Hi! Professional work! Hondas are great cars, unfortunately, the same and in the same place the Jazz can get wet after 10 years. You did a nice job. Thanks for teaching.
Good job! Also, thanks for actually showing the removal of the "door" card. I need to change the cable for the fuel filler cap on my Type S, that will help a lot.
Ive had 8 Honda's and love them but leaking boots has been an issue with all of them once they get to a certain age. I shall be checking those seals tomorrow! Thank you 😊
@@GeesDrive I've sealed at the end of the roof rack bit and am now leak free! I hope that you sort yours out too. Thank you for the informative video. No more steamed up windows and cress farming 🤣
Haha! So glad you got yours sorted 👍 My problem looks to be at the bottom of the windscreen on the drivers side now, dripping down onto the accelerator pedal which is not ideal 🤦♂️
Im really not looking forward to this.. found the same problem a couple of days ago. Dont have a clue how long its been going on. Car has just been parked up on the Driveway at home for 2 and a bit years. It doesn't smell the leaky water. So hopefully not too long. Just need some good weather now to do the Job. Never done anything like this Painstaking job on a car . So its worrying me. But realise its essential to get done, to limit rust/damage. Helpful video. Thanks for posting.. 👍
Great video. Just wondering did you put any sealant or anything around the top of the windshield after lifting the top rubber ? I have found it won't sit flush after lifting it off 🤔
I have since I did this repair but not enough to affect the top rubber. Just enough to seal the small leak where the windshield adhesive had started to perish.
i bought a civic with a roof rack and after trying to take it off i realized the stud that is on the last part of the rear had the head snapped off due to pressure of the roof rack so going to have to bodge it
That's less than ideal. I have actually bought the roof rack for mine as I thought it would be interesting but don't fancy cutting up the rails just yet.
@@GeesDrive You don't have to cut up the rails after having a look on youtube videos my stud was not broken the rear of the rail actually slides back to adjust the last clip to run on to the stud. so the rails on my civic where still fully in place. All you have to do with regards to the last clip on the rubber seal is pull the end part towards the boot to release it. My roof rack was a nissan model so any roof rack can fit the civic.
@@theprogrammerrolandmc3039 Perhaps it's a Type R specific thing then? I thought I saw a post on the forums about needing blanking plates when not using the rack mounting feet but I could be wrong. I'd love to fit one to my FN2. Cheers for the info 👍
@@GeesDrive Yeah if you plan on permanent roof rack no need to cut the rails but if just for the weekend then it would be better to cut them they are cheap on ebay £10 a set for blanking plates
Type R EP 3 was mine dream car when I was young but actually FN as daily is also i nice to have as it has all you need as cruise control, ESP, ABS, climate.Looking at the end of the video that boot is actually the same in Civic Tourer models only smaller. Honda used that very same boot design and used it on later Tourer MK9 and hatchbacks all the way to 2016. I bought Tourer 1.8vtec low mileage 2014 only 53k and now for a Type R as daily. One thing to add Tourer Civic has more boot space then Passat or Octavia from VAG.
Mine is the type s from 2007. I struggling to take plastic bits off boot to lift carpet and dry it out. Put seats back though and got duct tape emergency temporary measure over the seal
Hi, did the bottom carpet just pull put once the 4 bolts were removed? Just about to do mine. It's like the lost city of Atlantis in there. I mean the carpet section under the first fold lift away section.
Hi just watched your video and glad you got yours sorted Ive also got water coming in the boot checked the strips on the roof like you did plenty of rubbish there but have noticed when i open the boot water seeps through the plastic cover of the back window hatch so would it be coming through the top if the spoiler where it meets the window? Can you get the gasket like rubber trim that looks to go along there or should i try a outdoor silicone? any help would be appreciated.
I've seen another video from "Cowabunga Car Diaries" I think where they had the leak coming from the boot hatch. Might be worth searching their channel as I can't recall the fix. Good luck mate 👍
@@GeesDrive I've actually silicone the part where I thought it was coming in on the spoiler and we have had plenty of heavy Rain but no water coming in great news 👍
@@GeesDrive Ah that's great. Yep I've got a 2010 with 88k and it's pretty bad under there, some places need welding. A good indicator is the spring cup at the rear. super easy to check just Jack-up the car and remove the wheels. A few prods of a screwdriver should tell you if rust is an issue on your car. Of course there are other areas of concern but I think in general if that area is solid you may have a good one. Cheers
@@sportsmachinerr1401 Hey mate, I followed your guide and took a good look underneath at the spring cups and all over and it seems pretty solid, only some minor surface rust. Rear beam may need some attention but wanted to say thanks for your note 👍
This will help alot of mk8 civic owners 👍 well made video btw 😊 Thanks again ❤
That's great to hear it will help, I wasn't sure how much is shared with the rest of the range. Thanks for your kind comments 😃

Really well made video here and you've already helped other fn2 owners so thank you.
Thank you very much for the kind words 👍

No problem. I can see why people accidentally damage the door cards. The snag areas are the luggage hook and of course the power socket. Good luck 👍

Yes it's worth checking as it's so easy to get to. Since I fixed this, the leak is still in the front, must be coming from somewhere else too 🤔

Leaks are a nightmare to find aren't they. No doubt more leaks will appear on mine too but at least I have the sealant now and know where to look ☺️
Cool, calm, and collected. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Thank you sir, much appreciated 👍
My Mk IX Civic has the same problem, going to investigate and try this fix.
Super helpful!! My Civic i a bucket right now...
😅👍 Haha! Good luck with it mate.
Great video dude... not sure why I've only just stumbled on your channel. subbed.
Thanks mate, really appreciate it 😀👍 I've got an update on this in the next few weeks.

Always loved the Civic Tourer, especially when it was in the BTCC setup.
Mine too after really heavy rain last couple days. Never noticed it before. Boot, under trapdoor, false floor, soaked.

Thank you! It doesn't help when it's constantly raining. Hope you get it sorted 👍
Done a good job there dude 👍
Thanks mate, not bad for a complete amateur! 😅
Dinosaur watering can is kinda star of the show here
Had to be done 😂🦖
Thanks for sharing this content 😊. Much appreciated
Merci beaucoup beaucoup 🙏🏻
Great help only had car for a week and I have the same issue so glad I came across your site soon as it stops raining going to attempt repait
Same problem on my ep3.
Great vid ive just noticed on mine that the passenger rear seat belt when used is soaking wet
Boot fine and carpets
Do u think that could be the rail
Worth just lifting the roof trim and checking the rail seam welds. Might be worth checking window seals too? Good luck with it 👍
Did you find where the water was coming in from?
What did you use to seal?
Seam sealer on the welds then Granville Auto Silicone Sealant around the windscreen 👍
Hi, did the bottom carpet just pull put once the 4 bolts were removed? Just about to do mine. It's like the lost city of Atlantis in there.

Yeah it's only held in with those 4 bolts, although I snapped one putting it back in so watch out.
How do you go on with the snapped bolt buddy do you have to prize it out?
The other 3 bolts are enough to keep it in place thankfully but it triggers me knowing it's there 😅

Nice one, good news mate 👍
What sealant did you use? Looks very good
Just standard seam sealer, then normal Granville black car sealant. There's a link to that in my latest water leak video mate 👍
Has this repair held up?
Yes so far so good 👍 However the seal went bad around the windscreen since this video. I did an update video on that too.
From experience I'd get the underbody checked for corrosion by a professional before spending any cash on it.
Definitely. It's going to get a thorough going over in the summer. You had problems on one before?
