  • The elite specializations for the guild wars 2 professions are always a major draw into the game however they vary in difficulty from mind numbingly easy to ridiculously complex. In this video I explain my thoughts on the easiest elite specializations for each of the 9 professions.

    I really totally agree, because you also mention the nearest and their a bit more difficulty, I have on every Class up to 3 specs and I feel the same, often one spec is much less fun to play. I dont like 111111 dpecs they are boring, but some got really too complex , but atm on every class there are 2 really fun to play. I even could start playing Ele Catalyst.

    as always excellent content, missing the spellbreaker is easier than the berserker and is literally the same only now you will have a f2 that makes you a little ball and absorbs any attack but that you will almost never occupy.

    Thanks for another great vid, Caffeinated!
    I agree with this list except for elementalist. I mained Tempest for several years and over the last month I decided to give Catalyst a go (which was mostly motivated by watching this channel lol). While your points about survivability and condition application are true, I find that it requires a more in depth knowledge of combat & spec mechanics to get the most out of it, as where Tempest is a lot more straightforward and has a much gentler introduction to those more in depth mechanics... Provided you can stay alive, of course but Celestial Tempest is a good place to start while one gets better at not attuning to the downstate. Tempest is also far slower. Catalyst genuinely makes my soft little gamer hands hurt if I play for a couple of hours (no pain, no gain!!).
    But I am also potentially biased because the familiarity of playing Tempest makes it seem like the easiest class to me, so maybe the easiest class is just the one you stick with the longest :)
    Incidentally, where can I find your stream schedule. I see you stream on TH-cam (I don't do the whole Twitch thing) and I'd love to stop by sometime - of all the GW2 content creators, I feel like this channel aligns with my playstyle and view of the game the most

      I agree, I think when people hear "easiest" they generally think what the most comfortable, easiest to remember rotation is for the most value; what's more forgiving, and what requires the least amount of adjustment time. That's Tempest, 100%. Especially because the current Open World Tempest meta has a few base game weapon varieties whereas Catalyst will require someone to adjust to new skills.

    • @thehallmonitor4515
      @thehallmonitor4515 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think it depends for which content. High end PVE you are absolutely correct, but for open world a cele condi catalyst is super easy to play. Basically just runs signets and swap between fire/earth. Dont even have to use overloads lol

  • @irispounsberry7917
    @irispounsberry7917 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    I would have gone with Tempest as an "elementalist plus". Hammer's skills are generally shorter range than most of warhorn's skills, which on other specs you touted as a bonus for being easy, and the only real difference between Tempest and Core ele is the overload mechanic, and even they have more of a radius than the catalyst's hammer 3 skills. The tempest traitline also gives (with the minor Grandmaster Hardy Conduit) the protection boon when overloading, so there is defense when having to get within close range.

  • @notpc3070
    @notpc3070 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +23

    For me, I went with Tempest for my elite. I rotate between Fire and Earth. I only dip into Air or Water if I need something special. It hasn't let me down yet, and it's really simplistic for what I do, which is Open world play.

    • @bazookaward3859
      @bazookaward3859 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Same. I tried the Catalyst and if you don't know your rotations you will not be doing the class any justice. I picked up Tempest and knew exactly what I needed to do. If I want damage go to Fire, for Healing Water, for CC Air and defense Earth. Hit the overloads and i am chilling. No fancy weaving in and out of elements. Tempest in my opinion is easier to play that Core Elementalist.

    • @k8x97
      @k8x97 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Yup, Tempest Condi build is actually insane in Open World, and very easy. I actually find that staff is often more useful than scepter/dagger too, which makes it an instant favorite for me in addition to the really cool F1-5 animations.

    Hi CDG. Happy I found your channel as a returning player! I have a weirdly specific question (or set of questions) that you might be able to guide me with:
    I am REALLY about cosmetics in RPGs, and I know this game is all about that. I LOVE the aesthetic of big 2h greatswords and hammers--which profession do you think would be able to consistently use either/both of these weapons in most modes of play (pvp and pve)? I also really love heavy armor aesthetic--but, my next question might not allow for that part to be hit :(...
    Secondly, I also typically love to heal in MMOs. I really like the idea of the Druid for an offspec for healing when a group might need it. Is there any way to have the best of both worlds here? Big flashy 2h weapons in most modes of play AND healing (even as an offspec)?

    • @CaffeinatedDad
      @CaffeinatedDad  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Based off of your thought and likes I'd say ranger or guardian would be your best bets. Both use hammer and greatsword to great affect and both can heal rather eith their elite specs or even their core. I'd say ranger (druid espec) would be great for the healing and hammer usage as both GS and Hammer deal a ton of damage for it. The guardian has the heavy armor look and the greatsword is tons of damage but the hammer is slightly weaker and more about crowd control

  • @okgut2033
    @okgut2033 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    i like your class choices.
    Imo its allways easyer if you put some defence stats in. Eg if your armor set is soldier that brings more tankyness while loosing close to no damage.
    I say that keeping in mind that if you as a player might be not that good at smashing buttons fast in the right order. thats why reaper is so good or other classes that have build in defences.
    Ofc as better you get as less defence are needed. They are just like extra wheels for your bicycle. As soon your experience enough you dont need them anymore :)

    Been playing Rev for the last 2 expansions, and I personally find Herald to be by far the easiest. No energy management to speak of, a mile-long list of permanent boons, quickness included, no additional positioning, no nothing - just swap legends, activate whatever needs to be activated to get your perma quickness and 1500 barrier per tick, and focus on the mechanics and smashing your Mace/Axe. Also, and this may be just my personal quirk, but I'm in absolute love with the Rising Momentum trait. You only need to sacrifice a barely noticeable buff for it, and it stacks with swiftness - so Herald's combat movement is permanently at ~75% of Superspeed. Just chef's kiss. Oh, and if you're fighting a boss of any kind, whoever enters your buff radius gets instantly promoted to Captain America.

    Untamed has a bit more to juggle than soulbeast, but the game gets really easy once you get into the flow of unleash ranger > ambush > weapon swap > ambush > spam skills > unleash pet > spam pet skills > autoattack until ambush comes off cooldown. Huge cleaving burst that gives everyone quickness, with self heal and defense built in. It's sooooo good for open world!

    As a main ranger I vote for untamed as easiest one. It's really a vanilla ranger and fakt tolerant. SB requires good timings and does not increase survivability drastically.

    Hard push for tempest on the list. You have to work much harder to draw out catalyst's defensive abilities, I think, versus tempest who maintains a boosted protection uptime.
    Likewise, tempest's class mechanic is simply easier, because overloads are a no brainer.

    Totally agree with deadeye. Sure, daredevil rotation is easier but you need no dodges available and you have to be super aware of mechanics in order to not die while jumping around and in animation locks. Even beyond rifle, backstab daggers are just comfortable and very good damage.

    Herald isn't so bad with energy management... I'll admit when I read that Herald is hard to play because of the energy management I immediately thought I wouldn't handle it, but as a WoW vanilla Warrior, this kinda made sense to me, even though Berserker is really more like vanilla Fury Warrior.
    Anyhow, Herald has no management issues as long as you play it smart, meaning you don't blast all of your skills at once, because you will output a lot of damage simply just by perma quickness by upkeeping 6 points of upkeep. Pair that with Shiro stance (or demon for condi) and you will be able to upkeep quickness there as well. So the gameplay is actually really simple - spam the skills out if you wish, spend remaining energy for facets/shiro stance to get quickness, auto attack, then rinse and repeat. Also, having weaponmaster, having shortbow + greatsword on a power herald is actually very strong, especially for champion mobs.

  • @EnzoVinZ
    @EnzoVinZ 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    The biggest problem with Thief is the low HP pool, thus the easiest Elite Spec is the Specter -- double life bar + heal + high DPS, not even a question. Virtuoso as light armor caster makes you a glass cannon thus it's not an easy E.Spec, rather the Mirage is much easier since your clones can tank for you while you setup an ambush. Scrapper is easiest Eng E.Spec since the AI on the Mecha is rather annoying -- besides, drones are way cooler. Other than these, I agree with the rest of your list specially the no-brainer Berserker. Except maybe the Elementalist, there's no such thing as easy with Elementalist no matter what E.Spec you choose. It's hard enough to keep track of 10 skills let alone 25 -- Ele players are insane.

    • @recur9245

    I’m probably biased because I’ve spent by far the most amount of time on it but power reaper feels super brain dead to me. You do super nice dps with just like 4 or 5 buttons and it only gets better from there and not much more complicated.
    Plus it has essentially two health bars, or even three+ depending on how you look at it.

  • @danfelder8062
    @danfelder8062 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    For thief, I was SURE you were going to say daredevil actually. I started on thief and it was by far the easiest for open world. Extra dodge with inbuilt aoe, power damage which clears out enemies fast. You don't do the "spend all your dodges for extra damage" thing you do in raids or strikes, you just have an extra dodge to work with and bursty damaged attached.
    Specter is easiest for raid/strike content and similar; or taking down a single big foe. The slow ramp-upcondi damage and lack of great aoe hurts specter a lot when just doing most open world nonsense.

  • @_moondream
    @_moondream 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    For Mesmer, I would say staff Mirage. I'm absolute trash at this game and play pretty much completely solo. I got pretty disheartened playing most other classes and dying all the time, I basically wanted to play on story mode where I could just chill and enjoy exploring the world. Once I tried staff Mirage, suddenly I'm able to solo *some* champions here and there, my clones tank for me and I just stay the hell away from the enemy. I think the staff can feel like a bit of a wet noodle when it comes to impactful damage, but it's the conditions that do the work. I'm very slow with terrible reaction time so it helps that the conditions are consistently applying damage while I'm fumbling around trying not to die. I haven't even unlocked all the traits yet so my build is definitely sub-optimal right now but is still good enough to keep me alive.

  • @1980Shadowwolf

    I must be gifted then or cursed lol i took on Soul Beast and i couldnt make it work where as the untamed. I have aspergers as well and just find something satisfying in ambush LB or axe. I use a axe axe/hammer or LB/hammer build mostly using the axes or longbow at range and hammer at melee. On golem i get about 26k dps which i know isnt top dps nor what people prefer with ranger but untamed is so close to core ranger. Ranger was the first class i played that i took to being a longbow ranger so much so my first leggie was Pharus. Now my ranger is near fully geared in leggies except the four under water sigils and the weapons for under water. I raid on my untamed a lot and hammer is just great for cc break bars as well as exploding spores and if not enough click on unleashed pets skills.

    @SunlightSamurai 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Hmm in group pve format, Vindicator is by far the easiest, than herald, and than renegade :p In general for solo open world all rev classes are the same because energy uptime doesn't matter as much there, but I would agree that renegade has little edge for new players due to shortbow range

    My list before watching in order
    Mechanist
    Specter
    Scourge
    Virtuosa
    These builds have strong low intens condi RANGE dps builds and somen of them also have good easy boon options and amazing low intensity options.
    For examples both power and condi mech can just take barrier signet for 100% Alac no geat swap needed 😂 yes it is low damage but better than nothing. Specter requires full ritualist and scourge I do not know.

    • @xezzee
      @xezzee 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, no. That is a hard disagreement. Specter is THE easiest theif class ranking second easiest from all elite specs, what shrooms were you taking 😂 Deadeye is one of the hardest builda to pick up and learn requiring you to master Revel Stealth and Assassin's Signet on Rifle which while kneeling slows you down and D/D having superd weird and hard rotation depentablenon boss's hp? Mean while Specter is basically Reaper 2.0 if it was easier with better utility 😂
      Also I still think Scourge is easier than Reaper but if you claim Power damae is so much better than condi damage then Reaper would be better. But Specter is still better and easier than Deadeye even if Power dps are better
      Seriously. Spam 3 while out of shroud and spm 24 in shroud while having secondnhealt bar and being 90% range beside shroud 4 is sooo easy and sooo simple.
      Also Alac is way easier on Specter than quick on Deadeye which is even wrose than dps.
      AND even Li Deadeye is harder than just Specter because how brain dead range condi dps it is. Spam 3 and f1 and use f2 off cooldown. Raid shroud 242 exit and open world spam 2 from range 😂 4 and 5 if enemies are close. 3 if you need to fear.

    Actually do that on deadeye and wait how long it takes for your party/squad to scream at you to stack. Long range doesn't feel like an advantage in the game.

    as a mostly solo player (open world + spvp) i'd say:
    spellbreaker (main before revenant existed, played always condi core, than berserker, but full counter broke everything for me, haha) / spvp same
    firebrand (braindead immortality not even stopped by nerfs over and over again :D) / spvp dragon hunter (so much dmg...)
    vindicator (as a revenant main, i'd say it depends extremly on the patchversion :P) / spvp same (i was there, on october the 4th 2022, damn, vindi broke pvp lol)
    druid (even before it became "real", now its even better) / spvp - (only ever played core here, haha)
    daredevil (sadly got hit very hard at some point in time, was a superb LI spec with staff before though) / spvp deadeye (the range :O)
    mech (no debate possible here lol :_D even after so many nerfs, it doesnt get any easier) / spvp same (subjectively, nothing else worked for me)
    scourge (my, at the time, 7 yo daughter could play this and she never played anything on a pc before that :o) / spvp srsly, everything works here, even core
    virtuoso i'd agree, but i'd say any mesmer is more or less hard to play, specialy for beginners (kinda looking through the eyes of my daughter here^^) / spvp virtuoso (range)
    catalyst for pve / tempest spvp
    edit:some space for readability

    Wow, I have the complete opposite opinion about Revenant, I think Herald is the easiest of the 3 specs because you don't have to manage energy. Renegade's Kalla has the highest energy costs and all the profession skills (F2, F3, F4) has very high costs, Vindicator's champions has a medium amount of cost on every skill so you can often cast a skill after 2 or 3 seconds, while Herald's Glint does not have an energy cost on any of the consume skills so you are only worried about the upkeep cost of the facets themselves.
    About Thief, I find Daredevil to be the easiest mostly coming down to cleave and a 3rd dodge button, I know Deadeye has that single target long range damage but it can't cleave at all, and Specter is full condi damage so its hard to burst down groups and also scepter's auto attack can't cleave either just like the rifle.
    About Elementalist in my opinion Tempest is the easiest coming down to no energy management (like seriously Catalyst need energy renegeration while outside combat) and a lot of damage coming from overload.
    About Engineer, its hard to argue about Mech+signets, but I can shout out Scrapper with its cleave, superspeed and passive survivability from self generated barrier and Rapid Regeneration trait.

    Hard disagree on deadeye. Without proper kneel and malice management, both your damage and survivability dip hard. This is particularly apparent in instances. I would've gone with specter, for its survivability, mobility and low skill floor. Has A LOT of cancellable skill casts, though.

It was the stupidest addition ever made in gw2 and whoever made it should have been fired. Its mind numbingly stupid, just press 3 over and over sgain. Sometimes id just leave 3 on auto. Dont even need to worry about positioning much, or setting up stealth. Literally all the combos of thief nearly gone.

    Seems to me like you haven't played the meta builds/rotations that are being used in endgame group content. Berserker easier than Spellbreaker, getting memed on if you drop Berserk for half a second? Renegade easier than Herald, having to manually fill single autos between casts and having to weaponswap + legend swap at precisely below 10 energy? Deadeye being close to impossible to play competitively on most encounters too. This list feels like casual open world playing and pushing random buttons - yea sure, then every espec can be easy.

    In summary, if it's range it's easy. Really not an informed review, but fair enough. Arguably the deadeye has more nuance than just gun go brr. Will Bender is definitely a lot easier to pick up than dragon hunter, but if you want to just point and click sure. As for renegade. Lmao no. No no not at all. The amount of energy management you need to learn playing that class. Just because it's range, doesn't make it easier to play. If you want to turn off your brain and hit things, herald is much better. Just watch your health and how many active channels you have.

    Honestly the dumbest video I've seen for GW2 for a long time. Berserker is crazy to play if you want to do it competently, you have to time your Berserk's well or you end up losing basically all your damage. Which requires extensive game knowledge as well as skills because once berserk is on, it's a hectic class. Meanwhile, you have Spellbreaker where the only mechanic you have to worry about is "Press F1 when it's ready".
