A way to get Geodes more quickly / to supplement your Geodes income is through farming Cactus nodes, they give you Piles of Silky Sand and you have a pretty high chance of getting Geodes when using them. Also Cactus nodes are found in other places than Dry Top too.
Setting goals is really important for me as well. Over the weekend I unlocked my first mount and disovered what you can do in the current festival. I now have three of those imbued holographic weapons on my wishlist. I do Tequatl daily as there often are mentors/commanders to help newer players and it is 2G alone for the 15 minutes. I also had ascended weapons as loot from him twice over the past two or three weeks. I do daily crafting and selling and currently I am unlocking my first chair, to use while waiting for the old Tequatl every day. :D A lot of my goals are aesthetic-based, so saving/making a lot of gold is necessary. Longterm I'd like to craft the Flamespeaker Prophecy, because I am a bookish person and the shield has a book on it. :D My GW2 App tells me I am 8,8% of the way there, that is not to bad for only playing for six weeks. It shows me my different currencies, what I am trading, event timers, crafting progress and much more and is really usefull if I want to check in between if my stuff that I crafted has sold. :D

I remember sunrise was my first legendary, and that I had so much difficulty to craft it. I thought it was impossible but I eventually crafted it and promised myself I would never make another one. Now almost all my gear is legendary lol!
as an extra reminder about Legendary crafting, if you don't hate seasonal festivals do them with some regularity and you can exchange their currency weekly for premium items like Legendary Shards (required for any of the last 12 leg. weapons released), currency converter (dungeon, map, etc.) and Mystic Coins.
what I've found is, doing only W1 on normal for daily Crimson tokens (and sometimes 201), plus glitches and hidden chests, will net you over one week just about the same in Bauble Bubbles you need to buy ALL of the weekly shinies minus the Transmutation Charges (which are a rip-off, lol)... so, that's 15-20 minutes per day ;)
Here is a good example: daily reset happens at the same time as Tequalt the Sunless, he drops a lot of stuffs, sometimes even ascended gear and precursor. Right after that Timberline Fall will have Anomaly event that gives a mystic coin. Then after that Tangled Depth’s meta is up, followed closely by Auric Basin. That is one hour of gameplay that will net a lot of loot. After that do what you want. I usually do fractals if the daily that day are easy. Then the rest of the day is farming nodes or meta depending on my mood and what goal I currently set on.

I'm very thankful for this video - I find myself always to be rather "inefficient" when it comes to routines (although to be fair, I'm always enjoying myself and that's also important xD), and my playtime in general. Lately I have been finishing a lot of goals I had been working on for way too long in Guild Wars 2, which I am really happy about:)! This video will definitely help me getting more value out of my time in Tyria which is extremely nice! I really liked this video:) (also once again, your Asura close-ups are just amazing haha)! More recently I've been working on unlocking more T2 fractals, but my main goal in GW2 as of now is getting a full ascended gear set of Viper gear! I have been running my trusty human soulbeast for so long know with power variations but I really wanna give condition based soulbeast a proper try! (could be useful to get into raiding:D) So my plan was doing more T2 daily fractals (also working on crafting ascended armor pieces with viper stats) and maybe Bjora Marches + Volatile magic gathering for the trinkets. As my living world episodes only go back to lw s4 ep4, I can't use the maps from previous seasons/episodes which apparently are the easiest way of getting the trinkets - but Bjora marches, volatile magic from dragonfall etc. and pristine relics from fractals seem to be a viable, not painstaking long way to achieve my goal as well:)! Another goal is getting enough gold for Guild Hall upgrades haha! What do you think, should I do anything different:)? (In the longterm getting Harrier trinkets for Druid as well maybe) Keep up the great work man, you are doing an incredible job!:)

My daily routine is home instance, guild hall, 1 round ranked PvP (2gold daily), infusion train (piniata,chack,tarir,death shatterer), daily crafting, parked characters and maybe fractals If i have more time ^^

Wanted to say exactly same thing. Everytime I started having daily GW2 routine, I was close to the huge break (like half a year or more). Having normal job is repeatable enough, I don't want to do the same thing in my free time. And this comes from a player that has crafted a legendary weapon. Now I only do daily, crystal quartz farming and flax gathering from farm spots with one character. And I'm already afraid that it will make me bored soon. But I stopped going hard on myself for not doing something or skipping days, so maybe it won't be that bad.

Stay strong people, Anet will fix this and hopefully there will be a full restore and not a compensation of repair canister and revive orb (cough cough).
I played from beta through living world season one then took a break, and recently came back. I’m currently playing through all the xpac story and living world episodes with a friend. My goal right now is to obtain a full ascended set for my main. So right now my daily routine is so at least my 3 daily quests for the 2g, then we play through story for a bit, while gathering every ore and lumber node I come across. At the end of the day, I do my daily crafts (have 500 crafting skill already thankfully), doing some additional gathering if I’m low on mats, and work towards my ascended pieces. Once that’s complete, I’m not sure what my next goal will be! Maybe a legendary?
I recommend getting mastery points as you go. The use of the pact supply network agents requires wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Supply_Line_Management and autoloot requires wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Advanced_Logistics With the latter, items like boss chests don't require opening - you just need to be within a close-ish distance for the boss chest items to go into your inventory. If you lack mastery points, you may wish to prioritise the collection of these as part of your daily routine. There are some legendaries that do not have a precursor, for example wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Nevermore These require you to do crafting/alternatively purchase off the TP, and events, such as specific fractals. Get some mastery points in HOT This usually takes me 6-7 hours to complete. I have been playing for 1.5 months now

I'm a new ish casual player and I'm working on finishing the whole map. Currently at 61% I haven't touched crafting at all because I'm having a hard time getting into it. I've saved materials just in case but it all seem rather overwhelming and I have no idea how to get started with a goal in mind.
Does it means that we have to create a new character each week and delete it after reaching lvl10 and getting the black lion chest? But if it was the case why waiting a whole week for it? Or perhaps even an old character can repeat that quest? In that case why mentioning 'new character' and 'personal story (a main quest?)' I just started few days ago, and I'm currently looking left and right for guides and tips.
You can get 30 Geodes (if I'm not mistaken!) from Map completion at Dry Top. If you have multiple characters it's a good way to get them fast ^^ ofc, it only works once :P
So my story with GW2. I bought both expansions when the latest one released. Never got to lvl 35. I created a new character, necromancer. Hoping I can get to end game. I hate playing alone.
When asking in Lions Arch, just plainly say you’re a newbie. That way you get only into a guild that appreciates that, rather than finding yourself in a guild where they don’t see that as a positive. Some love it, some don’t, so just tell them and they’ll self qualify
@Kyosika I think it is either young and or spoiled gamer's or a.d.d types that can not have fun in a game for years that offers so much. There are pvp dailies, pve dailies, fractal dailies, strike mission dailies, and world bosses. Let alone guild missions, playing with friends, guild mates, personal story, living world story, and working towards ascended gear and weapons, let alone map completion and meta stuff. Just boggles my mind when ppl complain but hey to each their own. Games like any art are destined to be loved by some and disliked by others. Hopefully the "Im bored" types can find a game more to their play styles as we all play to have fun, and see new things and meet new peoples. Another fun video Kyosika :). I just grind out levels. Do missions if i have some and map completion. Going for lvl 80, already got the dlc but didnt know you can only play after lvl 80 and i am saving the free lvl 80. New dlc hype, i should have decent stuff by the time the new stuff arrives. 65 to 73 today, big.
03:55 - i got the 400 geodes by completing the dry top map on 4 characters, each time you do i gives you 100 geodes and it is very fast and easely done.
I have a quick question as a new player, Do we have to reactivate all the waypoints which i active on 1st character again if i start making 2nd character? Or if there is anyway to unlock them faster?
I'm a noob at level 19. Yesterday I tried to locate a daily called Dragon Bash that was listed on my screen, but no matter what I did, clicked, right-clicked, hovered my cursor, studied the map and asked in the chat box how to get to these dailies, there was no answer. So I couldn't do the daily. How do you GET to the dailies? And is there a minimum level?
Thank you. I found the main reason I wasn't able to participate. The player has to purchase an expansion before they can access the dailies. I'm free to play until payday. It would be nice if the game would explain that.
Got back to the game been farming meta auric and pinatas and doing low level fratals to start getting to ascended gear , as far as i heard legendaries are easy respecing and visual only so fuck wasting time on that :D

Oh, I usually do pvp to get the daily achievements, then I try to do the daily t1 fractals, and if I have more time, I'll do more fractals and maybe some wvw or RIBA training. Kyosika: Do you park alts by daily chests? I've just begun farming Bjora chests, since I just recently got aware of this, and I need the metals for my upgradable bags. I have no alts at 80 yet, and have to do this with my main, but alt-parking seems like a VERY good strategy to start with as easly as possible. If you do this, which zones/chests are best if you only consider profit? New lvl 80 players: For the love of god - do NOT belive you have the slightest chance in hell to get legendaries anytimes soon. Simply FORGET about them while working on getting ascended gear instead. It's just as good, but once stats are chosen, you cannot change them, which is the main difference. Everyone: Don't think people have moved on just because new contents has come out. Newest expansion is now 1 week old, and there are lots of players in most zones, making it piss easy to do events and metas. Probably because there's really not that much to do in only 3-4 zones after the story is complete.

So getting them parked is quite the effort. - New lvl 80: Agree! But it's something to look forward to! It should be your end goal! - Everyone: Agree! And also, more people will return to those maps. Look at Auric Basin or Silverwastes. These maps are about 7-8 years old and people are there all the time!

There are some legendaries that do not have a precursor, for example wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Nevermore These require you to do crafting/alternatively purchase off the TP, and events, such as specific fractals. You work on them in stages, for example this is the first set of requirements that you need for Nevermore: wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Nevermore_I:_Ravenswood_Branch You will need 19 Tyria mastery points to put into the Legendary Crafting Mastery line in order to make these legendaries wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Central_Tyria_mastery_tracks#Legendary_Crafting

We all do! I spent so much time crafing my first legendary. If I had crafted it nowadays it would be much faster :)
My daily routine is:
Collect Quartz in Drytop/Crystal Oasis
Charge my Quartz at HP
Do HOT maps meta events for exp and chest
If there are POF group I do those as well
Do the 3 easiest dailies for 2 gold
Do all T3 + Recs fractals
Make my daily crafting for ascended armor
Complete any map to 100%.
Get some mastery points in HOT
This usually takes me 6-7 hours to complete. I have been playing for 1.5 months now
For someone who has been playing for 1.5 months, I'd say this is a pretty advanced routine! Good job dude! :)

I'm a new ish casual player and I'm working on finishing the whole map. Currently at 61% I haven't touched crafting at all because I'm having a hard time getting into it. I've saved materials just in case but it all seem rather overwhelming and I have no idea how to get started with a goal in mind.

Not daily, but a weekly routine: You can get a black lion chest key once per week by doing the lvl10 personal story on a new character.

You can get 30 Geodes (if I'm not mistaken!) from Map completion at Dry Top. If you have multiple characters it's a good way to get them fast ^^ ofc, it only works once :P

My routine it's 2-3 hrs in wvw if I have extra time I do pvp and fractals in last. Crafting ascendanded mats are 2 min spend, no problemo.

I wish this game had that kind of reward that added real value to your character like deal more damage or more healing output.
For doing dailies? Well, you get more permanent XP, gold etc. Extra damage would give you advantage over newer players ;)

Try to join a guild! There are plenty in Lions Arch. A lot of friendly people will help you get around ;)
When asking in Lions Arch, just plainly say you’re a newbie. That way you get only into a guild that appreciates that, rather than finding yourself in a guild where they don’t see that as a positive. Some love it, some don’t, so just tell them and they’ll self qualify

@Kyosika I think it is either young and or spoiled gamer's or a.d.d types that can not have fun in a game for years that offers so much. There are pvp dailies, pve dailies, fractal dailies, strike mission dailies, and world bosses. Let alone guild missions, playing with friends, guild mates, personal story, living world story, and working towards ascended gear and weapons, let alone map completion and meta stuff. Just boggles my mind when ppl complain but hey to each their own. Games like any art are destined to be loved by some and disliked by others. Hopefully the "Im bored" types can find a game more to their play styles as we all play to have fun, and see new things and meet new peoples. Another fun video Kyosika :). I just grind out levels. Do missions if i have some and map completion. Going for lvl 80, already got the dlc but didnt know you can only play after lvl 80 and i am saving the free lvl 80. New dlc hype, i should have decent stuff by the time the new stuff arrives. 65 to 73 today, big.

03:55 - i got the 400 geodes by completing the dry top map on 4 characters, each time you do i gives you 100 geodes and it is very fast and easely done.

Do we have to reactivate all the waypoints which i active on 1st character again if i start making 2nd character? Or if there is anyway to unlock them faster?
Yes, you do have to reactivate them! However, mounts are account wide that makes it faster ;)
I'm a noob at level 19. Yesterday I tried to locate a daily called Dragon Bash that was listed on my screen, but no matter what I did, clicked, right-clicked, hovered my cursor, studied the map and asked in the chat box how to get to these dailies, there was no answer. So I couldn't do the daily. How do you GET to the dailies? And is there a minimum level?
You need to go to Hoelbrak (Norn City) to participate in the events. The dailies are usually tied to a specific event or action you have to fulfill.

(I'm trying to get ascended gear, and I'm using fractals in order to get it, but I'm not if raids are better for that)

Do you park alts by daily chests? I've just begun farming Bjora chests, since I just recently got aware of this, and I need the metals for my upgradable bags. I have no alts at 80 yet, and have to do this with my main, but alt-parking seems like a VERY good strategy to start with as easly as possible. If you do this, which zones/chests are best if you only consider profit?
New lvl 80 players:
For the love of god - do NOT belive you have the slightest chance in hell to get legendaries anytimes soon. Simply FORGET about them while working on getting ascended gear instead. It's just as good, but once stats are chosen, you cannot change them, which is the main difference.
Everyone:
Don't think people have moved on just because new contents has come out. Newest expansion is now 1 week old, and there are lots of players in most zones, making it piss easy to do events and metas. Probably because there's really not that much to do in only 3-4 zones after the story is complete.

No I don't. I know some people do but I feel it was a bit of a hassle. I use most of my characters in Raids or other types of content. So getting them parked is quite the effort.
