One I discovered recently - you can double-click on a waypoint on your minimap to instantly go to that location without dealing with the "are you sure?" dialog box. Nice when you're in a hurry trying to escape from enemies you don't want to deal with.
FFS.... For 6 years I kept complaining that there is no button to restart the adventure... I don't know how often I ran back or suicided... xD Also great to know that you can see the actual profit in tp :D
I got one. You can target an boss by clicking on the health bar in the event menu (top right of screen) very handy if you want to target the boss but there are lots of ads. Or it the joko fractal as the boss spawns clones of herself
I knew all of them :( some new ones are: - Type "I am Evon Gnashblade" in the trading post for a compact view of items (same to disable it). - You can hover on your condition duration icon on stats to see the increased duration of specific conditions, like you have a 50% condi duration but a 70% on burning because of a rune, etc. - You can go through enemies if you disable melee combat assist in options (that shit comes by default enabled, frustrating). - Your camera is not by default on maximum possible distance, you can set the Field of View to the right to get that. - All races have the same hitbox and speed, even if your "perception" of some of them make them look faster/slower. - Teach them about LFG, best tool in the game. - You can invite people to group with commands (/invite Name), it also works to join (/join Name) and also squads /squadjoin and /squadinvite. Useful when the game doesn't show you the right click option to invite a friend. - You can whisper yourself with the command: /tell YourName
- Similar to underwater sigils, if you have a stacking sigil (bloodlust, corruption, etc) on your land weapons but NOT on any underwater weapons, you will lose your stacks when going in the water. This sucks for WvW where you might dip in the water for a second and have to regain all stacks! - When mystic forging a lot in short succession (like upgrading mats or making clovers) you can interact with the forge again immediately after hitting "forge" to cancel the long animation - At NPC merchants you can drag the number up or down to increase or decrease the amount you're buying. - Worth noting that only one combo field can be "active" at a time! So if you lay down a smoke field to blast for stealth but then your friendly Guardian buddy puts down a light field, you're going to blast the light field instead of the smoke. - You can type /wiki in the chat box followed by what you want to wiki (i.e. /wiki mystic forge) and it'll open a browser window with the wiki! - You can click the endurance bar to dodge :D
Just throwing this out there as embarrassed how long it took me to notie. Therese a little red bar below a ranged skill that will show when youre in range of the target.
I use the Pvp lobby to repair my Broken Armor. Just entering PvP auto repairs armor, and Exit PvP returns you to the same spot you left the map, so you don't have to do all the running, or pay for waypoints.

@Iron Tusk yes, and since they don't aggro people tend to ignore them so they build up a large xp bonus. When you are leveling it's worth it to kill yellow enemies around because of that

5:45 For those that have access to it, a Fiery Dragon Sword is one of the brightest lights in the game. It's also usable on some classes that can't use a torch.
Super useful guide, I always enjoy these types of videos as a veteran. A couple of these I had no idea about! Also, I just found out yesterday while grinding out Vision that while you're diving down on a griffon- if you press the space bar while diving you can double dive and increase your speed even more.
The Balthazar backpack also helps illuminate the ground in dark spots of the game. It’s the largest reason I use only that skin as a back item. So helpful!!
re: salvaging, if you put the stacks at the bottom end of your inventory bags (if you don't have sufficient shared inventory slots) these will be salvaged last. salvaging starts from top to bottom left to right.
Or you can put them in an invisible bag to not have them salvaged. I always have one equipped at the very top of the bag for stuff I carry around, but don't want to accidentally sell or salvage.
I also use the invisible bags for stuff I don't want showing at a merchant or trading post. Makes for a quicker and cleaner look when selling my stuff. Not sure if invisible/safe bags go over 20 slots though? if big bags are higher priority.
A few additional points: About map ping, you can also Shift+Left click to do the standard ping. and Shift+ hold left click -> select for special pings. You can move the minimap the same way you move the chat. Invisible bags also work to prevent salvaging. Another thing that I would have added is that you can cancel skill/animations/actions by using the stow/draw weapon key.
Something else worth noting: if you're in a guild and it has a guild hall and scribing station, you can open the guild UI and go to your guild hall. Activate the station, and use the tabs on the left to flick through normal bank UI. And if the guild has got that far, then they've probably got a normal merchant next to where you spawn in, too.
Great tips, but I would add that when map completing and can't find what you are missing you can hover your mouse over the left side of the map where it shows your completion it will ping those missing spots on the map, HPs, Vistas, etc. Almost always, sometimes it redirects you to a Scout. Otherwise, consult the wiki.
Elementalist tip: I don't know if it's a bug or a hidden mechanic but it has been around for a long time and it's useful in all game modes. In Fire staff you can use 4 and while dashing backwards quickly click 5 - this way you will dash but the meteor shower will be cast in the same place as you would cast without dashing. This gives you free range and is super useful in PvP.
Not everyone has Shared Inventory bags, but anyone can get Invisible bags. Anything stored in an Invisible bag will be exempt from selling (whether at a merchant or at the Black Lion trading post) unless dragged out into a normal bag, or salvaging unless done manually. This allows you to keep treasured "junk" items safe (I have a pair of Queen Jennah's shoes... don't judge), and stash away your unidentified gear until you collect a full stack.

I'll add one of my own: Check out your keybinds in the controls section of the options menu. I promise there are things there you never knew you could keybind! For example, you can keybind individual mounts. I have my skyscale bound to the middle mouse button, leaving the 'x' default mount free to change to a good ground mount (edit) Oh and one more thing!! In the map, if you are missing a vista, hero point, etc., you can hover the mouse over the corresponding icon in the legend and the missing things will light up! Useful for getting those pesky points of interest that are hard to see. Do be warned, however, that this only works for areas you've already discovered in the zone you are currently in. So it won't work for the world map and won't work if the thing you're missing is in an area you haven't unblurred!
Ty, for explaining about the map thing ... decided to go for map completion, and as I am about 90%, do not really want to resort to an add on ... was wondering why I can not find the last one or two hero points or heart.
I literally just discovered the stack salvaging thing myself last week, which was a game changer. Also, you showing that I can just right click the chests blew my mind.
Jesus Christ. I have been playing the game for around 8 years now and I never knew you could rearrange the items in the Mystic Forge UI. Thank you very much. This is a game changer.
Hey man! Got into a random pvp match with you yesterday and because of your name I checked out your Twitch, then ended up here. Great content! I've played very little since 2012 and often take year+ breaks so all of your vids are super helpful. Thanks for the effort and explanations, brother.
PgUp-PgDown also helps with elevation on the map. =) Didn't know about right click on reward chest though. Yeah, today years old when I learned about tool-tip on selling items.
Awesome guide! I've linked it in our Discord channel to assist new players. You could also add that any crafting station (including scribe at guild hall) can be used as a bank - irrespective of whether you have the discipline or not
On the note of targeting: If you put the CTRL+LMB target on an ally, the "lock on target" shortcut key will make you target your allies target. Also, while not always 100% reliable, when you use Tab to cycle through locked on targets, it'll prioritise more powerful targets (champs/legendaries).
I did not know you could make Almagated stones from the Forge. I've been selling those to the vendor/trading post and with the Drizzlewood map you get piles of them. The worst thing...I had to BUY a bunch for crafting. Super helpful video...and I've been playing since launch.
I meant first one* sleep deprived brain is stupid. I also subbed because holy crap you checked an old video to interact with my comment?! That's amazing!
Played since the headstart until a few years ago and just came back. Can confirm I did not know about all of these, including several that were probably always there.
Muk about the pvp lobby portal to lions arch, its only available to a character at level 35+, although its available to anyone with an expansion. Still, nice guide! Very helpful
Lions Arc is accessible from lvl 1 for Accounts that have purchased the game (As you can only purchase the game with PoF and HoT). Free Accounts are however not allowed to access Lions Arc before lvl 35, and it is per character.
You can use wvw as a free banking access too, and us Waypoint to friend to get into new maps. You may consider that finding your cursor is easier using yolo mouse, and preset overlays allow for better visual setting often resulting in better fps and ping
I've never had to use the PvP lobby portal to get to Lions Arch on a new toon. After the starting instance, you begin right in front of your capitol city, which has a portal to Lions Arch in it already.
This is the best video of gw2 i found and the only one who didnt make me wanna blow my head up, things should be short and to the point and people tell you stories of their dead dog like you have time
This tought me i really need to read tooltips more or something. It was almost if i was playing a different game. Very helpful especially the salvage all, here ive been spending minutes spam clicking all the crap i get LOL not to mention depositing materials by hand!
Great video! I learned a few things. You can also take a new character to WvW and immediately go right into the portal to Lions Arch. I find that easier for some reason.
Mukluk: “Soulbeasts! They took away our ability to swap pets in combat-“ Me, a soulbeast main wiping a single tear from my cheek: “Yeah. Yeah, they did.”
Ok actually tho, that dodge while sitting would be really useful for my deadeye in jumping puzzles. I go faster while stealthed and don't always have the space to dodge or the ability to use my stealth skill because I don't want to accidentally mess up anyone else's jumps
For the ground targeting in dark rooms portion you can hold the right mouse button to change the camera angle without activating the ground target skill. You also don't need to disengage the skill at all since it won't activate until you press the skill button again or left mouse button.
That depends on your settings (Options, Combat/Movement, Ground targeting), I'm using Fast with Range Indicator, which means that when I release the button, the skill is activated. Right mouse button camera angle is super useful tho ^^
Addendum to "Maps and Targeting": You can shift and hold left mouse button on the map (mini or full) to open a small radial menu with additional pings another one: you can also hold control Ctrl and left-click on an NPC or player to "target" them (as at 5:08) The targeting reticule = see in the dark is cheating!!!1!!111!! I used it so many times in the Weyandt's Revenge JP. xD I'll definitely try the tip at 5:57 in the future. It's such an obvious one. :D
What would I ever do if I hadn't found out that I could Dodge by clicking my health bar. I can finally achieve optimal dps in raids now. 😂 Honestly tho thanks for all the tips lot of them will help me by reducing effort especially the drawing on map thing so useful when running dungeons with first timers.
Bookahs for the win! Also love how the total play time is 3,910 and he says, "As you can see I like Ranger a little bit." Then I went and checked my own play time and it was nearly 3 times as much. I guess I obsess a little bit! LOL
@Demacian Weavile well judging from the profile picture I think they are aware and use it in a playful manner as their character is human. But htank you for that wiki pagae, super interesting trivia on there!
ARCDPS has an option where you can turn off the damage numbers that sometimes obscure combat. Artificer crafting allows you to consolidate Luck! Really useful for new years festival
In wvw in chat option you can select option for borderland tag before nickname. (RBL/BBL/GBL/EBG/OS) it's usefull when pugs don't write on which bl they are when enemy's zerg attack. It's saving your time, you can jump before que etc.
On the note about avoiding accidentally salvaging things like unidentified gear, you can stick them in an invisible bag slot and they will be ignored by the salvage operation. I always set up my inventory like this: normal bags at the top, invisible bag at the bottom. I stick everything I know I'm going to keep and not sell into the invisible bag, being careful to leave three spots, wherein I'll place unidentified gear so that I can deal with them in bulk. Stuff like consumables, gear I don't have equipped via a template, alternative weapons I might swap out to in niche situations etc. I don't use trophy bags or craftsman bags any more. Frankly, I don't care where trophies/materials end up in my inventory, as long as it's not in my invisible bag. I sell junk when I get to merchants and every so often I'll salvage all loose identified greens/blues and mass deposit materials. If stuff like a sigil or medallion has no buy listing on the TP and a huge number of sell listings, they're going to the merchant or I'll salvage them, depending on whether or not I care to remember to salvage them if they're salvageable (usually I don't.) If I get overflow from depositing too many materials, I'll sort it by opening my crafting characters to refine base materials. I'll sell refined overflow unless I know I'm saving it for something. I've resized my window so I can see the entire thing, but if yours is just too large, you can make your inventory show all bags (on by default)-clicking on a bag icon on the left will make the window jump to that bag.
9:42 there is an even better shortcut to a Bank and Lion's Trader, by entering the WvW menu, and choosing 'Obsidian Sanctum' to teleport. It is also includes a shortcut gate to Lion's Arch, a Merchant, and more.
The hiding unidentified armor from salvage also works if you use an invisible bag, put anything in an invisible bag you don't want to accidentally salvage.
The thing with the salvaging and shared inventory slots excluding stacks and items from salvage all works with bags of the invisible kind as well (including the Courier variant for more than 20 space)
Save your potions of PvP reward. You can quickly use them to get a daily, or to move through a reward track. (Especially handy when a new track is released)
You can retarget some skills too, you missed that one. Retarget means you can use a skill like "Rush" on warrior and it will make your character about face or change direction depending on the target you have marked when you press you take target key, mid skill. Skills can also be cancelled by pressing sheathe weapon key, or if its a channel skill you have to swap weapon.
Been playing for 8 years, and the very first tip was something I didn't know, and have never done even by accident. I feel a bit stupid, but it's never too late to learn new things :). Thanks for this, great video!
I know this is an older video, but the best tip I've gotten for how to jump + dodge at the same time is to position your thumb so its on both the space bar and V button to dodge, so you press both at the same time

ArenaNet should play this as an introduction video when you first boot the game. There are so many things I wish I had known years before.

Regarding the "useless" dodge-by-clicking-the-bar, I'm pretty sure that is an accessibility feature for those who only have/can use one hand.
Salvaging, if you put the items you don't want to salvage in a invisible bag, you never have to worry about salvaging them

Awesome guide! I've linked it in our Discord channel to assist new players. You could also add that any crafting station (including scribe at guild hall) can be used as a bank - irrespective of whether you have the discipline or not
On the note of targeting:
If you put the CTRL+LMB target on an ally, the "lock on target" shortcut key will make you target your allies target.
Also, while not always 100% reliable, when you use Tab to cycle through locked on targets, it'll prioritise more powerful targets (champs/legendaries).
And here I was, thinking my team mates were just trolling me ...
Me before watching this video: "Pssh, I know all the tricks by now."
Me after watching this video: "I know nothing."
You know nothing Sky Winter. (That sound strangely similiar to Jon Snow, right? xD)
This made me laugh out loud XD
8:00 can also just hit "R" to reset events. For bag opening, would suggest opening on lvl 80 if looking for dust
Salvage stack also very helpful when working on crafting ascended foods
I did not know you could make Almagated stones from the Forge. I've been selling those to the vendor/trading post and with the Drizzlewood map you get piles of them. The worst thing...I had to BUY a bunch for crafting. Super helpful video...and I've been playing since launch.
The first time floored me. I have been clicking popups for 3 weeks now.... THANK YOU
I meant first one* sleep deprived brain is stupid. I also subbed because holy crap you checked an old video to interact with my comment?! That's amazing!
5:00 - Read my mind, again! As soon as you said that your party can see what you draw on the map that was exactly what I was thinking of doing!
But only for Free-To-Play characters, innit? The level 35+ thing, I mean.
@@generalerica4123 That's right. I've definitely used it on lvl 2 characters. WvW as well.
Lions Arc is accessible from lvl 1 for Accounts that have purchased the game (As you can only purchase the game with PoF and HoT). Free Accounts are however not allowed to access Lions Arc before lvl 35, and it is per character.
When I tell you I've been playing for 7 years and I've never known the FIRST one dude, thank you!
Just got into this gem of a game. Love the Revenant class. Hope endgame won't be disapointing tho..
You can use wvw as a free banking access too, and us Waypoint to friend to get into new maps. You may consider that finding your cursor is easier using yolo mouse, and preset overlays allow for better visual setting often resulting in better fps and ping
Thank you for the tips! 6yrs and I didn't know some. Also, put my Amazon order in through the link.
I've never had to use the PvP lobby portal to get to Lions Arch on a new toon. After the starting instance, you begin right in front of your capitol city, which has a portal to Lions Arch in it already.
Does not work for free acounts
@@oshitwaddup4956 Ah, that I did not know. Never tried the free account verson.
They took away our ability to swap pets in combat-“
Me, a soulbeast main wiping a single tear from my cheek: “Yeah. Yeah, they did.”
Ok actually tho, that dodge while sitting would be really useful for my deadeye in jumping puzzles. I go faster while stealthed and don't always have the space to dodge or the ability to use my stealth skill because I don't want to accidentally mess up anyone else's jumps
Just equip trinket of Shadows and you'll go fast enough anyway though
a fellow deadeye!
Alright you got me. I didn't know about the salvage kit tricks. Thanks for this info.
Addendum to "Maps and Targeting": You can shift and hold left mouse button on the map (mini or full) to open a small radial menu with additional pings
another one: you can also hold control Ctrl and left-click on an NPC or player to "target" them (as at 5:08)
The targeting reticule = see in the dark is cheating!!!1!!111!! I used it so many times in the Weyandt's Revenge JP. xD
I'll definitely try the tip at 5:57 in the future. It's such an obvious one. :D
Great vid thanks, one thing to add Is the wiki tool to know info about an item.
What would I ever do if I hadn't found out that I could Dodge by clicking my health bar. I can finally achieve optimal dps in raids now. 😂
Honestly tho thanks for all the tips lot of them will help me by reducing effort especially the drawing on map thing so useful when running dungeons with first timers.
7 years playing and did't know some of the tips. Thanks Muklklkkk
You have no idea how useful these were for me, thank you!!
Right clicking on skill bar to change it! Thank you!
**plays for five-and-a-half years**
Oh shit, I didn't know it did that! O_o;
Mandatory viewing for every player. Excellent!
Been playing for years, and gosh there were so many new things learned from this video! Thank you
playing since day 1, but i admit there was stuff i dind't know. Great video !
I never heard of a Personal waypoint...learned lots of new things with your video wow!
Some interesting tricks. I'll have to tell all my friends about clicking on the dodge bar, they'll get a laugh out of that!
The Stack Salvage button is massive.... omg thank you
Wow 5 years and some of these were new to me!! ty
9:42 there is an even better shortcut to a Bank and Lion's Trader, by entering the WvW menu, and choosing 'Obsidian Sanctum' to teleport. It is also includes a shortcut gate to Lion's Arch, a Merchant, and more.
Amazing video and even after 7 years of running around and killing mobs in Tyria, I didn't know all of them yet :p
Only works if you have "Allow Skill Retargeting" enabled (Options, Combat/Movement)
only thing i didnt know was that you can move items in the mystic forge window :D
overall great list
Shift + mouse wheel changes map height too.
Also the best way to dodge jump is to use your thumb on space and v at the same time.
I spent far longer than I'd like to admit trying to figure out wtf kind of contortionist you are before I remembered I'm a leftie gamer.
Great collection of Tips, even if only 2 where new to me, the sit dodge and Soulbeast thing, but i didn't play Soulbeast for a long time.
The salvage kit stuff is super useful! Thanks, Mukluk :)
Been playing for 8 years, and the very first tip was something I didn't know, and have never done even by accident. I feel a bit stupid, but it's never too late to learn new things :). Thanks for this, great video!
i didnt even know u could salvage a stack, thanks muk
I know this is an older video, but the best tip I've gotten for how to jump + dodge at the same time is to position your thumb so its on both the space bar and V button to dodge, so you press both at the same time
The one about the stat changes on the ascended armor was very helpful. Now I know what to do with those 3 chests in my bank 😅
