44:13 The actress playing the Diva was Maïwenn, but the vocalist was Albanian soprano Inva Mula. The first half of the song is from the tragic opera Lucia di Lammermoor by Gaetano Donizetti. The second half was composed by Éric Serra at Luc Besson's request. Besson wanted a song that was alien and couldn't be sung by humans. Some of the notes were impossible for a human to transition between so quickly. So for those notes, Inva Mula sung them individually, and they were assembled by computer.
The Asian soldier guy in this movie used to go to a Starbucks regularly where my wife used to work and she told me he used to tell everyone all the time when he was there that he's a huge movie star that was in the fifth element with bruce willis... the funniest part is he has no dialogue in this movie lol
Great pick y’all, Milla Jovovich is perfect, she looks like a animation character, that’s why they cast her in Resident Evil lol, The reason this movie is a bit odd and goofy is because the director Luc Besson wrote this story as a kid based on the dreams he had, like a Sci-Fi/ fantasy, if y’all like his directing style and you want another good, action, drama I recommend the movie The Professional.
Thanks to Sam and Tristan! 🌱💨🔥🌊❤ My friends and I saw this one four times in the cinema... for the 'Diva Plavalaguna' performance alone. 🔸 Also, the costumes were done by haute couture and prêt-à-porter fashion designer icon Jean Paul Gaultier.
My favorite movie of all time. Some neat facts. The director has been working on it since 16yo thats why story is so good. This is Milla movie debut. The director was engaged to the Diva Singer actress but he left her for Milla. The divine language used in the movie was put together by director and Milla together eventually to thw point they could carry conversation in it. RUBY'S part was written for the singer Prince bit he turned it down as was no longer interested in making movies. There is a great behind the scenes on yt thats good. The alian suits in the beginning had to have basketball players due to size and the saw out with small tv screens inside. The heads and stuff by remote
Its basically Die Hard in space. I ❤ this movie its so much fun. The role Chris Tucker plays was actually offered to Prince but due to scheduling issues he was unable to take the role so Chris acted like Prince . The alien opera diva was the wife of the director/writer Luc Beeson but by the time the movie premiered they were getting divorced as Mila Jovovich was pregnant with his child.
another movie wich you guys will love is BICENTENNIAL MAN with the late Robin Williams RIP it has romance, drama and comedy in it, for me its one of the top movies out there, cheers guys
I've noticed that a lot of younger American reactors seem to have trouble picking up context clues in movies that don't explicitly tell you what is going on. I think it is something not really emphasized in media literacy in the US, for some reason.
Furthermore, cryosleep is a thing in the movie lore, not only brief one for flights like the one for the mission, but long term for the military. In fact Korben has served, and if you notice he says he's classified as a "meat popsicle", term for humans that were frozen and thawed/reawakened, and so the police accepts his answer without having doubts about it.
As for the Resident Evil movies: The first one is fantastic, the second one is good, from there on it is okay(ish). The franchise are pretty much the only video game movies that did well before 2020.
. I recommend you another movie directed by *Luc Besson* 🔥 *Léon: The Professional* (1994) 🔥 _Jean Reno , Natalie Portman & Gary Oldman_ BONUS TRACK *La Femme Nikita* (1990) _Anne Parillaud & Jean Reno_ Directed by *Luc Besson* ,
Lelu and the stones were created for the protection of earth. Hence Lelu is human but perfected. There is a theory that those "robots" were the creators of the human race as well.
"What's that leaking from his head?" Well, it's never made clear, but the general consensus is that it is basically their inner evil, being made physical and drawn forth from their bodies towards the source of all the universe's evil - the Dark Planet. This also explains why Zorg had more of it than Staedert: we've all done something bad in our lives, and Staedert, a career military general of high rank, likely did some morally questionable things in his time (an idea supported by how readily he seemed to want to "shoot first" when the Dark Planet manifests), but still doesn't leak as much "evil" as Zorg does despite being right in the Dark Planet's presence. As for what it _really_ was, they used Hershey's chocolate syrup to create that effect. 😉 "What's on his head?" (referring to Zorg). Well, you'll notice that he's lost a chunk of hair, has a scar near his right eye, and walks with a distinct limp and clacking noise, which suggests a leg brace or a prosthetic limb. My personal theory is a weapons malfunction that left shrapnel in his leg and head. The plastic is there to protect a damaged skull. (I could be wrong. Neither the script nor the novelization give the real reason for the plastic.) I'm surprised nobody's asked what Korben meant when he said "I am a meat popsicle". That means that he's recently awakened from being cryogenically frozen for so long, that his physical age does not match his chronological age. (So the police know Korben is supposed to be 35 years old. By telling them he's a meat popsicle, they might think he's too old to be Korben Dallas, because chronologically he wouldn't be 35 years old anymore.)
The Resident evil movies with milia jov i think are good movies. Not great but good , also her resident evil movies have grossed over 1 billion, so they cant be horribe or bad to do that feat.
Sam, I don’t play video games so can’t compare Resident Evil, but you should definitely watch at least the first two. The other ones are ok but not essential watches. I really think you would have fun with them. Milla so good in this basically not having a bunch of dialogue and just using pure expression. She also has a small part in Dazed And Confused. A really fun high school genre set in the 70’s. Has a bunch of lesser known actors in which a couple went on to become huge stars. As someone who grew up in the 70’s I can say it’s pretty accurate. You could almost call it a stoner comedy, but it’s more of a glimpse in time.
Exactly. The aesthetics are picked straight from the French comic master Jean-Claude Mezieres of Valerian and Laureline comic book series fame. I've heard George Lucas still hasn't settled that check for the things he "borrowed" in Star Wars😉 Well, too late. JC Mezieres died in 2022.
There's actually a lot of content in this movie borrowed from The Incal graphic novel (Jodorowsky & Moebius), story, designs, etc. And The Incal itself is based on the work done previously by Jodorowsky and Moebius for their Dune film in the 70s.
This is one of my favorite Bruce Willis movies. Mila Jovovich did an outstanding job as the devine creation, Leeloo. My favorite character was Ruby Rhod played by Chris Tucker. 😊😅
Ive never understood the black stuff that runs down their heads ???? Also i dont you calling the movie goofy is accurate . You make it sound bad calling it that ??????
I know I'm in the minority, but I hate this film. Way too over-the-top. I saw it in the theater with my buddy and five minutes in he said, "If the fifth element is love, I'm gonna puke." I love bad movies... Robot Holocaust, Troll 2, Mutant Hunt, etc., but this one is just awful. I think my bias stems from it being promoted as the "next Star Wars". I'd watch the holiday special before this... The opera singer was awesome, though
"There's Gary Oldman!"
"What's on his head?"
Fashion!
The "bad evil man" on the bottle is Dionysos, god of wine in Greek mythology.
They weren;t cloning a mondochiwan, the fifth element was the/in the totem/statue in the center of the stones, and it was a piece of that they found

They recreated her as she was. She always looked human, but she was in that sarcophagus. Then it looked like she was in a suit of the aliens’ armor.
38:47 So random, but I love the scream and crash sound when Chris Tucker's character knocks the woman through the side door.
The Asian soldier guy in this movie used to go to a Starbucks regularly where my wife used to work and she told me he used to tell everyone all the time when he was there that he's a huge movie star that was in the fifth element with bruce willis... the funniest part is he has no dialogue in this movie lol

Jean Paul Gaultier did the costume design for the movie.
19:54 you both had me dying from laughter lol
This one is fun to see again and again. And. . .again. 😊

Heavy Metal (1981) vs Fifth Element (1997) comparison video is worth a watch.
Best part of the movie it doesn't explain things

Yeah they just resuscitated her, that’s why she was flailing around and stuff.
Everyone gets lost when the military people survive the freezer while "they" reconstructed Leloo from a hand.

RIP Luke Perry.
From what I understand, the "blood from the head" effect was chocolate syrup.
This movie is so freaking fun and a wild ride. Chris Tucker stole the show.

I recommend you another movie directed by *Luc Besson*
🔥 *Léon: The Professional* (1994) 🔥
_Jean Reno , Natalie Portman & Gary Oldman_
BONUS TRACK
*La Femme Nikita* (1990)
_Anne Parillaud & Jean Reno_
Directed by *Luc Besson*
,
Be warned Leon: The Professional has some controversy attached to it...
@@r.n.8337 The controversy is only for people who don't understand the characters in the movie.
Leon's (Jean Reno's) character is based on Reno's character in Nikita.
read up on all the behind-the-scenes drama; almost as gripping as this movie :D
i think the hotel detect the word BOMB
the first resident evil is great, it compares to 28 days/weeks later
Great classic. Enjoy. 🍻
My kids heard AZIZ LIGHT! since before they could walk. They were in their 20s before they figured out where it came from. They still say it.
Aziz, LIGHT!
Aziz, light. -||||- |||
One of the great sci fi satires ;-) Mila is a great Joan of Arc. So not her first gig as messiah. Catch a cab the hard way!
Whoever told you not to watch Resident Evil movies are goofy. WATCH THEM!
At least the first two, and _maybe_ the third. (After the first two, IMO, they started to suffer from "sequelitis".)
My literal favorite movie lol
Go!
Lelu and the stones were created for the protection of earth. Hence Lelu is human but perfected. There is a theory that those "robots" were the creators of the human race as well.
I would love to see you both react to edge of tomorrow it's such a great movie.
All the costumes were made by Jean Paul Gaultier
Omg I clicked this so fast. This is one of my favorite movies of all time
Multipass!
What, have you guys never seen any movies ever????

Is it really that elaborate though? I always just accepted that it's blood with a special effect that's not that great.
The Resident evil movies with milia jov i think are good movies. Not great but good , also her resident evil movies have grossed over 1 billion, so they cant be horribe or bad to do that feat.
Criticism of Jean Paul Gaultier for fashion.
My goodness.

Great reaction Sam and Tristan This movie is so much fun. Big thumbs up A Bruce Willis classic
I maybe have misjudged you guys. Pleasure to watch your reactions.
Not to give a spoiler, but the fifth element is not 'supreme being'.
This is a French comic book in movie form.

That flashing "on/off" with the video will get you nowhere. It's a pain to watch.
