Lyrics:
You make it hard to breathe
It's as if I'm suffocating
And when you're next to me
I can feel your heartbeat through my skin
It makes me sad to think
This all could be for nothing
I wish there was a way
For you to see inside of me
I've never felt this way
About anyone or anything
Tell me
What do I have to do to make you happy?
What do I have to do to make you understand?
What do I have to do to make you want me?
And, if I can't make you want me
What do I have to do? - เพลง
I am so very, very lucky to have graduated in '00. A little kid in the 80s and coming up in the 90s?? I couldn't have asked for better music ever.
I was born in 93 and I really am jealous of people who got to come up in the 80s and 90s. If I could choose any year to be born in I think I would just do 1970, because 10-20 in the 80s and 20-30 in the 90s fuck yes
Sadly I have this nostalgia from an era I barely remember
@@Captain_Insano_nomercy class of '95 right here. It was indeed a great time for music. The soundtrack for my entire high school years was Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam, Sponge, Stabbing Westward, etc etc.
@@benseabolt1939 ahhh that pains me. I was born just too late to see the peak of America
Graduated 2004…this shit is definitely a throwback. Feels like I opened a time capsule lol
106.3 the edge, '00
Stabbing Westward is one of the bands that truly define the 1990s for me.
Criminally underrated
so much power. gravity kills as well. once nirvana died, these guys filled every void
wow...
Without a doubt! i was 13 when they came out in '94 and thought they were brilliant after buying Ungod !! it was nice to see them have a good run through the 90's ! This album and Darker Days started getting some shine and the music was undeniable !! Still underrated by a Million miles but it was nice to see some others in my generation digging them and getting into their music !!
My husband and I are only like 6 years apart, but they Define my teen years and still I love them- and my husband didn't even know a single song from them.... how?!
Still giving these guys love in 2020. Such an underrated band of the 90s
2020 represent
Saw them multiple times in the 90s, met chris hall, swooned 🤩
Agreed🤙
Shit yes. SW still rules.
There back mother******s!
...one of the most highly underrated bands ever
Agreed!
Right?? These guys can wail!!
Agreed
Are they? I liked this song so much when i was a teen i played it all night when I bought the album but ive never heard any other songs by them that i remember
So stupid that people equate popularity with respect....SW received acceptance among their peers....
'Wither, blister, burn and peel' is still one of my most favorite albums. There is not a single song I would skip, when that disc was playing in my after market stereo.
It terribly unfortunate that "stabbing westward" was so incredibly overlooked in the 90s.
YES!!!!
I used to play it for everyone I knew. I remember when this video was all over MTV but they never seemed to catch on.
Amen
A lot of people compare they with Nine Inch Nails, but I think that SW is much better.
@@al_zera Stabbing Westward is great but better than NIN, please put the fuking crack pipe down!!!!
This song was used perfectly in an episode of Smallsville.
Yea it was. 2 years late. But you still right lol.
True
That swerve at the end.... one of the most perfect things in storytelling ever. To forget about you.....
Aah I remember in the early days of the internet, searching for all of these great bands, and feeling exhilarated when I'd find a music video for any song. Now with YT I'm finding that I only came across a tiny percentage of these bands' music videos back in the day. I spent hundreds of hours searching for videos just like this. Good old days =)
Yessssssssss!
Yep. I remember being excited as heck finding rare gems from my favorite bands on Napster lol. Can also remember a coworker getting a cease and desist letter from Metallica lol.
Gooood TImes for sure.
Agree. get a stage name 😆 🤣 😂
This whole CD made me think that someone had a BAD, PAINFUL break up.
He did lol.
Dean T this entire album is a messy glorious tribute to obsessive love and codependency.
probably why he's stabbing westward
Every CD they made...
I think that the vast majority of Stabbing Westward songs were about love, told through an ugly obsessive lense
2024 gang? 🤘😝 Will never NOT love this song!
Long live the 90s!
Here in 2024.. I miss 90's Alternative
I remember first hearing this song in 1996 on 94.9 WZTA in Miami, FL. So before the internet we had the radio and that was back when we still had an active rock station. This band was really underrated.
Miami 💓 wshe's only rock n roll
I won to see a concert with either them or cheap trick. Chose Stabbing Westward. Great show. Wish they still toured down here. I would def buy a seat for me and all my fam.
@@jefe311 In the early and mid 2000s we had Ozzfest and Vans Warped Tour in Miami at Bayfront Park. That stopped around 2008 when the condos moved in.
I was at that concert it was raining and the singer was pissed off that is electronics were getting wet they didn't sound very good live. I believe Stone Temple Pilot played in the singer was sick probably heroin. Was it Bayfront Center
Good guys always finish last, stationary seat.
Stabbing Westward, Orgy, and Gravity Kills. Tell me that wouldn't be a helluva 90s industrial rock show.
OH YES!!!!....
Hell yeah!
Seriously. Throw in NIN, Skinny Puppy and Ministry and I could die happy
Put Marilyn Manson in there as well
@@acca5512 no
I love this freaking song, takes me back to 1996 and 7th grade 🤘
Maaaaaaaaan,it's been almost 20 years since I last heard this when I was a sophomore in High School in '95. Awesome decade to grow up in!!! Lol.
the decade of great rock. which we miss.
Marc Amico the early 2000s were better. I think i was 19 in 1999 so im not sure if i was old enough to appreciate it.
I was in about 7th or 8th grade when the song came out, but also recently had someone remind me of the song and revisited it. Now I'm trying to remember the name of a similar band that had a sort of industrial/techno feel but the guys played acoustic guitars as well. Killing me....
IsThisTheKrustyKrab? No way early 2000s was the best. I think maybe your too old.
IsThisTheKrustyKrab? Early 2000s was so cool hot girls everywhere just walking the streets too. Easy to meet. The 90s sucked terribly. Unless you had ecstasy.
how does this not have millions of views?
+Roy Hemion Because it's a shitty song by a Nine Inch Nails rip-off
+Scrotey McBoogerballs so why did you listen to it?
You have listen to something first to determine it's shit. Duh.
+Scrotey McBoogerballs. So how did you know stabbing westward is a nine inch nail ripoff? Don't tell you're just basing that off of one song.
Let's see, very similar thrashy guitar tone; listen to that synth tone (and then listen to the synth line at the end of "Terrible Lie" by NIN); very angsty vocal minus any particularly interesting observations lyrically (not that Trent Reznor was groundbreaking lyrically, but the dude didn't give a fuck when it came to making you feel a particular line).
LOL i keep clicking on all these videos, man i miss the 90's
john doe same
Rancid 1 dude im doing that in 2018 haha
I think we all do
With you after all these years
So do i.. today's music doesn't even come close to the 90s. Its all generic, there is no authenticity anymore
Wishing Christopher a speedy recovery from throat cancer !! You will be back better than ever 🎸
OMG
Prayers!
I took my son and his friends to see this band in Ft Lauderdale about 18 years ago.
Was that when they came out on stage and asked everyone not to throw mud on stage? Then when they came out everyone stopped for a second and then started throwing mud at them? Zeta Fest!
That's what's up!
I took my son to his 1rst concert....Black Sabbath. Now thats something to talk about
. Not many kids in thier mid to late 20's can claim that. Shit, for that matter..Im in my late 50's and don't know anyone who seen Sabbath for a first . Mine was Yes in 1976 at the Philadelphia Spectrum.
Ok
At the The chili pepper?
This whole cd is amazing. Great band, great memories. What a unique sound they had.
The end of that CD would really test the speakers.
My band “GOTHIC SACRAMENT” was supposed to go on tour w/ these guys… We were a local band in the early 90s They just got a record deal a tour.
Agreed !
The 90' was such a great time for rock music
The best Jerry. The best 😊
Song is still epic...What a great band, wish I could have seen them live in their heyday.
At least i can say i was raised in the best music era ever.....
i think every era says that though...people born in the sixties think the same thing
The 60's had great music, some of the best ever. It can't be argued, and the same can be said of the 70's. The 90's also had huge movements in music history. There are historically significant bands in all of those decades. No doubt. The difference is, the 90's had so much more to offer. There is no comparison really, the decade was a vast ocean of great music across so many genres. The immense catalog of great music in the 90's dwarfs the 60's, 70's and can only really be challenged by the 80's and even then, the 90's are like the Energizer Bunny and the list just keeps going and going and going.. I'm still discovering bands from the 90's that I hadn't heard of.
Same!
Second best after the 60s
hell yea
20 yrs on and this song is still amazing. Timeless.
This song and video is a genuine work of art.
Yes 9 inch nails is amazig and timeless.
2022 still rocking ..🔥🔥
This song still kicks ass all these decades later. I remember seeing them in concert in the 90's. This song was hitting so hard. 💚 it
I wish this band would make a come back.
You should check out the stuff that Christopher Hall with The Dreaming.
I wish this genre would make a comeback, Gravity Kills used to be awesome too.
stabbing westward had a reunion tour last year
They are touring right now and working on new music as Stabbing Westward =) Follow them on Facebook!!!!!!
They are!
who else would crank the radio up really loud when this came on? Long live 90s rock alternative!!
This band has talent oozing out of every song
I spent thirty minutes searching my brain, playing bits and pieces of lyrics until I finally put the sentence together, just trying to remember the band name. Finally found it!! (Edit: I have both albums and cannot find my CDs!)
awesome song, 1 of my favorites, i got thrown out their show when i was 14-16? solid show
This will always be one of my favorite songs from Stabbing Westward
Damn ... how can you not enjoy this one... even in the later years of life it makes you feel like a coming of age feeling.. all brand new
Deeply relating to Stabbing Westwards's songs always and forever.
@Anna M. I've just been in that situation
Dont ask tell the story then font embark in action that seizes u from entertainment voice of the thought!! Good luck
It was for the world to be able to be a new!!
I hope everyone is ok and feeling great. Much love to everyone have a wonderful day!
My favourite song through high school. :) still love it.
Same here. Brings me back
hell yeah me too
rachel ragush same
Yes I love this song so much. Infinity and beyond.
Me too
i watch this video once a day and probably will never stop...theres nothing like this out there..lyrically and music wise..its just genius....unlike the music now.
this been stuck in my head since the beginning of the day and it feels good to finally hear it ahh
I had the same thought today.
kaitlyn zuniga we heard you Ms.Z this BUD IS FOR YOU , thanks for listening ☺
cool I use this
kaitlyn zuniga Oh shit, Ms Zunga *when we dropped this song at 12 : 00 PM Westcoast time we mentioned you Babe, im about to drop this song, looking at the messages you poped up first , Hello
kaitlyn zuniga
Ms Zuniga
Still Around ???
Hello & & HOWDY
one of the best industrial songs ever
Id be hard pressed to call this industrial. It has industrial elements to it, but I cant say its an industrial tune. Its still a solid tune though.
Theenragedone they fell under industrial rock an back in the 90's it was "slightly" different from todays industrial rock. but they broke up in 2001.
Neeko I know all about the band. I 've followed them since the release of Ungod.
ahh ungod..such a good album. well cheers m8
Neeko I love that record.
the 90s music is the best ever. love it!
fuck yea
I remember listening to this song on repeat for 12 hours while playing WoW like 15 years ago.
I loved this song since I was 15 years old n now I’m 42 it still sounds good n always will
2024 I still love this song
Flashbacks to watching Dream Time on MTV ay 4 a.m
Good times..
I remember first hearing Stabbing Westward back in 8th grade when my late best friend introduced me to them back in '95 or '96, holy crap I feel old. Wish I got to see them live before they broke up, still own their albums.
I think they reunited.
Jesus, I forgot about this band. I loved everytime I could just jam to this CD to forget about life for a moment
The song that got me into the band was perfectly timed. I was having a bumpy road in my marriage and this song was my salvation. As a matter of fact, it helped us get back together and we saw SW in concert!
The intensity and magnificence in this somber yet unique What Do I Have To Do by Stabbing Westward is musically unparalleled. In the case of multiple other music listeners I'm fortunate to have originally heard this song in the 90s via radio and I confess this song resurfaced on my mind around the 2018 Andor 2019 timeframe when I kept hearing it on one of my shuffled mode playlists a healthy amount of times
This song has always touched such depths inside me. Can’t explain...love you sir.
Always had that nine-inch-nails feel but unique in their own way.
Their stuff had a darkness and anger to it but not over the top.....
Shoot, I think that large sounding keyboard at the very end was from a NIN song. Can’t place it though
I agree! Just my own opinion, but I've always thought Stabbing Westward was better. I know that's an unpopular opinion, but I always thought this was a perfect album in this sub-genre and more complete than Trent Reznor's projects. Of course, I still love Trent Reznor.
@@andrew182matches NIN is good but a bit over the top. In terms of sheer industrial head-pounding, I'll go with Machines of Loving Grace.
@@andrew182matches Totally agree! SW had more variety to their music (still love NIN though).
Its 2023 and still gets me wildn! 😎
God this song is so nostalgic that part on the keyboard right after an if I can't make you want me than tell me tell me....... Keyboard riff gives me chills every time
I also get that same feeling?!? True Artists
Great band. This is my type of music. What happened to great music?
It stopped being popular.
You stopped listening to it?
Mark Bishop you know what's even more confusing? This song was played on the radio, it even charted on Modern Rock charts, but Stabbing Westward never had a platinum album, at all, and then look at the crap that does have platinum albums
Mark Bishop make it and it will come back! It only dies if you let it. 😎
People stopped paying for great music. So now there is a vast ocean of underground and indie music, which you can listen to for free online anytime, but you won't have a lot of people to share the experience with. The well-known and popular music is extremely commercialized and over-produced, much of it is essentially pornography or junk food getting recycled over and over.
Class of 96…just had a 25 1/2 year reunion (Covid paused the normal interval last summer)….they played this and the good memories came back.
One of my favorite songs, Masterpiece 2023!
Preach!
So who's here in 2021? Totally dig this tune.
Probably me. One of my high school music. 90's industrial vibe
Me. ❤❤
@@erzabethmoongypsyofmascu ditto. I dig your musical taste.
@elibutton Thank you. You have good musical taste as well.
Me... I really miss the 90’s
I'm so happy and moved for remembering this band that I met in the mid 90's . I loved them and seeing them after 25 years still brings tears to my eyes
SW ruled 1996 and IS THE 90s defined
RIP Emma Rawlins you will not be forgotten.
Thank you Smallville for introducing me to this awesome band!
These guys are amazing I live the 90s every day otherwise 2021 would suck hahaha Ryt on
Down the 90s rabbit hole.
Blast from the past. Man, this takes me back.
Damn I love this band's music. And I'm bearing down on 50.
it's a contrast to all the comments about being in high school when this was released. no nostalgia here.
TrailBusterBrute1 Good job on the comment! I am one that grew up on this.
TrailBusterBrute1 46 here.
Well when it came out you werent up there buddy. Lol I'm 36 and this was my high school shit. 😂
TrailBusterBrute1 me too
huge hit in the 90's. Took me forever to find this song.
played constantly on the radio... along with oasis, republica, gravity kills etc
I remember playing this on my old system in my car, that intro got those 12” kicker comps jumping! 😎👍
I just was napping, and in my dream this song was playing. I immediately went here to find the video. Awesome song.
This song is about to get a grump bump...
Dana Porter Lol. I forgot about this song completely until Danny mentioned it!
The 90s rocked this was one of those rockers playing now.
Havent heard this in years! I used to have this❤
I grew up at the right time during the 90’s (Alternative, Goth, and Heavy Metal) Jr High, High School , and College.
Lex Luthor, Lionel Luthor. Most amazing TV family to grace the airwaves. The actors were superb, and the snatches of this song that played with Lionel Luthor's first appearance were the most accurate description of their relationship of father and son.
I agree 100%. But I thought Lionel appeared in the pilot and this song was the perfect opening to the last episode of season 1, Tempest. You are right though, it portrayed their relationship perfectly.
I think this was my favorite song all through the 90's...so much meaning...so many memories lol
I was obsessed with them in the 90’s, I was young like 13 or 14. But back then you could look at the addresses on the CD’s, and actually write to them . I wrote Stabbing Westward, they are the only band out of probably the 10 or 12 I wrote to that sent me an autograph poster and a bunch of other things. They were the only one that appreciated, a fan took time out of their day to write them and just tell them how amazing they are. They weren’t like other bands, they really did appreciate their audience.
Almost 30 years later and this song still slaps.
I remember working at Taco Bell back in ‘95 , this song would come on all of the time.
I'll never forget the time my friends and I saw these guys live in Lawrence, KS, back in 1999. Awesome show! Too bad they went more pop on their last record and broke up afterwards.
Take me back to the 90’s...NOW!!!
I haven't listened to this band since IDK when. They got me thru my high school years. God bless the 90s lol.
Loved this intro and song so haunting and the lyrics are awesome. Almost blew out my speakers of my 84 Pontiac 9000. Jammed that cassette a lot!!
An underappreciated song. This was the 1st album given to me, ended up getting me into heavier music
Stabbing Westward the perfect band for breakups and unrequited love.
Yes, this got my into deftones, which got me into nin, which got me into type 0 which led to pantera, then killswitch and then 5fdp and bad omens then weird shit like babymetal lmao. That's my Ted Talk.
This song was played on tiktok and it unlocked a core memory. It was awesome! Came here to hear the full thing ❤
remember my old days when I was in high school , this is real music
If anyone wonder what kind of car that was used in the music video, it is a 1958 Chevrolet Bel Air!
Does no one feel the Nine Inch Nails music in this like I do? The guitars and the keyboards sound straight out of a mid 90s Nails track.
I"m a music lover, a big 70"s guy but this group from the 90's really rock with a unique sound and it's kinda daring. A thumbs up for me and I do agree they are underrated.
Decades of Love for this band...
This song is one of my favorites from the 90s. First time I heard it fell in love with it watching Masterminds. A great movie very underrated then in Smallville. Hearing this brings me back to the 90s, block buster video into early 2000s.....good memories. So much better times than now days. I also feel like this song defines the struggles of dating now days lol
Still the best song about unrequited love bar none.
Shame is a close second. lol
Oh yes!!!!
One of the best bands hands down and I'm the King of Metal I know
These have always been good jams
The last of good music WHO'S WITH ME????????!!!!!!!!!
they're making new good music under the name The Dreaming...it's awesome
You're alone, modern music isn't as good as this but it's still fantastic. Except modern mainstream music, that mostly sucks.
ok boomer
Beautiful and quite trippy video!! Awesome song!!!! Damn, the 90s had such great music!! Stabbing Westward we miss you and quality bands like yourselves!!!
Great song. I used to jam on this when I was in High-School. I hadn't heard the song in over 15 years and stumbled upon it the other day. Brings back good memories.
Listening to this while playing shareware Doom I picked up on 3 1/2 inch floppy disc from the flea market after getting home from high school will always be the definition of the 90s for me.
This and save yourself are fucking awesome songs I feel just forget to listen to them for long periods of time lol
god I love this band....its weird because I usually don't like this depressing type of music...its so fucking awesome tho
good songwriting is why
My prized possession of a song....I keep it close and only allow special people hear it......all MINE !
I legit miss the times when IndustriMetalPopLectro was a bonafide genre!
Used to pound the shit out of this song in my Tahoe while smoking big bowls of dirty seedy Mexico weed. Good times
sounds like sum good shit 2 me
Sexy Squidward I grew up on this
I miss commersh Mexican, fuck this $30 a gram bs! Now reg is as hard to find as kush was then - bs. So I slam ice now.

If the friend zone had a theme song, this is it!
He Who: Wait, what, you mean he's not singing it to his victim? "It puts the lotion on"...
The anger and frustration side of the Friendzone, and less on the oh woest me
They call it incel now.
Lmao
Lol yup
Reminds me of my youth... 1990s made the greatest rock stars EVER.
Manson needs to cover this song. Perfect for his voice and style.
