Agreed. I think all the attention that groups like Nine Inch Nails and Tool got, kind of took away from Stabbing Westward. Don't get me wrong, I love those bands too, but it just seemed SW never got all the love they truly deserved.
love this song when i was in high school, til now it's still one of my all time favorite song. music of the 90's i think was the best....can't compare it to music nowadays
Stabbing Westward (Wither, Blister, Burn + Peel), Nine Inch Nails (The Downward Spiral - Pretty Hate Machine - Broken), Candlebox (Candlebox), Smashing Pumpkins (Siamese Dream - Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness), Type O Negative (October Rust - Bloody Kisses), White Zombie (Astrocreep 2000), Deadsy (Commencement - Deadsy), Fear Factory (Obsolete - Demanufacture), Orgy (Candyass), Clan of Xymox (Creatures), Korn (Korn - Life Is Peachy), Ministry (Psalm 69), London After Midnight (Psycho Magnet) ... along with assorted David Bowie, The Cure, and Metallica ... this was my adolescence in the 90s
I loved these guys so hard when I was a kid. I still enjoy their music just as much, but I just got back into listening to them recently. I saw them with Placebo in April 1999, and it was one of the best musical experiences of my life. They never got the attention they deserved, but the people who knew about them really "got" them. They opened with a version of "Slipping Away" with an extended synth intro and it was freaking incredible. A very unique fusion of electronics and an actual band. If you like that sort of thing, the shortlived band Thenewno2 are a similar fusion, with a less hard aesthetic. This band had everything: powerful drums, a one-of-a-kind round yet "sproingy" bass sound, unbelievable layers from synths and samplers, raucous guitars, and one of the most amazing voices I've ever heard. I don't always think the tone of the lyrics is something I identify with now, but I sure did at 14. Really needed these guys then, and all these years later I can appreciate it on even more levels. Great, great band.
I saw their last show ever in Toronto in a small venue - it was incredible. I got to meet Chris and was pretty much front row the entire show. I miss Stabbing Westward to this day, wishing they'd get back together.
""and agendas" Considering how much people bash on people HAVING an agenda at all I so agree. That rant always annoyed me. Like having one is a bad thing?
The Dreaming has basically become the continuation of SW. Walter Flakus is back in full-time, and their one time drummer Johnny Haro is in the band too.
Early 90's, Sunday nights at midnight watching 120 minutes when MTV was about music. Great memories of my youth. Flipping loved that show.. Awesome performance. Love this band. Darkest Days is still one of my favorite albums. I'll always be a tortured soul.
I met chris at a Dreaming show in Houston December 3rd. He's a great down to earth guy and would answer any question I asked him about the bands he's been in. They played this song for the first time at that show. Spread the word.
I saw them in 99, and it was to this day one of the best concerts I've ever seen! I had a totally sober transcendental experience that night thanks to their music. Nobody who hasn't seen them could possibly understand, so I'm really grateful you know what I'm talking about. Truly a shame they never caught on more. The people who know, however, absolutely love them.
They never got the proper recognition, they played tf out of save yourself and have been underrated since the 90s. Glad people know about them but we need bigger views yk
I was very lucky to see one of their last concerts in a small-hall tour in Indy in early February 2002. Love their music and miss them sorely! Although Chris has moved on to The Dreaming, the anger/hate/apathy is missing from the new stuff.
This is back when MTV was still about the music and not Hiedi Montag and Snooki. Where for art though 120 Minutes and Liquid Television?! I also really miss Stabbing Westward. Awesome Band! At least we still have S.W. Frontman Chris Hall's new band....The Dreaming! Also an awesome band!
They opened for KISS on the first reunion tour. I was familiar with Stabbing Westward, I had just bought WBB&P. But they really surprised me. Their set was perfect!! And they were LOUD! Louder than KISS.
word, play this song on some radio station, and those ignorant fucks in middle/high schools in virtually every city would think this stuff was the new cool rock band, bummed out i lost my gravity kills eons ago, ahhh the 90s, no god damn cellphones,
Awesome video. Becoming a fan of Stabbing Westward. I listen to their music on a sort of regular basis, but I cannot tolerate their 3rd album. Although, their first 2 albums are the only ones that appeal to me, considering that there was a musical shift for the 3rd album.
+NatuRALly8GiftED910 I thought the same thing at first listen. Oddly enough, the third album has actually became my favorite. Just saying, you might want to give it a chance to grow on you because if you like SW, it really does.
Ok. I will listen to it a few more times and see what happens. There are a couple of songs I like on that album but I don't like it in its entirety. The first two I like alot, front to back but I'll check it out. Thanks.
@DjJtown Actually, Headbanger's Ball is back on the air. It's in a new format though. It kind of lost it's soul along the way. It comes on at like 2:00 A.M. Sunday Morning. MTV just doesn't care about music anymore!
@Rcinch1 You forgot to add Headbangers Ball. There isn't anyplace for new bands to get their spotlight anymore; except for TH-cam, but it's hard to find unsigned good bands this way. Yeah, MTV isn't that anymore. I think it stands for Moronic TV!!
Man can we turn back time from 2021 to 90s!! Back when music was actually good!!! I'm 45yo and music in 2021 SUX!!!
Stabbing Westward just put out a new album recently (Chasing Ghosts). It's awesome!
severely underrated band!
What's mind-boggling is they just released a new album called Chasing Ghosts and it's actually really good. It resembles their old sound.
I remember seeing this back in the day... oh, how I miss the days when MTV actually played music....
Very underrated band. That riff starting at 2:01 is one of the greatest riffs I’ve ever heard. Fantastic song.
yes they was , thought they had the right riffs at the right time but never blew up like some
Remember when MTV actually played music all the time.
We encouraged them. Ren and Stempy here, Monty Python there...But the 80s MTV format wouldn't have outlived the on-demand/Internet age.
In 92, in 7th Grade my best friend Matt and I where head banging to Metallica Enter Sandman. It started going downhill really fast after that.
No 😆
Incredible. Terribly underrated band.
Agreed. I think all the attention that groups like Nine Inch Nails and Tool got, kind of took away from Stabbing Westward. Don't get me wrong, I love those bands too, but it just seemed SW never got all the love they truly deserved.
One of my favorite songs 🎉

You just mentioned pretty much my experience in the mid to late 90s as a teenager.
I loved these guys so hard when I was a kid. I still enjoy their music just as much, but I just got back into listening to them recently. I saw them with Placebo in April 1999, and it was one of the best musical experiences of my life. They never got the attention they deserved, but the people who knew about them really "got" them. Great, great band.
I saw them in 1995.
God Lives Under Water opened.
Seen Placebo at small bar also in 07
I saw their last show ever in Toronto in a small venue - it was incredible. I got to meet Chris and was pretty much front row the entire show. I miss Stabbing Westward to this day, wishing they'd get back together.

How did I miss this group back then? Just bought the mini album off - rock it out boys! I love this stuff!
Good stuff...I got the goosebumps!!!! ❤️
My all time favorite band, along with Gravity Kills
Both really great bands! So glad I had parents that had me young for all of the awesome 90s music I listened to growing up
Love this band. They should've been a lot bigger with their music and talent, and the crap that got popular due to TRL and agendas.
""and agendas" Considering how much people bash on people HAVING an agenda at all I so agree. That rant always annoyed me. Like having one is a bad thing?
very underrated band, excellent talented and timeless music. Too bad they are no more.
just got back from their 30 yr reunion concert in chicago. theyre timeless. Now he fronts The Dreaming. amazing band if you havent heard.
The Dreaming has basically become the continuation of SW. Walter Flakus is back in full-time, and their one time drummer Johnny Haro is in the band too.
Jaymon1203213 it just still doesn't feel the same, when you get that feeling while listening to stabbing westward. I still miss them.
Very very true
They're back. Recording new material. Check out the TH-cam channel and their website.
LOL SO 90's! This is great!
Still an absolute banger ask that years later
Early 90's, Sunday nights at midnight watching 120 minutes when MTV was about music. Great memories of my youth. Flipping loved that show.. Awesome performance. Love this band. Darkest Days is still one of my favorite albums. I'll always be a tortured soul.
When this song hit, it hit hard! And than it quietly faded away a vanished.
yeah fo real. I've been waitin for this forever. This band was def underrated.
Another iconic track that stands time.
SW kicked so much ass! Thanks for the music.
Kick ass !!! Gets me going !
I met chris at a Dreaming show in Houston December 3rd. He's a great down to earth guy and would answer any question I asked him about the bands he's been in. They played this song for the first time at that show. Spread the word.
Awesome freakn song!!! Stabbing westward is still one of my favorite bands
Ein Hammer Stück von den Jungs.Meine Kollegen und ich hätten unbedingt mal live zu Stabbing Westward abgerockt!!!

THIS TUNE ROCKS!!!.. ILOVE IT!!...
Such an incredible song and an amazing band
Lovely!
How did I never know about this band. I'm sure it's due to growing up in Atlanta all my life. All there stuff is good sounding to this day.
even more powerful live!
They are awesome. I saw them in 1999 opening for Depeche Mode.
Thanx to DM

Thanks for posting this! I have this on VHS someplace...Love these guys
2020. Master piece
god i miss these guys
QUE FUERZA QUE TIENE ESTA BANDA ES GENIAL ✌
I saw them at The Odeon in 1996- they were amazing. I thought they'd blow up like Korn, Manson, NIN did after i saw them at that bar.
Thank-you for sharing this. Great performance. Would be nice to see some live footage performing in front of an audience back during this time period.
I saw these guys in san francsico back in '01, killer show, they opened with this song and ended with shame. very loud.

BJB 2020 brodelski
They never got the proper recognition, they played tf out of save yourself and have been underrated since the 90s. Glad people know about them but we need bigger views yk
This is REALLY good.
Chris actually messes up the lyrics at 3:32 as do I every time I do karaoke to this song hahaha Love the new album btw 😁🥰🥰🥰
I was very lucky to see one of their last concerts in a small-hall tour in Indy in early February 2002. Love their music and miss them sorely! Although Chris has moved on to The Dreaming, the anger/hate/apathy is missing from the new stuff.
@pallyeleana me too i miss the 90s being a kid life was so much better :)
THIS WAS WHEN MTV WAS THE SHIT
excelent song!!!!!
Also an awesome band!
pretty amazing
This one's for Jerry Rauch what the funky happen man
I judge bands by their sound... but they get extra points for having such sexy members as these guys did! :D Sadly I never got to see them live ;/
Crowd surfing with Jerry Rauch
They opened for KISS on the first reunion tour. I was familiar with Stabbing Westward, I had just bought WBB&P. But they really surprised me. Their set was perfect!! And they were LOUD! Louder than KISS.
Awesome
pretty sick
Sounds much better than the studio version.
They opened for Depeche Mode back in the late 90s

You all are a bunch of casuals. Their self-titled album is their 4th album....
@DjJtown Actually, Headbanger's Ball is back on the air.
It's in a new format though.
It kind of lost it's soul along the way.
It comes on at like 2:00 A.M. Sunday Morning.
MTV just doesn't care about music anymore!
Amazing, thanks for posting theres so few of them live on youtube (1 other!) do you have anymore, like anything from darkest days?? :)
AGUANTE STABBING WESTWARD!!
Effie bad ass

I want a clone of the singer... I want to be the next girl that makes him write a wicked album *giggles*
Smallville :)
Yes. I agree they need ta get back together
Chris is still around, He sings for The Dreaming now.
I miss this band..
I hear Christopher created a new band called "The Dreaming"
I wonder if it's any good..
wow, this is the first live video of them before they changed their music, i really dont like the later stuff.
money talks they will get back together .
Where can I get a normal Mpg of this video?
fuckin right on!!!!!!!!!!!!!
great band. to bad most of the good industrial rock has died. these guys and gravity kills had the some of the best tunes.
Testify!!!
This video is not 120 minutes I am confused.
@pallyeleana omgawd ya they are great =D
Don't expect a reunion tour anytime soon, or at all. Chris's main focus now and for the future is The Dreaming, so. SW is pretty much behind him now.
I just heard that there will be a new Stabbing Westward album soon!
@@ryangossett8211 It was released yesterday, lol. It's a great album 👍
lmao so true
love stabbing westward wish they would put out a new one
Believe Jesus
Yea. Electronic tinges have a way of causing that illusion.
i remember when metallica did the load thing and gave all thier instruments to that guy
That sounds almost identical to the recording.
Call me Jerry it's important
Great song
always loved this band and by the way am i the only one that thinks these guys all look like vampires?
