Rich, you are amazing. I love your videos so much because I never fail to learn from them and I find new and to me, exciting, ways to do something in this wonderful hobby that I had not realized before. This does leave me with one question though. I have recently purchased some extended rails for my Atomstack A20. They will extent the y axis to 850 mm. Short of building a custom cabinet (my current plans) do you know of anyone who makes an enclosure like this that would fit something like that size? @@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy How fun!! Just one small distinction, Rich. Graceland is in Memphis, but I live in Tupelo where Elvis was born and he lived here until he was about 13. If you ever decide to come here, please let me know and I'll give you the full "friends" tour of the birthplace...and we'll go visit Tupelo Hardware on Main Street and you can stand in the exact spot where Elvis stood when his mama bought him that guitar (even though he wanted a BB gun!). Graceland is quite a "touristy" spot, but Tupelo is just normal folks who welcome the Elvis lovers and we treat y'all like family. Once again, after I watched your video again after I bought the camera and enclosure, I am sending another pat on the back for actually showing us how things work rather than just telling us "go buy a $99 camera and good luck." Ha! High fives!
general camera question, sometimes I use honey comb bed (cutting) and sometimes just grid waste board engraving. How bad does this distance mess up camera, or do you have to res calibrate every time I switch? Thanks
I’ve ordered my Ortur LM3 direct from Ortur (Day 5 waiting for shipment notice - credit card charged) and my TwoTrees honeycomb just hit the door along with my Z-axis adjustment plate. So, I was going to ask “Why do I need a camera?” OK, you answered that. But, I will be using this within the confines of a very dusty woodworking shop and it must be stored below the workbench in a space about 14” tall or another < 8”. So, how do I fold this up to fit there?
@The Louisiana Hobby Guy, is there an added fire risk with this kind of grow tent enclosure? I've wanted to add one to my laser but was worried about it catching fire.
The inside coating (silver) is considered fire _resistant_. I saw another enclosure claiming that it can resist fire for 3 minutes. I would not count on any enclosure to be totally fireproof.
Can you setup a wifi camera like this too? I have a wifi camera above my cnc and would like to use this type of setup. My camera is an arenti wifi camera from amazon
In my experience, it'll only attach to Windows Camera devices. IF you want to have your laser across the room, a company named Silex has several USB/network/wifi device servers that work pretty well with Lightburn. I'm using one on my HL1060 mounted inside the chassis, with a small switch connected to the lasers network port, the Sliex box, and then using the network port on the side of the machine out to my home network, and my PC I run the laser with is about 6' away on the other side of a fireplace in my basement. I do get occasional disconnects with the silex, but I think it's my network connection at that machine, not the actual device. I know it's not the solution you're asking about (unless there's a USB to wifi cam driver of some sort). If your camera comes with driver software for windows that lets windows use it as a camera, then it may work, or you could try something called Altercam, but you may not get the quality out of it that you would with a proper USB camera like Lightburns sells, or the Comgrow from this video (the Silex would work great with the Comgrow unit, since it's standard USB 2.0).
Love your videos they have helped me soooo much. I went on the link to order the setup of the camera and arm and enclosure and the shipping came up 999 to Canada is there a glitch or something because I am definitely not paying that much.
Yeah, most companies don't ship to CA because of the customs fees via automated website software. Contact them directly at market@comgrow.com and ask if they can ship the deal package to you. They have excellent customer support.
I love your videos. I have a question regarding this setup or any diode setup for that fact. I do alot of craft shows and and I do quite a bit of personalization but I have to take orders and mail the products out. I would like to be able to take a laser with me to a show and be able to personalize pre-made items on the spot. I do all my work on my CO2 laser. Would this setup work for that? I feel I would need a camera to get an accurate engrave. I basically just need to engrave names or small sayings on ornaments and such.
Comgrow will be changing the window to laser safe based on my review. I would say after that it would be good for your purpose. But be warned Tim, I was only able to take a laser to one craft show with all of the ones I wanted to do over the years. Most municipalities will not let you operate a class 4 laser in public. And while the show promoter may allow it, you could wind up with a $5000 fine. You should check the local laws before doing something like this.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy Thanks for the fast reply. I have a bus that I carry all my stuff to the shows with and was planning on having th laser setup in the bus and my wife could manage the booth while I was out in the bus personalizing items. I would like to use AC Infinity CLOUDLINE S6 for ventilation. That should be plenty to keep from setting off the fire alarms in my basement, shouldn't it? Thanks once again for your videos.
Do you find the 90 degree off on the camera difficult to use? I have the camera from lightburn and mounted it sideways. Looking for an upgraded camera but not sure I would be happy with that.
Hi, Rich...sorry you are having 'flu' problems. Hope you really get to feeling better. I'm lucky so far...(knocking on wood.) Well, after 5 months of my laser (D1 10 watt) and have studied your videos on all modes, and camera line up..etc. The D1 will not do what you just did. I put graphic on the wood (basswood) and update camera , etc...and the graphic will not even come close to where it is put by way of camera. Maybe it's the D1, this model, and Lighburn just not communicating. I have had study time, practice time, and have ok cuts, etc....engraves...but with camera...nope. Wish it did...most of my test I've done by the way have been .23 on the lens, and alignment , no problems....till I actully lay down a graphic, it misses it by at least 4 to 5 mm. By the way, your grandson is an absolute doll...see you cheated...he helped you...us folks out here don't get that kind of professional help...LOL. Maybe a different laser???? Hope you feel better...
Well you know xTool has a lot of bugs in their software, but I don't think this is one. The camera is native to Lightburn, so the Gcode output should be fine on any laser Kat. If recalibrating doesn't do the trick, use the X Shift and Y shift on the Camera Control tab to get the position dialed in.
Really useful video Rich thank you. What a great set up that is. If the camera arm was mounted to a spoilboard could it be mounted on the side so that the orientation was correct? I don't suppose the UK counts as EU anymore for the raffle, I would love to have a chance to win that. Hope your soon feeling much better and thanks again for struggling with the flu to make this. (can you get a flu jab over there?)
I've been eyeing this setup for a couple weeks! Great timing, thanks for the insight and discount. Glad you mentioned the clear plastic. Fortunately, buying an orange piece wouldn't cost too much. Wonder how easy it is to attach it
Comgrow has emailed me about the video and they are working on a new window. I told them they also need to offer a retrofit velcro version to existing customers. We'll see what happens. In the meanwhile, don't use acrylic, use film: www.phillips-safety.com/product-category/laser-safety/laser-windows-and-sheeting/laser-window-film/
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy hey, if you are interested, I checked that link and asked what it would cost for a piece of the film. 1 meter by 1 meter is $575 +shipping. I don't think it's worth that!
I don't think so Steve. There's only about 6" of clearance when the door is closed, so that would be too close I think. The shortest distance according to Lightburn in 9".
You mentioned that you would prefer the camera mounted 90 degrees rotated, that can be set in windows settings under camera settings - rotate 90 left, 90 right or flip 180 degrees.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy Bugga, I wonder why I didn't get that problem, only thing I can think of is its the drivers for the graphics in the PC but that is probably extremely unlikely. Have to do some experimenting and see if I can work it out.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy thanks for the help. I should have been able to come up with something along those lines. I appreciate that you share what you know.👍

@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy As always SUPER from you. In fact, $22 was set to 0 to 1 and it works. Thank you and you and your loved ones have a nice time Greetings Franz
Yes, just barely! The inside measurements are 26x28". You would have to detach the touch pad though and lay it on top instead of on the front, or just remove it like I did.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy I think because fix my camera on plastic sad roof sometimes it vibrates or little bit moving due to havey wind or my cat jumping on it. Anyway I learned lots of things from your video and I have to tell you thanks for that. Regards
Ummmm you all might want to be careful.. I just purchased this amazing cover for my diode laser and it is awesome. But I was trying to use my camera today like you showed us and at first it was working great. Then I tried actually cutting something and now my camera seems to be fried. The image is in complete red and blue colors I think that the only thing that could have happened is that the intense reflection from the inside material on the cover somehow fried the camera lens? I'm not sure what happened but I think it has something to do with the intensity of the light reflecting into the camera...I plugged in a different camera just to see if something in the settings had changed the way it was receiving the image but it was beautiful so I'm not sure I want to take that risk again and I don't know how to protect a new camera.... When I get to pennies to get one LOL 😅
More likely it's a defective camera Tiffanny. Comgrow will gladly replace it under warranty. Light reflection won't damage a camera lens, but what you described is a sensor failure.
Yes, probably just a coincidence. The light doesn't affect the camera lens, or I would be burning them up like crazy with the fiber laser doing stainless!
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy hm, that's why I was thinking it was the reflection of the silver material inside of the enclosure. Because there's a lot of info about lasers being able to take out a camera LOL but I will definitely take that feedback into consideration thank you very much!

I would like to use AC Infinity CLOUDLINE S6 for ventilation. That should be plenty to keep from setting off the fire alarms in my basement, shouldn't it? Thanks once again for your videos.
Yes, Absolutely Tom! 👍
Hey Rich - any idea how long your discount code will be valid for this comgrow bundle?
Should be permanent Tom from my link. The page on their website is private.
Do you find the 90 degree off on the camera difficult to use? I have the camera from lightburn and mounted it sideways. Looking for an upgraded camera but not sure I would be happy with that.
Not at all Larry, this setup works great.
Good video Rich. Rest up now and get well. Cheers. Rob.
Thanks Chief!
Love your videos very helpful!
Glad you like them Rhonda!
Glad to see you back. Get some rest.
Trying to get moving Merrill! Rest is boring.
Saludos desde Argentina 👍
🙋♂️ Glad to see you!
Will the comgrow camera work with Fox alien laser reizer and light burn
Yes, it will work on any laser Robert.
Got my camera up and running on my k40 today and it’s about .9mm off when it burns something from where I place it, do you think that’s to much
No, but on the Camera Control tab, you can adjust the X Shift and Y Shift to dial it in and make it perfect Thomas.
Yes Malcolm, you could use the baseplate attachment and mount it to the side! Good idea!
What air box are you using please?
The large Comgrow enclosure Shelly. Click Show More for the link.
I've been eyeing this setup for a couple weeks! Great timing, thanks for the insight and discount. Glad you mentioned the clear plastic. Fortunately, buying an orange piece wouldn't cost too much. Wonder how easy it is to attach it
Glad it was helpful! You could probably just hot glue it on.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy jtech has a piece 12x24 at 1/8 inch thick. Would that cover it? Sorry for asking, but i couldnt find any dimensions on line.
Comgrow has emailed me about the video and they are working on a new window. I told them they also need to offer a retrofit velcro version to existing customers. We'll see what happens. In the meanwhile, don't use acrylic, use film:
www.phillips-safety.com/product-category/laser-safety/laser-windows-and-sheeting/laser-window-film/
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy awesome!
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy hey, if you are interested, I checked that link and asked what it would cost for a piece of the film. 1 meter by 1 meter is $575 +shipping. I don't think it's worth that!
Could this camera be mounted inside the cabinet of a K40 without the comgrow mount?
I don't think so Steve. There's only about 6" of clearance when the door is closed, so that would be too close I think. The shortest distance according to Lightburn in 9".
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy yeah, I thought so. thanks Rich
I'll probably give it a try though Steve.
You mentioned that you would prefer the camera mounted 90 degrees rotated, that can be set in windows settings under camera settings - rotate 90 left, 90 right or flip 180 degrees.
I'll try it but I don't think so Chris, unless you're using the Windows camera app.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy The setting should apply to any app used by windows, it worked on a generic USB camera I use with Lightburn.
The problem is, if I turn it and update the overlay, then the overlay will be sideways.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy Bugga, I wonder why I didn't get that problem, only thing I can think of is its the drivers for the graphics in the PC but that is probably extremely unlikely. Have to do some experimenting and see if I can work it out.
Thank you for share 👍
No problem 👍
Bought the Comgrow camera & Honycomb bed. Set up was easy on the camera so I thought....all I get is "Pattern not found"-tried everything..?
Did you have enough light? Use white paper?
Does this setup work with xtool D1 pro too?
Yep, it'll work with any diode laser Cynthia.
Do you have any thoughts on how to attach something like this to the Aufero Laser 2? The rounded edges on the frame are a problematic.
Yes, you could mount it to a waste board Andrew.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy thanks for the help. I should have been able to come up with something along those lines. I appreciate that you share what you know.👍
Hello, and greetings to Louisiana from Old Germany!
I have a Sovol SO-2. And the software Lightburn latest version. For more than 3 days now I've been trying to correct the error message.
ERROR: 5 the referencing cycle is not activated in your Grbl settings.
end stops available
Enable homing on startup in settings.
I don't know what to do next, I urgently need to laser something for my granddaughter.
Greetings Franz
Error 5 in Grbl means the Homing cycle is not enabled via settings. Enable Home on startup in your Device Settings.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy As always SUPER from you. In fact, $22 was set to 0 to 1 and it works. Thank you and you and your loved ones have a nice time Greetings Franz
Will this work on d1 pro with extensions?
Yes of course. It has D1 adapters, like I said in the video.
#10! hope you feel better!
Thank you!
Does the use of such a camera require the laser to have limit switches?
No.
Wish the window was the right color to block the 450nm laser light.
I should have waited to comment until the end.
Yeah, me too. But you know, I don't trust those plastic or acrylic windows anyway. I'll be likely covering the window.
THANKS
Wow! Thanks so much Kat! Truly appreciated!
Is that a laser enclosure? Or a play space for a 4 year old?
Dual purpose!! 🤪
does it fit the p20 atezr
Yes, just barely! The inside measurements are 26x28". You would have to detach the touch pad though and lay it on top instead of on the front, or just remove it like I did.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy thanks your videos are awesome learned alot and still learning from them
Funny that the window in the door is not orange filter the 450nm laser light??
No, it's a 3D printer cover. Orange or not, you still need to wear glasses.
I understand. It would be a nice update. Thanks and get well quickly, amigo. I commented before your video mentioned the same thing.
Camera function is little bit difficult it’s not accurate all the time but it’s very useful functionality seve lots of time and material
If calibrated correctly, it's 99+% accurate all the time. All of my cameras are within 0.5mm accuracy.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy So even though the camera was working before I cut anything? Its a web cam, I figured the reflective light got to it.
