cadenza are handling as far as maintenance cost. If you would share what parts broke down during 9-10 yrs of usage, it will help used car shoppers
That's great question, my wife doesn't drive much. But My Veracruz had many miles on it. You have to change your battery. And your radiator hoses and the radiator itself would leak, so you have to change that as well. Do adjust your timing belt and change them as well. But others you really have to pay attention as you go along.

great review and idea ...this is the most favorite generation of Hyundai sonata here in Jordan .. still hybrid version of this generation suffers too many problems with transmission , charging system and ABS .. Sadly

I noticed there is hydraulic steering on this car and no GDI high pressure fuel rail and we got in the USA 2.4 l its 200 HP not 2.0 only in 2.0T here in the US this the same setup as a 2006 2010 Hyundai Sonata in the USA that still all over going.

Wow, the Sonata is still a baby, only driven less than 60,000kms after ten years! How much would your Sonata be worth right now on the used car market in Korea? I'm wonder if Korean cars in Korea depreciate at the same rate as Korean cars in Canada/America? It seems to me that Korean cars in Canada lose value faster than most Japanese branded cars but not as fast as American or German cars.
