Hey man nice guide, I think you forgot to add the combo field priority mechanic where the field first dropped in an area will take priority over any other fields placed on top of it. Lastly, I'd like to add a small tip for new players if the finishers are confusing just focus on blasting in any field, the effects are aoe and generally better than any other finisher.
Just sacrifices 3 minutes of my break to check this out. It seems that the point I make in the video is correct. I used Wildfire (Fire Field) + Warhorn Water 5 (Water Field - don't know the name). The healing one overrules the fire field. So the first field dropped is not always leading: imgur.com/Ire3yr0 ;)

So I'm fairly new to GW2, currently standing at 1 max level character since I've only been playing for a year or so (maybe less idk. Just know that I got it within the past semester or 2 of college). Didn't know about combos until this point, but I've been doing them unintentionally. If the in game character chatter when you do a combo is anything to go by. Thanks for explaining them tho. Now I can do them better :)
Another great video! Do you run the Snowcrows builds in PvE? For example, you had shots of Grizzlewood and Silverwastes, are you using the raid builds there?
Hey Michelle! I do sometimes! The Snow Crows builds are heavily focussed on DPS. I would advice you running a Meta Battle Open World build instead. Or, run a Snow Crows build with some defensive skills or traits. Does that help? :)
all these Meta builds for fractals and raids are more for organized group content, when you want to support players around you or you have to rely on other players builds and skills to be most effective, these builds mostly aren`t so effective when doing solo content or in random groups

There is another TH-camr called Mukluk that has guides on auto attack/ low intensity 20k+ builds, is very accessible, which I appreciate a lot as a casual player want to not be a hindrance the odd time I decide to do a dungeon
my god the game is deep,im playing ele,arcane,catalyst,my dodges cast skills,eart dodge is an AOE cripple that is a blast finsher,i can make it do 4 diferent things just using the 4 types of jade spheres i have,so i can just drop a combo field and dodge trough to basicly cast 2 skills,it makes the combat so expressive

I reached lvl 80 about a month ago. I've never heard about combos in this game, until an early EoD quest reqired me to use it on a trainer yesterday. The game had a extremely basic and piss poor way of trying to explain it, and frankly, I didn't understand it at all. I asked in chat, and most players in the zone seemed to struggle with this. Therefore, I have the impression that this is NOT common knowledge. After all, EoD is lvl 80 only, so no low lvls in chat. I have no idea how I completed that quest requirement, but after struggling with it for probably 12-15 mins, it was suddenly done

My friend and I have been playing the game for about a month and there are a couple frustrating things about the game. One we need help on right now is; Is there a way to auto target an enemy instead of needing to click on them? We've been doing the Hot Metas but when there's an enemy surrounded by dozens of players it becomes nearly impossible to click on the target enemy. I know that you can just press an ability and it will auto target an enemy, but more often than not it targets a lesser enemy and not the boss. Is there a way to one-click ensure I target the boss? Also, my friend struggles trying to target an enemy at 2% health when he wants to rally (he always ends up accidently clicking on an enemy with full health if they're standing too close near the enemy with low health) and he's wondering if there's a way to auto-target the nearest enemy with the least amount of health?
Hey there, You can press Tab to get one of the targets in front of you. I've set a hotkey (C) for targeting the closest enemy. You can then target it by pressing CTRL + T. For your friend, set a hotkey for a the closest target. You can find that under F11
Judging by the people who auto attack-afk and then die on Drakkar after being rezzed 5 times - most players seem to already be pretty good at not underestimating their auto attacks. ;-)
An interesting thing I've found (idk if he talked about it in the video or not.) Is that a finisher can only work in one field as far as I can tell. How the game decides which field to use I also don't know. I'd like some explanation haha
Good question! The last field used counts as the leading field. I talke about this in the "Overruling Combo Fields" section. So, if you use a Fire field and then put a water field over that, the water field's effect would count
@@Kyosika gotcha, what if that water field in this example comes from an ally in the open world not in your party, while your trying to do your combos?
That works the same but I'm not certain about that! I have to try that. Usually these skills only affect 5 allies. In squads I know this is limited to your subgroup but in Open World, I'm not sure!

When he was making a mechanics video for "creep agro" even though he was a professional who had played for years he re tested everything he knew on stream. Then during the stream people asked questions about the mechanic that had never occured to him. The final video ended up being a bit longer than he thought it was be haha. But I thought that would be a cool idea to pass along in case you ever wanted to do something like that :)

It was my understanding that the pounce of the Warclaw did the most damage of all the mounts. EDIT: I was misinformed. Basic damage in descending order (damage with Ravenous Discipline mastery): Skyscale 3448 (5280) Griffon 3225 (3311) Raptor 2203 (3311) Warclaw 1635 (3311, 4350 in PvP) Springer 1553 (3433) Roller Beetle 1430 (2146) Jackal 1390 (3065) Skimmer 1068 (2146) Bear in mind that there are other considerations, such as the Skimmer healing allies and the Jackal granting a barrier. And various other masteries add their own effects. See the wiki.
Oh yeahhh! Thank you! It's a Jaguar bass btw! You can barely tell the difference. I bought it because it has a nice mix of Jazz and Precision elements built in.
is not that hard to hit your target with your mount if you have a keybind for targeting and lock your target and you forgot the WvW mount it can initiate a fight i can hit walls to enter a building to capture and can throw a spear to unmount another mounted player and initiate a fight
@@Kyosika currently not running any Engineer. But I remember in my early days blasting your healing turret (this one still amazingly effective) and Elixir Gun for great sustain. All these fields and finishers made engi a class with a high skill ceiling but so much fun as soon as you master the game play. Don't even wanna talk about these 87 step rotation in Raids on core builds.

I'm only a few hours in and another game trained me to avoid white outlines. Apparently I've been dodging out of friendly combo fields

Oh yeahhh! Thank you! It's a Jaguar bass btw! You can barely tell the difference. I bought it because it has a nice mix of Jazz and Precision elements built in.
is not that hard to hit your target with your mount if you have a keybind for targeting and lock your target and you forgot the WvW mount it can initiate a fight i can hit walls to enter a building to capture and can throw a spear to unmount another mounted player and initiate a fight

Hahahaha, true, Engineers use a lot of them. You running any build in particular?
@@Kyosika currently not running any Engineer. But I remember in my early days blasting your healing turret (this one still amazingly effective) and Elixir Gun for great sustain. All these fields and finishers made engi a class with a high skill ceiling but so much fun as soon as you master the game play. Don't even wanna talk about these 87 step rotation in Raids on core builds.
