So I’ve left this video up for fitting purposes only. The radio in the video is to be avoided. The display has been stunning, but now something loose in the internals that is broken, ruining the sound.
Im concerned it’s a fire hazard so it’s coming out.
I was all up for doing this to mine, I’ve got a real desire to try and wrap the surround in Alcantara as well.
Got to say tho, it looks like a right pain in the arse dismantling the dash etc 😂

I dont have anny plugs for the green connectors is that a problem😅

I loved your video Matty, thanks for making that. The only problem for me is, that my FN2 is a rare one with SatNav. My DVD Unit of the SatNav broke and can't even set the time by the buttons on the wheel, plus a delay to control the radio/climate control, when you start the car. There is also, no button on the (old) radio itself. The unit is in the glove box. Plus the extra Nav screen on (left)top of the dashboard. I bet the wiring is different and have to remove all from left to right of the dashboard. Ugh, lol, puzzles.
I have known them done in the satnav model cars, not sure if it’s the same one as yours, but what you basically have to do is replace the top screen with a non-satnav screen which is plug and play and then you need the shelf out of a non-satnav car which is also plug and play. Then an aftermarket stereo with the connects 2 lead Should all adapt it all and work like mine.

@@mrook9053 Right now I have 2 options. I have a spare DVD unit and the radio/cd unit of a non-satnav version, that has thé 'time' button. And that other screen and LCD-frame for a full tear down. See, how to get to the DVD-Unit is a question again, haha
@@Matty_Champwhite Missing your FN2 much? My friend from USA came over and been driving it a lot this weekend. So many compliments and smiles from people. The back-seat 'flaps' down, that sound. The FN2 is rare in the Netherlands. Have seen none yet in 1,5 years....
@@XRayXI I do miss it, even saw it again on Saturday and it was on the dyno haha..
But with the economy in tatters and the housing market being what it is, I had to make the sacrifice to try and save money to buy.. we’ve still not done it and I’ve not idea how long it will take. But as soon as we do there will be a Honda my driveway within weeks again 😁
looks slick mate, i like it :) be thankful you not a 9g, its even trickier due to mpg output on head unit etc :( and setting the clock is in the head unit........

No I don’t think so. The casting of the actual shape of the fascia is a bit weird and cheap and it seems to differ between them. All mine wasn’t too bad on the front once I’ve fitted it the second time, but on the top it was never right

No I never listed to music anyway only wanted the big nav screen. Ended up sticking an OEM back in.
If I was going to stick another in it it would have to be a lead brand unit. Pioneer Sony etc

I understand you don't recommend this radio, but I have just got a different android unit which I am struggling with steering wheel controls. Same car set up as you. What did you have to do to get the steering wheel working?

hi Matty, please help me with two answers. What player is it and how you connected the cable so the steering wheel controls to work? i bought a junsun and a canbus but without luck.
With this it was simply plug and play, then in the menus there was an option to program the controls in. It worked straight away on it
Hi Marius, I have a junsun with canbus on order from aliexpress. Is you're unit not working at all? Or is it just the canbus for the steering wheel controls and the separate screen?
May i know how to set the clock and date? I just install it, but cant use the mode button to reset the clock, hope u can teach me, many thanks

hey, I have th exactly same setup in my civic fn3 2.2ctdi, but my satnav is stuck at language because there is no button to control and the clock display isn't displaying , do you know any fix?
Your connects 2 lead is likely faulty or the interface itself.
My connects 2 lead stopped working after 2 weeks, lost all functionality with the steering wheel and the top screen went blank. I replaced it and it was fine afterwards 👌
@@Matty_Champwhite I didn't know the stereo already had a connects2 cable inside, I thought it was aftermarket too.
@@kidchig mine had a genuine connects 2 cable included with it mate, it will work without one, but no functionality will work with it.
If you haven’t got one it’s worth trying one in there if your head unit supports it 👌
Curious to know buddy if the air vents are partially blocked if you go from a 7 inch screen to 9 inch? Doesn't look that noticeable.
Not noticeable at all mate, they function as they did before

@@VIPAH not at all everything functioned until the radio amp went pop. I wouldn’t recommend one

I’ll be taking this stereo out as I’ve had sound issues Shame as it does everything I want it too
Do you think you had a bad unit? Iv not had any issues other than the connect 2 being faulty.
@@stevenmorgan4013 something wrong. It’ll work fine then hit a pothole or speed bump and it’s crackles and fizzes all other sound stops playing. Definitely fubar’d
Looking at this, so with TH-cam and apps, will it connect with iPhone or is that android only? And do you still need connects to to have steering controls?
Works better with apple than android mate. Wireless CarPlay
A mates had issues with his but mines fine. I have had a faulty connects 2 though.
And yeah you need the connects 2 on the Honda’s. It comes with it though
@@Matty_Champwhite ah that’s mega then mate! Picking fn2 up tomorrow so will be looking at grabbing one of these! With you saying it comes with it I’m guessing it’s got connects2 already interstates with the unit?
@@benboswell2086 it’s a proper genuine connects 2 lead it came with I was flabbergasted for the price. I expected a cheap copy

@@Matty_Champwhite mine arrived today mate, all seems top quality to be fair, has yours stopped working? Noticed it comes with genuine connects2 module too just like yours! I’ve seen a few people with these that love them then some that have issues constantly!

Did you follow the connects 2 instructions regarding this, if you plug it in the wrong order the canbus box won’t work
What's the sound quality like? I've been lookin at kenwoods but they quite high in price
Phenomenal sound quality! On par with my Bose system in my Audi A3.
I have fitted big alpine rear coaxial speakers whilst I had the car apart doing all my sound proofing (which will add to my audio quality) I’ve still got the front components to do.
I will say though I’ve had to send 75-80% of the power to the rears as the stock fronts simply can’t handle it. So they need doing soon.
This unit would easily blow up stock speakers.

I'm in to having a good sound system aswell as good exhaust note myself, as for the speakers though are they the same size all round?
When I've attempted to search for rear speakers for the fn2 ebay or even Google always seems to show the front pair
@@deeze33dw same size as the front in the rear but they are coaxial, whilst the fronts are components for the high level tweeters.
I had to make new holes in the rears to fit them. If you message me on insta I’ll send you some picks and a link of what I bought

I have got the civic 2008 with the satnav screen next to the clock screen and I couldn't find the cable to connect it to this unit in the sellers page. Does anyone know where to get it from?
Connects 2, mine came with it
@Matty_Champwhite I just purchased one (after I commented here) and all works fine except for the top screen. The seller is asking me to connect everything properly which I did. I just don't know which cable exactly is the one for the top screen to double check. The seller confirmed that it was supplied in the package
@@bringman23 the connects two that controls the top screen is the cable with the black box of tricks on it.
That’s the canbus modal that connects with the car, and what’s known as the connects 2

Yes mate any colour, there’s a full RGB selection, note them being red when I first fired it up and later green when I matched them with the dash

When you connect apple carplay on it does it connect automatically every time?also is it wireless carplay?

Easily converted I’ve read, all you need is the non nav top screen and shelf ontop of this kit and it should all function like mine
yep googlemaps and your units GPS would be better than hondas nav unit.

Never tried it if I’m honest, don’t listen to DAB. I just phone streamed
