People never notice that the name of the little dog here is also the name of the dog in Jaws the guy was playing fetch with and got eaten at the beach. another little jaws Easter egg 😆
Fun Fact: Jason Statham did most his own swimming (they used a double for the really hazardous stuff). He represented England in the 1990 Commonwealth Games for diving. At one point he was ranked 12 in the world for platform diving.
Based on the novel of the same name by Steve Alten. It took them 20 years to make this movie happen. A lot of directors Guillermo Del Toro, Eli Roth, and Jan De Bont, were considered for making the project. It made $530 million dollars against a $178 million dollar budget.
The references from ‘JAWS’ are brilliant, but watching this with you the 2nd time for myself, I noticed the Bride on the yacht near the beach called her dog ‘Pippin’ same as the black Labrador on the beach in ‘Jaws’ . Thank you for this.
You guys should check out Crawl for another good horror creature feature! Crocodiles + lots of flooding + stranded deep in storm territory = a great time, has some great suspenseful moments and is criminally underrated for these animal-kinda horror flicks !
I absolutely love ridiculous monster movies (as well as disaster movies), it’s my guilty pleasure. shark movies are a fav of mine, i love sharks, they’re beautiful creatures. i wrote a college paper about the “jaws effect” and how sensationalizing random shark attacks and killer shark movies led to millions of shark deaths over the years, & how people are more dangerous to them than they are to us. still, as long as people understand it’s fiction, it’s such a fun & entertaining sub genre of films 😁😁
True, I watched Jaws when I was a kid. It was the beginning of my obsession with sharks. I'm a marine scientist now😂 and trust me many of us got inspired by Jaws
I think "The Shallows" was a really good scary as hell shark movie. "47 Meters Down" is another good one. Definitely check those out for next years summer shark movies. Great reaction, I liked this movie.
Saw a video where Rainn Wilson talked about sitting next to a guy on a plane watching the office for the entire flight, which he acted in and is most well known for. Rainn said he never got into it and the guy defended it, then he took off his face mask slowly and talked to him. It took almost a minute for the realization to sink in then the guys mind was blown. As a big fan of the office, with some small reservations, I thought it was funny. It's great Rainn Wilson is in this, Super, and Star Trek: Discovery. Hope to see him in more things.
Whaaat, that is such a great story haha!! Imagine sitting next to an actor that's in your favorite show and getting to tell them why you love it! It was probably a good thing the guy didn't know it was him 😂😂
Pink Venom has a few references to other music icons as well, if you look hard enough - Kick in the door, waving the coco - reference to Notorious BIG One by one, two by two - Rihanna Look what you made us do - Taylor Swift Maybe more, but those are the ones I'm aware of 😊 The mv videos in this video are all the ones I would recommend for first time listeners, so i think youve hit the nail on the head
I know I'm a little behind on catching up with your guys's videos but I love pointing this kind of stuff out not a lot of people notice it but when that submarine imploded in the beginning on the right side you can actually see the Megalodon getting blown up and turning into chunks which is cool cuz Jonas pointed it out later
Megalodon lived in the Early Miocene epochs a time when mammals started to rule the Earth after the extinction of the dinosaurs. This predator lived around 26 million years ago all the way to the Early Pliocene. This animal ruled the oceans and hunted whales (where you saw it did to the whale family), giant squid, sea turtles, and other sharks. It was the apex predator of its time but it had competed against another predatory whale named Livyatan, and Brygmophyseter. It's the ancestor of the Great White Shark, but scientists differ on whether it would have more closely resembled a stockier version of the great white shark, the basking shark, or the sand tiger shark. But as water temperatures began to get cooler, the Ice Age began to change its habitat and the food became scares or for some unknown reason, around 3 million years ago the Megalodon fated into extinction. But some people believe this fish might be lurking somewhere out there in the oceans as part of the cryptozoology. But we don't know.
Only just found you guys but I love you already you have my sense of humour.... First thing i thought was the jurassic park theme too 🤣 going to check out your others after this
Don't forget The Shallows movie and the 90's Movie Octalus aka Dead Rising. A really underestimated fish monster movie. Funny and brutal. Came out a few month after Camerons Titanic and was a complete box office bomb and it was so not deserved, cause it's kinda connected to the Skull Island idea and directed by Stephen Summers. Also Cliff Curtis is in this, playing Mac in his movie.
If Toshi had enough time to switch on the lights sit down and yell for 3 seconds before the megladon got there, then Toshi had more than enough time to climb up into the sub. 😂 rip.
You guys have to do the sharknado series if not for the ridiculousness of them. Cause you think it can't get any crazier but it keeps saying hold my beer😂.
Aria and Densie I got an interesting story to tell you The part where they're filming the boat scene thin the actress ruby rose she almost drowned during the sad because her feet were And drowned by a bunch of water and the people had to stop for a moment to save her but she's okay but it really did happen during filming this movie !!!
you missed a huge jaws reference. Pippin the dog. The dog in Jaws that gets eaten by the shark at the same time the little boy got eaten. They named the little dog in this the same. unfortunately it survived.....
Steve Alten is an awesome author , he wrote' Dominion- The Mayan Trilogy',a great science fiction series . I hope someday a good director brings them to the screen.🤞
Just an okay movie, saved by the performance and charm of that little girl🙂 Btw, if you're considering Sharknado, I'd watch the hell out of that. The first time I watched the first in the series, I absolutely hated it, but when I gave it another go, I laughed my a$$ off again and again🙂 And they just keep making them more absurd, more insane, more ridiculous and also more funny😂
So all this time a Megalodon is just lurking here near our country, the Philippines 😅 kidding aside I love watching your reactions please can you do a reaction about the movie "Knowing" starring Nicolas Cage. Love and support to the both of you guys from Pangasinan, Philippines ❤
Actually it was Pipit but close enough. I hated that part of the movie. I did read, however that Spielberg offered an alternate idea of what happened. He was getting feedback from people complaining about that segment and he responded by saying that maybe, just maybe, Pipit didn’t belong to the guy throwing the stick. Maybe he was a neighbors dog who just decided he was tired of chasing the stick and went home. Pipit wasn’t, perhaps, eaten by the shark at all. I can live with that!
I loved this movie I love the jaws references too the dog in the first jaws was called pippin and he was eaten so I’m called this dog survived and I’m so called you guys picked up on the subtle references I loved Jason statham and the lady that plays Suyin
Now that it's summer again and Shark Week just happened you guys should watch The Shallows with Blake Lively, I personally found it to be a rally good flick.
I LOVE that you two watch the movies in order, unintended as it was. This way you get to see the evolution of cinema making! I think films can be more enjoyable when watches in this way! I've has a great time on this journey with you!
Bingbing Li wasn't in the sequel, she got into hot water with the chinese government (officially over taxes) but she has only made one movie since The Meg. Her 'taxes' scandal essentially shutdown her career faster than you can say Mel Gibson.
It's interesting to see Ruby Rose in this movie after seeing her in the first season of Batwoman as the title character. Batwoman in comics and other media is the cousin of Batman.
It was an okay movie but i had read the book and having that anticipation hurt my overall opinion of the film. The part that hurt the most was cutting the Tanaka family and substituting them with Suyin and her father. Two very different kinds of characters and Terry Tanaka was a very likable character for a female lead. I wonder why they changed so much
Fun fact for this movie, even if the megalodon swallows you hole you're as good as dead because it's stomach will immediately digest as quick as possible 46:30 "and you guys are in the sky" 🤣🤣 everyone thought that!!!
This Meg was killed in the same way the Great White was killed in JAWS -- the book. Brody's victory was over his own fear of the water. He went under the surface and sliced the shark's belly open with a knife. The smaller sharks in the area finished it off. Just so you know. 😀
Despite the terrible dialogues i really enjoyed this movie. Exploring the unknown deeps, seeing new sea creatures and just the ocean itself is always mesmerizing to me. The Meg did a good job capturing that feeling
Haha yesss we got around to it!! Thanks so much for your support, hope you enjoy our reaction!! Also lolll your mom's crush is definitely valid, he is awesome!
@@OfficialMediaKnightsI just finished. Great reaction as always! I totally agree that it's a 'mac and cheese' kind of movie. It's not thought provoking or profound, but it has some great shots and is wildly entertaining. Sometimes, that's all I want from a film. Good job guys! Loved the video! ❤
Exactly! Same here! Sometimes we just want some fun stuff happening on screen without a super deep explanation. We needed a more laidback film and this was a great time!
Can this be considered a "B Movie" when it costs SO much money? Not that there's anything wrong with being a B movie. But don't get me wrong, this movie is TONS of fun. And features one of my favorite actors, Cliff Curtis. He's one of those guys who shows up everywhere and is ALWAYS good. Great choice, guys. Thanks!
Great film reaction!! Such a fun packed entertaining flick! You guys should definitely check out Deep Rising. A cosmic Lovecraftian horror sea film im sure you both will love so highly recommend

The Shallows is the only other good shark film that I recommend next
please watch Tremor next!
Try a film called “Bait” if you want shark meets natural disaster
If a film can be entertaining, it's done its job, and The Meg certainly qualifies.
Agreed, it was fun!
Darn right.
This is tripe, just dreadful

Yesss!! Love those and this one hit just right!!
I like how this movie is at least somewhat realistic and always tries to give an explanation even if it isn’t the best one
This is a guilty pleasure movie for me. It's silly and fun, but not stupid.
You know it's a good night when you watching TH-cam and you get a notification that these guys make a new vid
Ahh man! That warms our hearts 😄

I caught that when I saw the movie in theaters
Dog here was called pippen
The dog in Jaws was called Pippet ,but there is definitely a reference
Yeah all the Jaws references... although some are a bit different...but still...love them. So great. 👍
Fun Fact: Jason Statham did most his own swimming (they used a double for the really hazardous stuff). He represented England in the 1990 Commonwealth Games for diving. At one point he was ranked 12 in the world for platform diving.
This guy is like a Renaissance man. Quite the athlete

Whoaaa what a turnout!! Incredible how so many amazing directors were considered for this! It was such a fun ride, we thoroughly enjoyed this movie!
And bearing almost zero resemblance to the book at all whatsoever. Fun in it's own right, however.
i didn't know Del Toro was apart of this movie
Aree singing the Jurassic Park theme song is hilarious 😆

In the book Stathams character swims into the sharks mouth and rips its heart out with his bare hands, also the book is a 5 volume series.
Saw a video where Rainn Wilson talked about sitting next to a guy on a plane watching the office for the entire flight, which he acted in and is most well known for. Pink Venom has a few references to other music icons as well, if you look hard enough -

The reference to Florida drivers had me on the floor 🤣 I lived there for 5 years. It's sooo accurate ❤ Great video!
Hahaha I need to find a “I survived I-95” hoodie
I laughed too! I have family in Florida. Every time I go, my dad always offers to drive to sacrifice for us. 😂
The little yorkie named Pippin is actually a reference to Jaws from the beach scene with the black lab who was also named Pippin.
It was great watching this movie with you! Thank you!!
Please do sharknado it is a rabbit hole. I don't think it was ever supposed to be what it became. It's something I think u should watch.
