    Alright Larry... when are you going to come back East and get an arm workout in this thing? You have from now until then to prep mentally and physically to embrace the Golden Era 😁

      @@fcpeuro oh I’ve watched the series a time or two now no doubt haha, one of my favorites! Not many people that break this process down or are able to pull off doing it properly like how you guys have

    As a fellow mercedes racer, what you said in the beginning about there not being any information on how to build these things is painfully true. But thats also part of the fun, and makes every build unique. Cool car!

    The documentation on this build was so inspiring. I am stealing a bunch of their problem solving with the steering setup on my R129. I feel it when Nate mentions that nobody is modifying older Mercs in the states. I find that to be 100% accurate. Perhaps his conclusion is correct because they didn't send manual transmissions or LSD in the rear here in the States.

    Basically we’re talking about my childhood, my heroes and my affection about EVO II‘s and the E30 M3‘s. Great times.
    Btw, a great source of knowledge is Jean Pierre Zimmer ( Motoren Zimmer ) in Germany . He not only is an expert servicing and repairing AMG‘s but he’s also racing his own EVO II in the DTM classic series in Germany . He also has a YT channel . Look him up

    Rad build. Would be cool to see some in-car footage of it going through the gears. That said, the pure intake honk of the original Cossie-powered ones cannot be beat.

    Blows a Mind away when thinking about just how cool it was to be working in the Racing Factory teams back then. It was All Adrenaline and all of the time!
    The Boosted cars were MASSIVE lag factories that would END YOU if you did not time the Apex right.
    And as much as I like the new Metal & carbon Fiber? The old steel & fiberglass sure hits the spot every time.

    Thank you so much for building this!!!!! Although mine us built on the heavy side i could not resist the power of the 606 diesel. I feel as though before im done 2 of the six cylinders will be in the cockpit to gwt the weight transfefed. I wanted a k series under the hood bad but i had to keep it german. Old german tech that is.

    The first mark / Evo 1 version of the 190 Cosworth is pretty readily available for 15K-25K. Nearly identical to the Evo 2 except with the body kit we all know and love as in the video. I get it if they were trying to build it a different way, but it’s weird that he didn’t even mention the mark 1 Cossie you could just add the Evo2/DTM body kit to. Pretty common build. Also seems weird for a 190 Cossie to not have a dog leg manual.

    • @dizzinessman7910
      @dizzinessman7910 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're thinking about the regular 2.3 16v and 2.5 16v Cosworth not the evo 1, evo 1 and evo 2 are limited production car. Only 502 of each were ever made, and they both run over 6 figures.

    • @BillThePleaser
      @BillThePleaser ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dizzinessman7910 My mistake. You are correct. Regardless, still a lot closer to anything resembling a DTM car than this for pretty much the same reasons.

      No they ran 18s on the evo 1 and 2. The homologation cars had 17s iirc. Dtm allowed you to run 2" larger diameter than factory size.

    Those DTM engines revved to 12 000rpm or more and had around 500-520 horsepower from 2.5 liter naturally aspirated engines. They were as advanced as Formula 1 engines with pneumatic valvetrain, 3 injectors per cylinder et cetera, that in a sub 1000kg total weight. Sorry boy but it really is not the same, looks great surely, but performance has nothing same. A real DTM car would be long gone in timeframe of 2 corners.

    • @zachogdahl210
      @zachogdahl210 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your a bit off the mark. The s14 and the 2.5 16v were never that advanced. Both engines had a redline of 9500, had standard valvesprings and only had two injectors per cylinder. (One in the stock ports and one spraying into the trumpet) The cosworth engine had vvt as well though which was very cool at the time. They made about 360 hp.
      They arent super fast by todays standards and with modern tech you could easily build a comparable car. i feel like fcp did an excellent job with this car i just would have personally picked a different engine.
